Chapter 763: Chapter 763: Twin Brother

Yu Holea’s eyes stayed calm and sharp as she reached into her sleeve and pulled out a glowing yellow talisman.

"You’ve lied enough, Yu Mei," she said, her voice cold.

Zhao Yiran—no, Yu Mei—tried to take a step back. "Don’t you dare—!"

But Yu Holea didn’t wait.

She flicked the immobilizing talisman into the air. It flew fast like a flash of lightning.

Yu Mei moved quickly, trying to dodge it, but the talisman was too fast. It stuck right to her chest.

Yu Mei froze in place instantly. Her eyes were wide, full of panic, but her body couldn’t move at all—not even a finger.

Yu Holea walked closer and looked at her carefully. "Now let’s see if you’re really Zhao Yiran or just hiding behind her face."

She took out another talisman—this one was glowing blue. It was a True Appearance Talisman. She flicked it at Yu Mei.

A soft wind blew through the room as the talisman stuck to Yu Mei’s forehead.

A glowing light covered her face, and slowly, the illusion started to fade.

In a few seconds, the face of Zhao Yiran melted away like smoke... revealing Yu Mei underneath.

Yu Holea raised one eyebrow.

"Thought so," she said.

Yu Mei glared at her, still frozen in place.

Yu Holea crossed her arms. "Alright then. Where’s the real Zhao Yiran?"

Yu Mei kept her lips tightly shut.

Yu Holea narrowed her eyes. "You don’t want to talk? That’s fine."

She closed her eyes, letting her mystic energy flow through her body.

Her aura glowed with soft blue light as she reached out with her senses. Slowly, she scanned the area with her mystic power.

Then—she found it.

Her eyes snapped open.

"There’s a secret room... the basement."

Yu Holea turned quickly and moved across the room.

She found a trapdoor hidden beneath a thick carpet. She pulled it open and climbed down a narrow staircase.

The air was cold and still.

There, in the corner of the basement, she found a girl lying on the ground. It was the real Zhao Yiran.

She was unconscious, her hands and feet tied with glowing ropes that blocked spiritual energy.

Yu Holea rushed forward and placed her hand on Zhao Yiran’s forehead.

A warm light spread from her palm. Slowly, Zhao Yiran’s breathing became steadier.

"She’s alive..." Yu Holea whispered. "But too weak."

She carefully lifted Zhao Yiran and carried her upstairs. She placed her gently on the soft bed in the bedroom, tucking her in.

Then she turned and walked back to the living room where Yu Mei was still frozen.

Yu Holea’s face was calm, but her eyes were serious.

"Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s talk about your mother."

Yu Mei’s face twitched. "I won’t say anything," she snapped.

Yu Holea gave a small, cold smile. "That’s fine. We’ll do it my way then."

She took out another talisman—this one crackled with sparks of electricity. It was a Thunderbolt Talisman.

Without a word, she flicked it toward Yu Mei.

CRACK!

A loud bolt of lightning struck Yu Mei’s body.

She screamed, her whole body shaking. But the talisman didn’t hurt her to death—it just gave enough pain to break her spirit.

Yu Holea waited a moment. "Now. Where is your mother?"

Yu Mei clenched her teeth and shouted, "I won’t tell you anything!"

Yu Holea sighed, almost bored.

Another Thunderbolt Talisman flew.

CRACK!

Yu Mei screamed again, louder this time. Her legs buckled even though she was frozen in place. Her breathing turned heavy.

Yu Holea’s voice was quiet but firm.

"I have more talismans than you have secrets."

Still, Yu Mei didn’t speak.

CRACK! Another thunderbolt.

Yu Mei groaned, her body starting to smoke slightly from the magical hits.

"Where is she?" Yu Holea asked again.

Yu Mei bit her lip hard. She was shaking now. Her pride was crumbling slowly under the pain.

"Yu Holea you b*tch! Don’t you call yourself kind-hearted! How can you bear to harm me?"

Yu Holea: "..."

"Are you speaking human language? You almost killed my brothers, tried to snatch my fiancé, and tried to harm me, do you think I am some kind of saint who would remain quiet even after that?" Yu Holea with gritted teeth.

Yu Mei’s lips twisted into a weak sneer, even though her face was pale and her body trembled from the thunderbolts.

"I only did what I had to," she hissed. "If you weren’t always in the way... everything would’ve been mine. Qiao Jun. Fame. Power."

