Chapter 842: Chapter 842: Trap

Even though she had been invisible the whole time, she was now showing herself clearly, without fear.

Yu Holea raised her hand and waved a gentle goodbye.

The witch stared at her in shock. "You—!"

But before she could do anything, Yu Holea’s hand glowed with bright mystic light.

She snapped her fingers.

Suddenly, strange glowing marks lit up all around the hallway floor and walls.

The witch gasped.

She looked down. Her feet couldn’t move.

"What is this?!"

Yu Holea’s voice was calm but cold. "A cursed array. Advanced level."

The witch’s eyes widened. She tried to jump away, but her body was stuck in place. Her limbs refused to move.

"I’ll deal with you later, Yu Holea!" she shouted.

But before she could finish her sentence—

Whoosh.

Her body turned completely black... and crumbled into ashes.

She disappeared right there, in front of Yu Holea and Old Master Fu.

Yu Holea frowned.

Something didn’t feel right.

She stared at the ashes for a moment... then her eyes widened in realization.

"That wasn’t the real witch," she whispered. "That was just a puppet."

Her jaw tightened.

So I wasted a whole cursed array... on a fake.

Behind her, Old Master Fu had also come into the hallway.

He stared at the pile of ashes with horror on his face.

His lips trembled. "Wh-What just happened? Why did she turn to dust?!"

He looked around, panicked.

"Is this... a ghost?! Is someone haunting me?!"

Yu Holea narrowed her eyes. Then, an idea came to her.

She snapped her fingers again.

From her talisman pouch, a ghost flew out.

It had long, floating hair, empty eyes, and it gave off a cold chill.

But the ghost didn’t attack. Instead, it floated gently in front of Yu Holea and bowed.

"What are your instructions, Master?" the ghost asked respectfully.

Yu Holea’s voice was calm. "Just scare him. Don’t hurt him. And don’t give him a heart attack."

The ghost nodded. "Understood. I’ll return by morning. I won’t go too far."

"Good," she said.

Meanwhile, Old Master Fu was still spinning around in confusion.

He couldn’t see Yu Holea. He couldn’t see the ghost either—just feel a strange cold wind blowing around him.

The lights flickered. A door creaked open on its own.

A whisper echoed in the hallway.

"I’m watching you..."

Old Master Fu dropped to the floor and screamed.

"Ghost! GHOST! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!"

Just as Yu Holea turned to leave the Fu mansion, she suddenly paused.

Her eyes narrowed.

She raised her hand and snapped her fingers once more.

The ashes that were scattered across the hallway floor began to float, slowly rising into the air like black feathers caught in a breeze.

They swirled gently, then floated toward her.

Yu Holea opened her talisman pouch, and the ashes slipped neatly inside like they belonged there.

She whispered to herself, "Even if it’s just a puppet... I might learn something from this."

Without another word, she turned and quietly left the mansion.

Once outside, she finally took a deep breath.

The cold night air filled her lungs.

She looked up at the stars and whispered, "It’s not over... but it’s progress."

Even though she hadn’t destroyed the real witch, she had managed to trap and destroy the puppet.

It was proof that the cursed array worked.

That was enough for now.

She returned to the hotel and collapsed onto the bed, deciding to rest for a few hours before taking her next step.

.............

Far away from the capital, in a dark, lonely hut hidden deep in the forest...

A strange silence filled the air.

Inside the hut, a tall figure sat in the middle of the room.

The witch.

She was wearing her usual black robe, one that covered her completely from head to toe. No part of her skin was visible—not her face, not her hands.

But suddenly, her body began to twitch.

Her robe shook as if something was going wrong inside.

Then...

Swoosh!

A human head shot out from inside the robe and floated in the air.

It was the witch’s head—but horrifyingly, she had no body.

Just a floating head, glowing faintly with dark energy.

The witch’s eyes glowed with rage as her head began to spin wildly.

Bang!

Her head crashed into the wall with a loud thud and then fell onto the dusty floor.

The witch gritted her teeth, shaking from anger.

