Chapter 801: Chapter 801: Break Up

His assistants stood frozen in the room, heads bowed, not daring to speak.

Old Master Fu’s eyes were bloodshot, and the veins in his neck bulged with fury. His hand trembled as he slammed it on the table again, voice rising with every word.

"He was in the warehouse! Tied up like a pig! You had ONE job! One!" he shouted. "And now, not only is he gone, but Gu Nian is in the hospital! And Yu Sicong knows everything!"

One of the assistants, a younger man with a nervous look, finally spoke up, voice shaking,

"S-Sir... we didn’t expect Yu Sicong to show up so fast. Someone must have tipped him off."

"Tipped him off?" Old Master Fu growled.

"You think that bastard needs a tip-off to ruin everything? He’s like a damn ghost! Always showing up when you least want him to!"

He started pacing the room, muttering curses under his breath. Then he suddenly stopped.

"Fine," he said, voice cold and low now. "They want to play dirty? I’ll show them dirty. If I can’t control Fu Jian, then I’ll destroy him. I’ll ruin his name. And I’ll make sure that Yu Sicong regrets ever getting involved."

The assistant swallowed hard.

"Sir, with all due respect, Yu Sicong is already angry. If we make a move against Young Master Fu..."

"Shut up!" Old Master Fu snapped. "I don’t care what it takes. Money, power, threats—I’ll use everything I have. He wants to challenge me? Then let’s see how long he can protect that little brat."

He turned to the other assistant.

"Prepare the files. Dig up everything on Fu Jian. I want dirt, scandals, anything that can destroy his reputation."

"And if you fail again..." He narrowed his eyes. "You’ll wish Sicong got to you before I did."

———

Back at the hospital, Fu Jian was lying on the bed, arms crossed as he stared at the ceiling.

Yu Sicong sat beside him, scrolling on his phone.

"Are you still mad?" Sicong asked, glancing over.

"No," Fu Jian grumbled.

Yu Sicong raised an eyebrow. "That doesn’t sound convincing."

Fu Jian turned his head away, lips pressed together. "...You’re annoying."

Sicong leaned closer, smirking. "But you like me."

Fu Jian’s cheeks flushed, but he didn’t answer.

Then Sicong’s phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, and his expression darkened slightly.

"What is it?" Fu Jian asked, noticing the shift.

"Someone’s trying to dig into your past," Sicong said. "Old Master Fu’s starting to move."

Fu Jian’s heart skipped. "What does that mean?"

"It means," Sicong said calmly, "he’s trying to ruin your name. He’s desperate now."

Fu Jian sat up slightly. "Can he actually do it?"

"Not if I’m here," Sicong said, slipping his phone into his pocket.

Just as he took out his phone, it rang on its own.

Seeing the caller ID, Yu Sicong raised an eyebrow and massaged his temple.

"Who is it?"

"Qiao Jun. My sister’s fiancé. A pain in a*s." Yu Sicong muttered softly, causing Fu Jian to chuckle. "Pick it up. Maybe he must have something important to say."

"Yeah... yeah." Yu Sicong said and pressed the green button. As soon as the call was connected, Yu Sile’s hurried voice sounded,

"Brother, you need to hurry back home! Mother got to know about your affair with Fu Jian, and she is angry."

Yu Sicong’s face froze.

"...What?"

"One of her kitty party friends had captured you getting intimate with Fu Jian in the car." Yu Sile explained.

Yu Sicong blinked, stunned. "She what?"

"She saw pictures," Yu Sile said, voice tense. "She’s freaking out. You know how Mom is. She is a traditional woman. Though she is gentle, she is asian too!"

Yu Sicong let out a heavy sigh, rubbing his forehead. "Of course, she saw pictures. Of course, it had to be that friend group."

"She’s been shouting non-stop for an hour," Yu Sile went on.

"I’m on my way," Sicong muttered and ended the call.

Fu Jian sat up, worried. "Is it bad?"

"It’s... not great," Sicong admitted. "My mom saw pictures of us kissing in the car. She’s furious. Apparently, her entire gossip circle knows."

Fu Jian’s face fell. "I didn’t think we’d get caught."

