Chapter 817: Chapter 817: Mirai’s Mother

Qiao Jun’s words fell like a heavy stone in the room.

At first, the Ou family had been emotional, grateful, full of tears and love. But now, the moment he called Yu Holea his wife, the atmosphere shifted. Their smiles stiffened. Their eyes narrowed slightly, filled with something sharp.

Mrs. Ou’s face twitched. Mr. Ou’s expression turned dark. Even Ou Lin, who had been calm and thankful moments before, clenched his jaw.

The word wife echoed loudly in all their hearts.

After so many years... after finally seeing Yu Holea again... this man—Qiao Jun—was already claiming her? Taking her away again?

Ou Lin took a step forward, his eyes fixed on Qiao Jun.

"You don’t waste time, do you?" he said, trying to smile, but his teeth were gritted. "It’s alright. I have no problem with you two being together. I respect her choice. But I have one condition."

Yu Holea looked confused. She turned to Ou Lin. "Condition? What condition?"

Ou Lin stepped closer and gently held her hand. His eyes were sincere, but there was a hint of sadness behind them.

"I want to add more to the shares," he said. "Some real estate, some fixed assets too. We’ll prepare everything. But only if... you agree to this one thing."

Yu Holea blinked, still unsure what was going on. "But I don’t want anything, really..."

Ou Lin smiled softly. "Then do it for us. Not for you. Give us a chance to make up for the years we lost. Just one day, Holea. One day a week. Please. Spend one day every week with the Ou family."

Yu Holea froze. Her heart felt tight. One day? That didn’t sound too hard. One day in seven. That was fair... wasn’t it?

But beside her, Qiao Jun’s eyes were slowly turning cold.

He did the math in his head—one day every week meant 4 days a month... 48 days a year... and over 10 years?

480 days.

He imagined all those days without her. 480 mornings without her sleepy voice. 480 nights without her soft goodnights. He felt like someone was tearing away a piece of his soul.

His smile cracked.

Then, suddenly, he spoke.

"Not possible."

Everyone turned to look at him.

Qiao Jun’s voice was calm, but his anger was boiling beneath the surface. "If you ask for one day a week... then what’s next? The Yu family will ask for the same. Then the Qiao family. Then someone else. Will she become everyone’s time-share?"

Mrs. Ou frowned. "That’s not what we meant—"

"But that’s what will happen," Qiao Jun cut her off, his tone sharper now. "You think it’s just one day, but to me, it’s 480 days over ten years. That’s more than a whole year without her. You’re taking a year of my life."

Ou Lin’s jaw tightened. "So what are you saying? That we don’t even get a few hours with our own blood?"

"I’m saying," Qiao Jun said coldly, "she is my wife. You lost your right the moment you left her behind."

"QIAO JUN!" Yu Holea finally raised her voice.

Everyone went quiet.

She looked between the two men, completely overwhelmed. "Stop it. Please. I’m not a thing you can divide. I came back to help Xiaoxiao. I didn’t ask for this fight."

She turned to Ou Lin. "Brother, I don’t want anything from you. No shares, no land, no conditions. I just want peace."

Ou Lin looked hurt, but he still nodded. "Okay. Then let us earn your time, not buy it. We’ll wait. But we’ll always welcome you."

She turned to Qiao Jun.

"And you... please don’t say things like that again. I’m not just your wife. I’m still a person with my own heart. You’re not losing me, okay?"

Qiao Jun stared at her, then slowly lowered his head. "...I’m sorry. I just got scared. I waited so long for you, I didn’t want to share anymore."

Yu Holea took a deep breath.

The room was heavy with silence. But her words had calmed the storm, for now.

"Then let’s take things slowly," she said. "No contracts, no fights. Let’s just... be a family again."

In a dark, quiet room far away from the Ou family’s home, Mirai’s mother sat cross-legged, her eyes closed, deep in meditation. Her long hair floated slightly in the air, glowing softly with her power. Everything was calm... until suddenly—

Her eyes snapped open.

She gasped loudly, as if something had been ripped out of her. Her body trembled slightly. Her fingers clenched.

"No..." she whispered.