"Yu Holea..." she spat out. "She ruins everything! Every single time!!"

Her voice echoed off the stone walls.

She wanted to attack Yu Holea, to destroy her once and for all—but she couldn’t.

She didn’t have the strength anymore.

Her powers were fading.

And worst of all... her daughter, Mirai, was gone.

Mirai’s soul had been taken away. Her body was no longer under the witch’s control.

Without her daughter, the witch had no helper. No hands. No feet. No one to collect souls or prepare sacrifices.

She was all alone now.

Hopeless and angry, the witch began to curse Yu Holea and her entire bloodline.

"Yu Lin ruined me once... and now his people are doing it again," she whispered bitterly.

Her voice trembled—not from fear, but from frustration and hate.

She sat there for a while in silence, her floating head hovering just above the ground.

Finally, she whispered, "It’s time... to use my last card."

Slowly, she closed her eyes and began to chant a forbidden spell.

The ground beneath her started to bubble and shift.

The hard dirt turned soft... like mud.

Then the mud turned into something that looked like black water.

From that dark water, a woman’s face slowly appeared.

The woman looked elegant but cold, and her long black hair floated on the surface like seaweed.

When she saw the witch’s floating head, the woman calmly said,

"Why do you want to speak with me, sister?"

The witch opened her glowing eyes and said clearly,

"I need sacrifices."

The woman laughed softly.

"I’ve already done so much for you," she said. "I seduced Yu Lin, just like you told me. I had his child. I swapped the babies at birth. And when you asked me to give you my daughter’s body, I didn’t say a word. I did everything you wanted."

Her voice was bitter now.

"And now, you want more?"

The witch smirked, her head tilting slightly.

"You say that like you didn’t gain anything."

"You’re living in a luxury mansion, aren’t you? All thanks to Yu Lin. Who taught you how to win his heart? Me. Who helped you build that perfect image of a quiet, sweet woman? Me. And now you’re acting like I owe you?"

The woman in the water frowned.

"It’s not like I wanted to be with Yu Lin in the first place."

The witch’s eyes narrowed.

"But you still benefited. You got his money. His protection. You lived comfortably for years."

There was a long silence between the two sisters.

There was a long silence between the two sisters.

The woman in the water stared at the witch’s floating head, her face calm but unreadable.

Then, finally, she spoke.

"What do you want this time?" she asked, her voice low and cold.

The witch didn’t speak right away. Her eyes were glowing faintly, her lips pressed in a thin line.

Then she said slowly, "I want either Yu Lin dead... or Yu Holea."

The woman’s eyes widened a little.

Then she chuckled.

"You gave me Yu Lin’s love, sister. You made me his wife. And now you want him dead? If he dies, I won’t get any more benefits."

The witch sneered.

"Still the same selfish little snake you’ve always been."

She took a deep breath and explained.

"I’m not asking you to do both. I’m giving you two options. One—take away all of Yu Lin’s property and kill him after. Two—lure Yu Holea to Yu Mansion and kill her once and for all."

Yu Mei’s mother, the sister, raised an eyebrow.

"That won’t work," she said, calmly. "If I try to kill Yu Holea, I’ll have half the world chasing me. She’s protected. She’s powerful. I’m not risking everything just for your grudge."

The witch let out a low chuckle.

"Don’t worry about being hunted. Have they ever found out where you live in the past twenty years?"

The sister stayed silent.

"That’s because of my magic," the witch said proudly. "No one has ever tracked you down. You’ve lived in luxury, hidden away, while the world thinks you vanished."

Yu Mei’s mother looked uncertain.

"There’s too much risk. I said no."

But the witch wasn’t worried.

Her eyes glowed brighter.

"I know where your daughter is," she said.

The woman froze.

"What?"

"I said..." the witch leaned forward, grinning, "...I know where Yu Mei is."

For a long moment, the woman said nothing.

Then she whispered, "Where is she?"

The witch’s grin widened.

Finally, she had her sister where she wanted her.

She could tell—even though her sister always acted cold and distant, she still cared. Deep inside, she still loved her daughter, Yu Mei.