Yu Holea stared at her with narrowed eyes. "You’re still not sorry," she said quietly. "You don’t even care who gets hurt."

Yu Mei didn’t answer.

Yu Holea wasn’t in a hurry either. She repeatedly asked the same question and threw thunderbolt talismans at Yu Mei.

At last, becoming frustrated, Yu Mei shouted,

"Why! Why! We both are stepsisters, so why do you receive such good treatment and love while my brothers ignore me?"

Yu Holea paused before laughing,

"You want to say I am their stepsister? What a dumb move. I have already done a DNA test with Mr. Yu. I am indeed her daughter."

Yu Mei gritted her teeth,

"You aren’t! You are his twin brother’s daughter!"

Yu Holea frowned,

"What do you mean?"

Seeing the clueless expression on Yu Holea’s face, Yu Mei smiled with delight.

"You know, Dad wanted a deal with a prestigious family in the capital, but for some reason, that prestigious family kept on denying.

Dad came to know that the head of the prestigious family loves Mrs. Yu. So he didn’t hesitate to drug the head and let him sleep with Mrs. Yu.

The head, after waking u,p was guilty and vowed to never set a foot in City S, but at the same time, he gave dad the deal.

The reason why Dad hates you so much because he always thought that you were the head’s child.

In reality, you are. But what dad doesn’t know is, he and that head are twin brothers! Hahaha!"

Yu Holea was stunned. She couldn’t believe Yu Mei’s words.

However, a part of her was telling her that Yu Mei wasn’t lying.

"Who is that head? Who is that prestigious family?"

Yu Mei smiled widely,

"I won’t tell you. Hehe!"

Yu Holea’s hands clenched into fists. Her heart was racing.

She had always felt something weird about Mr. Yu’s coldness. Like he was angry at her for no reason. Now it kind of made sense... but also made everything more confusing.

"I said," she stepped closer to Yu Mei, her eyes burning, "tell me who that head is!"

Yu Mei just laughed, even though her body was still trembling from pain.

"Make me," she said through gritted teeth.

Yu Holea pulled out another Thunderbolt Talisman—but stopped halfway.

She was angry. Furious. But something didn’t feel right.

"...Why are you telling me all this now?" she asked slowly.

Yu Mei blinked. Then her smile faded.

Yu Holea narrowed her eyes. "You could’ve stayed quiet. So why tell me?"

Suddenly, BANG!

Yu Holea turned sharply.

"What now...?"

Before she could move, a cold wind blew through the room. The lights flickered. The air became heavy, as if something evil had entered the house.

And then... a shadow appeared in the corner of the living room.

A tall figure stepped out of the darkness. Her face was hidden by a black veil, and her long cloak trailed behind her like smoke.

Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed.

"...Yu Mei’s mother."

The woman’s voice was cold and sharp, like glass breaking. "So... you dare to hurt my daughter?"

Yu Mei looked up weakly. "M-Mother..."

Yu Holea stood her ground. "She deserves it. You both do."

The woman raised her hand, and dark mist started swirling around her fingers. "You have no idea who you’re dealing with, girl."

Yu Holea smiled slightly. "I don’t care. Threatening me won’t help you."

The dark mist shot forward like a snake. Yu Holea quickly threw up a barrier with a golden talisman.

The two powers clashed with a loud BOOM, shaking the walls.

Yu Mei’s mother narrowed her eyes. "You’re stronger than I expected."

"And you’re more annoying than I thought," Yu Holea shot back, her eyes glowing with blue light.

"I wanted to play a bit more, but seeing my daughter’s condition, I feel unhappy." Yu Mei’s mother said with narrowed eyes, and she lifted her hand.

Yu Mei’s mother lifted her hand, and her lips moved fast as she spoke a strange, creepy chant.

Her voice echoed around the room like wind in a cave.

Dark symbols appeared in the air around her fingers, glowing purple and red like fire and shadows mixed together.

Yu Holea’s eyes widened."She’s using... a curse!"

Without wasting a second, Yu Holea slammed a golden talisman onto the floor. It flashed bright gold and a strong barrier wrapped around her like a glowing bubble.

The dark curse hit the shield with a loud CRACK!

The air sizzled. Sparks flew everywhere.

But Yu Holea held steady inside her shield. "Nice try."

Yu Mei’s mother didn’t say anything. Instead, she turned her hand and pointed right at the yellow talisman stuck to Yu Mei’s chest—the one that was keeping her frozen.

"No—!" Yu Holea shouted.

But it was too late.
