Game's Extra: Starting With SSS-Ranked 1000-Death Talent-Chapter 81: Guide to Getting Away With Murder
"Let this gentleman guide you to the separate rooms," the principal ordered them, standing tall and proud.
But there was a hint of nervousness in his voice.
Even he couldn’t escape the responsibility, and he, as well, would be questioned.
Students stood in line, waiting for their turn.
The uniformed man and woman called them out one by one, leading them into isolated chambers for questioning.
Noa had a lot to do—his entire day was already planned.
Instead of wasting time waiting for his classmates, he wanted to go first.
From the silence, his voice rose—bold and firm.
"Can I go first? I am the one who slaughtered his clones and sent his consciousness back to Velrox."
"Hmm?" A short woman with a buzz cut eyed him. "And what was your reason?"
She asked openly, without taking him to a remote location.
"His betrayal, of course. Why would I attack a teacher if he didn’t mess up?" Noa spoke just as calmly, his daring voice echoing throughout the hall.
"That’s news to me," the woman said. "Can you tell me more?"
Noa moved his head in circles, showing his attitude of checking people around.
"Are you sure you want others to hear it as well?" he asked, a playful smile dancing on his face.
It didn’t seem like he was the one being questioned.
The moment he opened his mouth, Noa was ready to control the situation and take it in the direction he was comfortable with.
Inspection skill didn’t work on the woman.
Clearly, she was someone of lofty status with a high grade.
"Speak," she said. "I doubt your words can make much of a difference."
’She underestimates me,’ Noa thought.
Then he neared the woman and other officials next to her, disregarding the stares he was getting.
"Fair enough," he started, locking his eyes with the woman. "He gave us those potions to drink, saying they would help us recover stamina."
Offering the flask to her, Noa continued,
"Everyone who drank it slept for an hour inside the Abyss in Blue Monkey Valley. Ohh, and he is the one who took us there."
Students, especially his teammates, nodded at his every word.
The woman took the potion, her lips lowering.
She saw that the potions indeed had a sleeping poison mixed in, proving Noa’s story.
"How did you know?" she asked.
For Noa to actually see through Arnold’s plan, he had to be at least a high-grade combatant, or he had to have some rare artifact.
"I don’t trust people. Not even teachers are an exception to my rule," he responded.
"Good work," the woman saluted, signaling Noa to leave.
’She isn’t directly connected to the Axis?’ he considered upon seeing her casual demeanor.
It would have been weird for them to send someone to clean their mess who didn’t work for them and didn’t share the same ideals.
"My team operated with me. Can you let them go as well?" he added, smirking at Martha.
The girl seemed nervous, terrified even.
"No. We need their side of the story. Be gone before we change our minds and wait for the official statement," the officer said firmly.
Noa saluted awkwardly, side-eyed Martha apologetically, and said,
"Thanks for your service."
Then he left the hall, his tactic working somehow, but he knew the government wouldn’t roll this incident away this easily.
They would try to bury this incident or delete the post from the forums.
Yet even their absurd grip on the world wouldn’t be enough, as Caroline stood in their way, obstructing their every attempt.
’Sike bitches.’
Noa roamed the academy building cheerfully, knowing that no one would suspect a thing about him.
Zero was a topic of discussion all around the world.
And Glory City became the center of attention, as more than one separate incident happened in quick succession.
Still, the name Zero and his origin were the biggest mysteries of the day.
Some believed he was some kind of death knight, fighting against injustice.
People connected him to the Red Order, as theories after theories were made up about him.
’I am eight levels away from becoming a Returne. What new skill would I get?’
Noa’s expectations were high, but he was dreading meeting up with Red Order members.
Especially Punchy, who was striving to beat his ass and call it a practice.
They also wanted to know his condition for evolving, which put one more strain on his mind.
"Hey!" a voice called out to him.
Noa searched for the owner of the voice and found Viktor waiting for him on a bike.
"What’s up?" he asked. "Did they send you here to pick me up?"
The man gave him a helmet.
"Sit. We are going to our new hideout," he added.
"This soon?" Noa exclaimed in surprise.
Viktor ignored his reaction and fired up the engine, its loud voice reverberating around the street.
"Can I drive?" he pleaded.
Shaking his head softly, the man showed a rare smile and said,
"Tifa warned me. She said you would ask me that, and I shouldn’t listen even if you try to win me over with alcohol."
"But I don’t want to hug you," Noa argued. "And driving this bad girl sounds so cool."
"Would you rather me hugging you?" Viktor joked.
Noa shook his head instantly.
A moment later, the bike surged forward, and wind whistled over his shoulder, the high speed offering him a rush of adrenaline.
Without asking anything, Noa stood still, waiting for the meeting.
Only after ten minutes, the bike stopped, showing a magnificent view in front of it.
"Is this our new bunker?" he asked.
There were no caves around the area, nor were there destroyed buildings nearby.
Instead, a new building Viktor led him into was located dead center in the city, only one block away from the association’s headquarters.
’What a madness,’ Noa thought. ’They still took this place.’
Before he got the chance to investigate the area, he saw Tifa greeting him from afar.
’Here it is.’
Now it was time for the meeting.
The one that would either doom him or help him to reach the next grade.