"Neither did I. But we didn’t do anything wrong," Sicong said firmly. "Still, I need to calm things down before it explodes."

Fu Jian looked down at his hands. "You think she’ll accept us?"

Sicong walked over and squeezed his shoulder. "Eventually? I don’t know. But I’m not hiding you. Not anymore."

Fu Jian looked up, eyes searching his. "You’re sure?"

Sicong smiled softly. "Completely."

....................................

At the Yu mansion, tension hung in the air like a storm waiting to break.

Mrs. Yu sat on the grand couch in the middle of the living room, fanning herself furiously with trembling hands. Her usually calm face was tight with emotion.

Yu Sile stood by the side, looking like he’d rather be anywhere else.

"Where is he?" Mrs. Yu snapped, her voice sharp.

"I just called him," Sile said, standing nervously near the stairs. "He’s coming."

Right on cue, the front door opened. Yu Sicong stepped inside, face calm, but his eyes sharp.

Mrs. Yu stood up at once. "So it’s true?"

"Yes," Sicong said. "It’s true. I’m in love with Fu Jian."

The room fell silent.

Mrs. Yu stared at him, a fan slipping from her hand.

"You—do you even understand what you’ve done?" she finally asked in a shaky voice. "Sicong, you must be sick. You don’t like that boy. How can a man ever like a man? Son, hear me out, let’s go to a psychiatrist."

Yu Sicong’s jaw tightened. He took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

"Mom, I’m not sick," he said slowly. "This isn’t something a doctor can ’fix.’ It’s not a phase. I’ve felt this way for a long time."

Mrs. Yu shook her head, her voice rising. "No, no, you don’t understand what you’re saying. This is just... confusion. That Fu Jian boy—he must’ve tricked you, used you while you were vulnerable."

"No one tricked me," Sicong said, his voice firm now. "Fu Jian didn’t make me feel this way. I do. I chose to be with him."

"Do you know how much shame this will bring?" she cried. "The Yu name will be dragged through the mud. How am I supposed to face people?"

Sicong looked at her, eyes full of quiet pain. "So that’s what you care about? What do people say?"

"I care about you!" she shouted. "About your future! You were supposed to marry, have a family, and carry on the Yu legacy!"

"I am carrying it," Sicong replied, his voice steady. "Just not the way you expected."

She turned away, covering her face with her hands. Her voice came out muffled. "I will... never accept it."

"Then you’ll have to learn," Sicong said. "Because I won’t walk away from Fu Jian. Not even for you."

Yu Sile stood silently, eyes flicking between them, unsure if he should speak.

Mrs. Yu slowly lowered her hands, her eyes now red. "So... you’re really choosing him over your own mother?"

"I’m choosing myself," Sicong said softly. "For the first time in my life."

Mrs. Yu didn’t respond. She sat down slowly, as if all the energy had left her.

Sicong turned to leave.

As he reached the door, he paused. "I’m not asking you to understand, Mom. Not today. But I hope someday you will."

And then he walked out, the door closing behind him with a quiet click.

Yu Sile stayed where he was, glancing at his mother, then the door.

"...You know," he said after a moment, "Fu Jian’s not that bad."

Mrs. Yu glared at him. Then suddenly slapped her hand,

"Yes! I can do that."

"What?" Yu Sile asked in confusion, but Mrs. Yu ignored him and walked toward her room. She couldn’t help her son walk down the wrong path.

Maybe now he was proud of his decision, but in the future, he would regret all of his choices and maybe even blame her for not telling him right from wrong.

The only way to prevent Yu Sicong from future pain was to be hard with him now, and make sure he and that Fu boy break up.

’Even though he will hate me now, but in future he will understand my decision. Yes!’

For Mrs. Yu, there was no such thing as gay. Her rigid education had taught her that only men and women are meant for each other.

Even in high society, where she had belonged, she had never seen such a thing.

Humans fear the unknown and resist new things. Such was the state of Mrs. Yu.

She loved her son and didn’t want him to see him go down the ’drain’, so she thought of the thing she could do.

Arrange a meeting with Fu Jian and force him to break up with Yu Sicong.

Yes, that was what she was going to do when...

"Mother."
