Chapter 54: Give Me Your Sis

’Here it is,’ Noa thought upon hearing Arthur’s suspicions.

He knew it was coming based on Arthur’s nature.

The protagonist was slow at times, but he was also a freak of control, and when something slipped from his clutches, he either reclaimed it or destroyed it.

This question was a test—his way of checking on Noa to determine how he should act.

"Earth? You mean soil? The very ground we are standing on?"

Noa spoke mockingly.

Arthur crossed his arms and said,

"You know I’m suspecting you, right?"

It was too early for him to give up.

"Not so friendly attitude," Noa answered. "But I think you like me."

The protagonist, dismissing his jokes, continued,

"Novel called Explosive Villain’s POV. Have you read it?"

Noa sighed and walked out of the hall at a slow pace, allowing Arthur to follow.

"Why are we talking about novels after the soil thing?" he asked. "But I’m more of a gamer, for your information."

"Your entire existence is a mystery... The way you talk and avoid my questions," Arthur trailed his words.

"Maybe I have a talent for stupidity. Have you thought about that?"

"I’m watching you!"

"Creep!" Noa teased, rubbing Arthur on the shoulders.

There was no point in speaking to him, leaving Arthur no options but to change his tactics.

Yet Noa ended the talk before him.

"You need help, my friend. I don’t know why you’re hiding your awesome powers, but you do you."

Then he increased his speed, exiting the building.

However, just before Noa left Arthur’s sight, he winked at the boy and said,

"Can you set me up with your sister? She is totally my type."

Hearing Noa’s blatant statement, Arthur flipped him the middle finger and slid it beneath his throat, as if sending a message.

’Poor guy. He knows nothing.’

Noa was in a great mood.

As for not admitting that he was transmigrated, he had one simple reason for that.

’It would have been too boring,’ he thought.

His new life had just started.

Giving away this secret to Arthur so early would diminish the thrill he could get later.

Why would he kill his own entertainment and potentially lose a chance to manipulate that asshole?

Content with his choices, Noa went to the association.

Thanks to Tifa and Caroline’s support, he was already registered as an Ember.

He had a couple of hours to spare before the evening.

Remembering his promise with Aeris and the twins, he hailed the taxi.

Just because he was part of the Red Order didn’t mean that his money issues were solved.

The organization was still in its early stages.

Noa also had to aid his siblings in changing their identity to live normal lives.

The fact that they lost everything because of him and the bounty the system issued still gnawed at his heart.

So he wanted to get a nice place for them to settle in.

Aeris had to work with something she actually enjoyed.

Sylas and Seren needed funds for their studies, which would bring countless other expenses.

Making money was simple for Embers.

But spending it was even easier.

In his case, Noa had only two Evolved Challenger Spirit Orbs.

He got them after slaying Level 15 Gory Clowns with Arthur.

Using higher-grade items for too long was impossible.

So he was forced to leave the assassins’ daggers after a quick use in battle.

He was left with no weapons, increasing the endless list of things he had to buy.

His previous bank account was seized, and he had to start from ground zero.

’I am a poor man,’ Noa mused. ’But not for long.’

After paying his last $10 to the driver, he went inside the association.

Just like before, he descended the stairs and found the muscular man called Rico.

"Good day, lad. What business do you have with me?" he asked.

Reaching into his small pouch, Noa took two orbs and offered them to the guy.

Rico didn’t comment.

Using his trusty equipment, he checked the authenticity and potency of the orbs.

A clicking sound pushed some numbers out, describing something Noa couldn’t read.

"Good things," Rico spoke loudly. "$1,500 for each. How does that sound?"

"Couldn’t ask for more even if I wanted to," Noa answered, letting the man end the transaction.

Just like that, $3,000 filled his bank account.

"It’s my first time seeing you here," Rico initiated the conversation.

"Yeah, I’m new in this area."

Noa nodded, searching for a blade from the collection before him.

Everything was dirt cheap, as their quality couldn’t come close to the goodies the outside market was selling. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Even then, Noa struggled to find passable swords for his price range.

"You should bring corpses as well," Rico advised. "You would get half the orb’s price if they are in good condition."

Noa shook his head in disapproval.

"I’m not exactly clean with my fights, and I don’t have a porter yet."

Before Rico continued to recommend some good porters, an image flashed in Noa’s head.

’I have a slave.’

He remembered Dusk—the captive he could use.

But there was a caveat.

There was a grade difference between them.

Dusk could only visit the Second Abyss while Noa was still stuck at the first one.

Challenging it to become a Returne was a great idea.

However, Noa still had to visit one deadly place before ranking up.

It was a secret passage in the First Abyss, and only someone who had killed the demon king could use it.

Having no other option but to postpone Dusk’s slavery, Noa bought a metallic Katana worth $1,000.

It had no magical properties and was factory made.

Then he bid his goodbye to Rico, walking towards the chambers.

He also encountered young people on the way and heard their conversations.

"Wanna check out the colossal titan’s remains?"

"Let’s go. I hope it won’t be as crowded as it was in videos."

"I’m so jealous of whoever took it down. They probably got something really good out of it."

Noa wanted to slap them one by one.

Not only did he not get items or loot from the demon king, but he was also cursed.

Shaking his head, he met the familiar female officer, who guided him to the chamber.

’I am going to be rich after this.’

Promising himself to farm a good number of orbs, Noa embraced the magical darkness.
