Game Of Thrones: The God-Emperor of Planetos-Chapter 357 - 358 - The Meritocracy Law of the Hereditary Nobility (II)
"Failure is the best teacher; it knocks you down and then helps you improve. But many people simply stay down when they are knocked down instead of moving forward."
--------
Feeling the resentful and angry gazes of her own faction members, Alysanne remained indifferent and cold. She did everything for the good of the Imperium and nothing more; the Hereditary Nobility Meritocracy Law was nothing more than forcing the nobles to become a better version of themselves.
If they had been complacent for too long and lacked ambition, it was not her problem. These nobles will be swept away by the tide of the Hereditary Nobility Meritocracy Law and erased from history. She gave them a chance to continue; if they were incapable, it only meant they were mediocre. And the Imperium does not need mediocrity in command.
"Just as the Crown Princess said, the Hereditary Nobility Meritocracy Law will come into effect starting this day. I urge all nobles to do their best so as not to disappoint their ancestors who arrived here with blood, sweat, and tears." Daenerys spoke with a smile, looking at the senators with a rather amused expression
Visenya looked at her younger sister and smiled; Daenerys was learning a bit from Aenar on how to provoke people. These nobles could cast a look of fury and resentment at the Crown Princess, but they would never dare to look at the Queen the same way. Rhaenys wanted to laugh, but to maintain the facade of a cold and distant goddess, she restrained herself, but her trembling shoulders showed that she was laughing to herself.
Then, a rather funny scene unfolded: all the men and women of noble birth stared at Alysanne with even more fury, as if they wanted to kill her with their eyes. Alysanne looked at her aunt and couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"My Queen, I wish to report something!" One of the nobles from Alysanne's faction stood up and looked at Alysanne with a furious gaze. The nobles already didn't have an easy life with the Emperor prohibiting them from having an army and the right to create new laws; now Alysanne had practically put the final nail in the coffin of the old nobility faction.
Aegon and Maegor cheered up, as this was what they had been waiting for. If the Old Faction Nobles fell, they would take Alysanne down with them!!!
Alysanne narrowed her eyes and showed a deep look, but she had already condemned the senator who stood up to death in her mind. Although she expected this to happen, she did not expect these nobles to be so impatient as to denounce the crimes she committed in front of her father and her three mothers. This embarrassed her; it was like having her secrets revealed to her father and mothers during a family meeting.
""The Crown Princess embezzled about twenty million Imperial credits over five years."" With the first accusation, the nobles began to stand up and expose Alysanne's own corruption.
Embezzlement, bribery, blackmail, coercion, and even murder.
Everything came to light at once; the new senators, who were like recruits in a war, were lost and didn't know what to say. They simply remained seated while bullets were fired everywhere.
Alysanne's face was like a hundred winters, so cold that it made those around her shiver. Her crimes might seem like a lot, but this was over a thousand years of politics; compared to the truly corrupt, she was no different from a little white rabbit.
"Alysanne of House Targaryen, how do you plead to the accusations?" Daenerys asked with a smile full of amusement. Seeing Alysanne in that situation was a great joy for her, as the girl was born with a silver spoon, never having touched anything that wasn't up to her standards, be it clothes, food, or material possessions.
Unlike her, who ate garbage and drank her own sister's blood to quench her thirst, Alysanne was simply born into paradise. In her eyes, this defeat was a good thing; at least the heiress of the Imperium would no longer be a spoiled girl who had never lost anything.
"I plead innocent; they have no evidence to support the slanderous claims they have made. According to the Golden Lineage Security Law, to accuse any member of the Golden Lineage, there must be concrete evidence and the support of one-third of the Imperial Senate!" Alysanne stated with a firm and determined tone.
How could Alysanne say she was guilty? Once that happened, she would be thrown out of the Senate for hundreds of years, and when she returned, all the power she had accumulated over thousands of years would vanish.
As soon as she finished speaking, Aegon and Maegor's supporters stood up and backed the accusations. As long as the other side had evidence, they could support it. How could the princes miss such a good opportunity to throw Alysanne out of the Senate?
Alysanne's face turned cold; she knew things had gotten out of control. Her father was determined to make her suffer a defeat. She fought back, spreading rumors about Aegon and Maegor, but the impact was still less than she expected, and the impact of the Hereditary Nobility Meritocracy Law was too great.
She expected these nobles to make the accusations after the Imperial Senate session, but she underestimated how important their noble status was to these people. The counterattack came immediately, and even the nobles who were on her side attacked her without any hesitation.
If they fell, they would drag her down into the abyss with them.
After the accusations ended, Aenar opened his eyes. He looked at Alysanne with an amused look and then at Daenerys, who passed the command to him.
"One-third of the Senate has approved." Aenar spoke in a calm tone. "The accusations will proceed. The Imperial Princess, Heiress to the Ruby Throne, Alysanne of House Targaryen, must abstain from the position of Imperial Senator until the evidence is investigated and analyzed."
The senators' faces lit up with satisfaction; it was evident that the Emperor would not show any partiality, not even towards his own daughter. Naturally, none of them believed for a single moment that Alysanne would lose her life; any other senator could be executed for such accusations, but never her. Anyone who imagined that Alysanne would be condemned to death was nothing more than a fool.
Alysanne clenched her jaw tightly, her teeth grinding under the tension. Her father had expelled her from the Imperial Senate without the slightest hesitation. If she had known that everything would unravel because she was too confident in securing Lyarra's nomination as Imperial Counselor, Alysanne would have been overcome with deep discouragement.
For the first time, Alysanne felt what Aegon felt: the sensation of powerlessness and insignificance before the God-Emperor of the Imperium of Humanity. Before him, any strength, whether political or personal, was nothing more than something weak and fragile. In the Imperium, the final word was always his and no one else's.
Aegon was almost ecstatic after hearing his father's words; it was the first time he had won against Alysanne in his life. The same could be said for Maegor; he grew up under Alysanne's 'fist of love' and always dreamed of destroying his older sister's confident smile. Now, seeing her smile disappear, he felt like someone lost in a desert finally drinking a glass of ice-cold water.
It was simply his greatest achievement.
Seeing Aegon and Maegor's gazes, Alysanne looked at them like a wounded wolf; there was anger and resentment in her chest, and her hands began to itch uncontrollably. Showing a malicious and frightening smile, she thought of a way to make Aegon and Maegor pay.
She lost the political fight, but she could make them feel pain. After all, it had been a long time since she had fought with her adorable younger brothers. She felt that Aemon, Jaehaerys, and Baelon should be included in this combat session.
After all, she was a sister who cared about the combat capabilities of her younger brothers.
Aegon and Maegor felt shivers run down their bodies, especially seeing Alysanne's frightening smile. Jaehaerys, Aemon, and Baelon, who were having fun in the Imperial Palace, felt the same chills in their bodies.
"Brothers, I think we should run away. This feeling is familiar; I feel like Alysanne wants to beat us up." Jaehaerys, who was always the one who got beaten up the most by Alysanne, felt the familiar shiver and spoke in a solemn tone. He didn't know why Alysanne was furious, but he didn't care; he just wanted to run away at that moment.
"Always so superstitious, brother." Baelon spoke with a smile. "It must be nothing much."
Jaehaerys looked at him as if he were a fool; the boy was the youngest and didn't know the terror they lived through in their childhood.
Aemon and Jaehaerys looked at each other and decided to run away without any hesitation; the trauma they suffered in childhood still lingers today, a thousand years later.
At the same time, they decided to use Baelon as bait to buy time and escape from Planetos. After all, there were still worlds conquered by the Cult of the True Humans; they had work to do.
