Game's Extra: Starting With SSS-Ranked 1000-Death Talent-Chapter 38: It’s Not the Size of the Sword, It’s How You Swing It
Chapter 38: It’s Not the Size of the Sword, It’s How You Swing It
Noa's words sounded like a demon whispering behind his ears.
It was convincing and scary at the same time, making Arthur's already confused mind fall into a dazed state.
He was questioning reality.
Even though Arthur didn't show it, he was proud, thinking of himself as a chosen one.
It was understandable.
Transmigrating into a novel world he had read and gaining even better perks than its protagonist, he regarded himself as some kind of fated hero.
The Overpowering skill and the full knowledge of world events strengthened his confidence.
But from the moment he arrived, countless new variables emerged.
Starting with the Scar that appeared one full year early, Noa Osborn, and other new characters with weird system announcements.
Even the mysterious guy before him was the variation he couldn't predict or control.
Noa watched Arthur's pondering face.
No matter how the boy tried to hide it, he still saw his unhappy expression.
On the other hand, it was Noa's joyous occasion.
But when Arthur snapped back into reality and aimed the sword at him, Noa had to get serious.
"What are you doing?" he asked calmly.
"Who the hell are you?" Arthur demanded answers and closed in. "How do you know about my talent rank?"
His voice was harsh, full of determination to cut down the enemy.
He couldn't just leave someone who knew about his true strength alive.
The surging panic and constant fear of various greedy powers attacking him would drive him insane.
So he wanted to get rid of Noa.
But first, he had to ask questions.
Unfortunately, Noa didn't care about his childish feelings, nor could he empathize with Arthur's wish to stay away from the threats.
"You are a naive little boy," he said with full seriousness. "Do you really believe you are some kind of hero with special abilities?"
Arthur listened, gritting his teeth.
"I didn't ask for your opinion. Tell me how or what you know about me!" he yelled, drawing attention from faraway clowns.
Seeing how immature he was, Noa shook his head.
"Seems like our friendship has a long way to go," he sounded disappointed. "It's okay, we can fix it, but if you don't want me to start with you, listen to your gorgeous sister and act like the good boy you are."
His words angered Arthur even further.
Yet he remembered Nyx.
She was the only person he could trust, and lowering his weapon, he crouched down to the corpse.
"We need to hurry. Others might attack us," he said softly as he touched the dead body.
Noa smiled.
'I wasn't expecting him to be tamed so easily,' he thought and added, "And whose fault is that?"
No response was given, but the light flicked on and off as the plundering skill came to life.
The bloody corpse dissolved, crumbling into dust.
It left only one shiny object behind—everything else disappeared to the last particle.
"What did you get?" Noa asked.
He tried to be as friendly as he could, his previous mockery and harrowing manner nowhere to be seen.
Arthur scoffed at his changed attitude.
"Weird boots," he said, not leaving Noa out of his view.
"Let me see. Is it something good?" the latter probed.
The display covered his vision, showing the rare drop.

'And he is willing to show them to me?' Noa considered again.
There was some kind of ploy at hand.
Something definitely was going on, but he was still far from the answers, and everything came down to the Doom God.
"My best, the most powerful and handsome friend in existence, care to donate this fine piece of accessory to this poor and weak fellow?"
His act of shamelessness had no bounds.
Arthur chuckled at Noa's pleading eyes, but there was no trace of kindness on his face.
"You can buy it from me. It has a dirty cheap price of $10,000," he said, acting innocent.
He also seemed more at ease, as if this kind of human interaction was a novel experience for him, and no matter how tense the situation seemed, he genuinely enjoyed it.
"Dirty cheap?" Noa scoffed, restraining himself from slapping the shit out of him. "Your mother—" he stopped himself. "Forget it. It's not a good price!"
Arthur didn't give up.

"I'm not always getting items. Who knows, it might be your only chance," he tested his persuasive skills.
Yet Noa was firm with his decision.
"On that note. How many attributes did you get?" he asked.
Lowering his brows and gripping his sword, Arthur snarled,
"You asshole, you know about that as well?" he seemed genuinely surprised and offended.
Noa shrugged.
"What can I do? That's how it is, and if you want to keep an eye out for me, you better hang out with me. The closer I am, the safer you will be." His speech felt like an offer.
Good deal if he said so.
Arthur agreed internally.
This weird guy, whose name he still didn't know, was terrifying entirely.
If killing him was not the option, the best course of action would be to have him in close vicinity.
But Noa seemed too carefree and friendly, almost making him drop his guard.
Yet this realization forced him to lock in so he wouldn't get punished by Noa.
"We need to hurry. I told you I can't miss the academy," he said, running ahead.
"What a fucking nerd!" Noa called out, sprinting beside him.
They walked on a ribcage, and because of the vastness of the place, they had no trouble avoiding clowns or small bats that inhabited this zone.
The trip was quiet.
None of them spoke unless it was absolutely necessary.
With the quickness of their legs, they reached the destination, the hall where the Unkillable Demon King resided.
Countless Embers fought against it.
It wasn't about overpowering or dealing damage to it.
The demon was truly unkillable, and not even Klaus managed to take it down in the novel.
Hence came Arthur's belief that he couldn't beat the immortal monster, especially when his only companion was Noa.
However, the game analysis enthusiast knew the trick of how to kill it.
"Let's go in," Noa said confidently, entering the Demon King's chamber without knocking on it.