Her hand moved quickly to the silver ring on her finger. It had a deep purple gem, glowing faintly. She rotated it slowly, trying to sense the bond she had kept hidden for so long.

She closed her eyes, focusing.

Silence.

Nothing.

Her eyes widened. She tried again—harder, faster. Still nothing.

"No!" she shouted this time. "This is not possible!"

She stood up quickly, her face full of panic. Her breath was fast, uneven. "I used Ou Xiaoxiao’s soul... That girl was the perfect vessel to connect to Mirai across nations... Why isn’t it working anymore?"

She looked down at the ring, trembling.

"I even gave her my two strongest attacks... Just so Mirai could destroy Yu Holea... What happened?!"

She snapped her fingers, trying to teleport to where Mirai was.

Nothing happened.

The wind around her room stopped moving. Even the glow in the walls dimmed.

For a moment, she stood there frozen... then she gritted her teeth and began chanting an ancient spell. Her voice rose louder and louder, shaking the walls.

A swirl of wind gathered in front of her, and soon a glowing mirror-like portal opened up. A scene began to play.

She watched carefully.

She saw Yu Holea standing outside a magic circle. In the center of magic circle, she saw Mirai—weak, trapped. And then... she saw it.

Yu Holea was drawing the soul out.

Mirai’s power was being sucked into the ring.

Then Yu Holea pushed her own mystic energy into it.

And finally—Mirai was gone.

Ou Xiaoxiao’s soul returned.

Mirai’s mother screamed in rage.

Her eyes turned blood red, and the air around her burned.

"Yu Holea!! You dare take my daughter?!"

Without another word, she snapped her fingers again—and this time, the spell worked.

She vanished from her room in a flash of dark light.

At the Ou estate, Yu Holea was still standing calmly in the middle of the room, Qiao Jun beside her. The Ou family was about to ask her more questions when—

BOOM!

A blast of wind shook the entire house.

A dark portal cracked open in the air, and from it stepped a tall, terrifying woman in black and violet robes—Mirai’s mother.

Her eyes glowed like red fire.

Everyone in the room felt the pressure instantly. It was hard to breathe.

She didn’t wait.

With a flick of her hand, three glowing symbols shot through the air straight toward Yu Holea.

"Give me back my daughter!!"

Yu Holea’s eyes widened, but before she could even raise her hand—

CRASH!

A golden shield appeared in front of her, blocking the attack just in time.

Qiao Jun stood in front of her now, one hand out, his face hard.

"This isn’t your battlefield," he said coldly. "Ou family, leave now."

They all hesitated.

"Now!" he shouted again.

Mrs. Ou quickly picked up Ou Xiaoxiao, who looked scared and confused.

"Why are we leaving?! Who is that lady?! What’s happening?!"

"Don’t ask, sweetie, it’s not safe," Mrs. Ou whispered, holding her tight.

The rest of the Ou family hurried out of the room.

Now, only Yu Holea, Qiao Jun, and Mirai’s mother remained.

Yu Holea looked at the witch calmly. But inside, she was tense. She came faster than expected...

Still, she took a step forward.

"If you’re looking for Mirai... you should know she lost," Yu Holea said, her voice calm but firm. "You trained her to hurt me, to kill me. But you lost."

The witch’s face twisted in fury.

"Don’t pretend to be righteous! You stole my daughter’s soul!"

"I saved an innocent one," Yu Holea said sharply. "Ou Xiaoxiao didn’t deserve to be your puppet!"

Mirai’s mother screamed. "Where is Mirai?! GIVE HER BACK!"

Yu Holea narrowed her eyes. "You will be disappointed because she is under my control now, and you won’t be able to meet her."

There was smugness in her eyes.

Mirai’s mother shouted in anger, "What? Give her back to me! Right this instant!"

"Nope. Not until she had paid for all the bad deeds she had done till now." Yu Holea said nonchalantly. Mirai in Yu Mei’s body had given her a lot of trouble and time and time had provoked her.

Now that Mirai was in her hands, she would make sure to teach her a good lesson.

Mirai’s mother was pissed off and shouted in a loud voice,

"You bunch of snobs! You always act righteously! In reality you are nothing more than hypocrites!"
