Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All-Chapter 845: Marriage Certificate
Yu Lin paused, fork halfway to his mouth. He looked up at her, confused.
Ruo Lan smiled sweetly and continued, "I mean... if you show them you’re trying, maybe they’ll understand you more. Maybe they’ll even forgive you."
Yu Lin didn’t say anything.
Ruo Lan leaned closer, her voice soft and thoughtful. "You could invite them over. Start simple. Just a small dinner. No pressure. Just talk to them. Let them know your side of the story... let them hear your pain."
Yu Lin stared at the table, silent.
But deep inside, her words made sense.
He had never explained himself to his children. Never told them how hard it had been for him. They only saw his mistakes. Not his struggles.
’Maybe... maybe if they knew the truth, they wouldn’t hate me so much, he thought.’
His mind wandered, ’Maybe... maybe even Mrs. Yu... she might come back.’
Yes, the idea grew stronger. ’So what if they’re divorced? People remarry all the time. He could still bring her back. She was polite, kind, quiet... the perfect wife for the public. And Ruo Lan? She would stay in the shadows like always. He could have both. Just like before.’
His eyes filled with tears. He looked at Ruo Lan and said in a shaky voice, "You... you understand me better than anyone else. I’m so grateful to have you."
Ruo Lan smiled.
But in her heart, she felt nothing but disgust.
’Grateful? That’s it? You still want your wife back?’
Still, she kept her face sweet.
Then she asked softly, "If you’re really going to invite your family for dinner... should I stay? Or should I leave for a while?"
Yu Lin didn’t even hesitate.
"You should leave."
Ruo Lan froze.
Her smile faded a little, just for a second.
Then she looked down and nodded slowly. "I see..."
Inside, she was fuming.
’You really are cold-blooded. You still only care about her. You want to fix things with the wife you treated like a stranger... and once again, you want to push me away like trash.’
She wanted to scream, to throw the plate at his head. But she didn’t.
Instead, she looked up with a soft, sad smile and said, "You’re right. I’m just the mistress. My presence might upset your children and Mrs. Yu. I’ll stay away."
She lowered her gaze and added in a gentle, broken voice, "It’s okay... I’ll hide."
Yu Lin’s heart twisted.
Looking at her sad, pitiful expression, he felt a wave of guilt.
She had been with him through so much. Hiding for thirty years. Loving him in secret. And now... he’d just told her to leave again.
He opened his mouth to say something, but before he could speak, Ruo Lan stood up and placed her napkin down.
"I’m full," she said softly. "I’ll go rest now."
She turned and walked away.
Yu Lin stared at her back as she left, feeling like he had just stabbed someone who had protected him all his life.
’Why did I say that?’
He cursed himself under his breath.
’Ruo Lan’s done everything for me. And I... I keep letting her down.’
He didn’t eat another bite that night.
Meanwhile, Ruo Lan entered the guest bedroom and quietly shut the door.
The moment the door closed, her sweet expression vanished like smoke.
She rolled her eyes, walked over to the mirror, and tied up her hair in a tight bun.
"Stupid man," she muttered. "Still dreaming of that polite wife of yours? Idiot."
She picked up her phone, dialed a number, and smiled wickedly as it rang.
When the call picked up, she whispered, "Meet me at that hotel near Yu Mansion. I’m in the mood to blow off some steam."
Her voice was sharp and playful.
"You can bring the wine this time. I’ll handle the rest."
She hung up and tossed the phone on the bed.
Then she pulled out a red dress from her suitcase, the one she always saved for special nights.
"I gave you thirty years, Yu Lin," she said to the mirror with a smirk. "Now I’ll take back everything."
That night, after dinner, the mansion was quiet.
The moonlight spilled through the windows, casting long shadows on the cold marble floors.
Ruo Lan sat in the guest bedroom with the lamp turned low. She had changed out of her red dress and was now sitting at the desk, quietly reading over a thick contract her lawyer had given her, something about property rights and inheritance laws.
Her lips curled into a smile as she flipped a page. Everything was going exactly as planned.
But then—knock knock.
The door made a soft sound.
Ruo Lan’s smile vanished. She quickly hid the contract inside a drawer, walked to the mirror, and took out a small eyedropper from her purse. With practiced hands, she squeezed two drops into each eye. They turned red instantly, and she gently dabbed the corners with a tissue.
Then she opened the door.
There stood Yu Lin, looking tired, guilty, and sad.
Ruo Lan lowered her gaze and sniffed as if she had been crying all night.
Yu Lin’s heart ached at the sight. His voice trembled. "Ruo Lan... can we talk?"
She nodded silently and stepped aside.
He stepped in, staring at her red eyes. "I’m sorry," he said quickly. "I said such thoughtless things earlier. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I just... I didn’t want to pressure you."
Ruo Lan looked at him with soft, teary eyes and whispered, "Why are you saying this now?"
Yu Lin felt even worse. Without warning, he stepped forward and hugged her tightly. She stiffened a little but didn’t push him away.
"I’m sorry," he said again. "You’ve been through so much... hiding in the dark for thirty years. I didn’t mean to treat you like a shadow again."
Ruo Lan slowly pulled back and gave him a confused, innocent look. "Then... why did you want me to leave during dinner?"
Yu Lin sighed deeply. "I was afraid... afraid that if my children saw you, things would get worse. I also thought... maybe I should give the title of Mrs. Yu back to my ex-wife. Maybe it would fix things."
Inside, Ruo Lan was screaming.
So you’re still thinking about her?!
But on the outside, she looked calm, her voice sweet and soft. "Yu Lin... It’s okay. I understand. If you still love her, I won’t stop you. I just want you to be happy."
Her smile was gentle, full of fake kindness. "You don’t have to choose me. I’ve stayed hidden for thirty years. What’s a few more, right?"
Yu Lin’s eyes widened. He felt like he was the worst man alive.
"No!" he said firmly. "You’ve waited long enough. If you still want to be Mrs. Yu... we’ll get married. Tomorrow."
Ruo Lan blinked, pretending to be surprised. "Tomorrow?"
"Yes," Yu Lin nodded. "I’ll take responsibility. I should’ve done this a long time ago."
Truthfully, Ruo Lan wanted to say yes right away. She needed the title to gain any legal right over his property. But she played it cool.
She shook her head lightly. "I... I want it. But I understand your situation. You’re still going through so much. I don’t want to rush you."
Yu Lin didn’t care. "No more delays. I’ve made up my mind. We’ll get married tomorrow."
Ruo Lan smiled a little and said softly, "If you say so..." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The next morning, just as the sun rose, they went to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Everything was quick and quiet. No big party. No guests. Just two signatures and two red booklets.
As they stepped out of the building, Yu Lin looked down at the wedding certificate and felt... something strange. It wasn’t happiness. It wasn’t regret either. Just a strange numbness.
Meanwhile, Ruo Lan stood beside him, holding the certificate in both hands.
She stared at it like it was a dream.
Her voice was small and soft, almost like a whisper. "Yu Lin... is this real? Am I really Mrs. Yu now?"
Her eyes were wide, her cheeks slightly red, her hands trembling as if she couldn’t believe it.
Yu Lin looked at her and finally smiled. "Yes... You’re my wife now."
Seeing her look so happy, he felt something warm in his chest.
’This is what she wanted all along, he thought. She never smiled like this when I bought her that 30-carat diamond ring. But now... she’s glowing. This is real happiness.’
If Ruo Lan could hear his thoughts, she would’ve laughed.
’Of course I didn’t act happy about the ring, she would’ve said. If I hadn’t, you wouldn’t have bought me that luxury car the next week.’
But Yu Lin didn’t know that.
He only saw her kind eyes, her sweet smile, and her soft voice. And in that moment, he truly believed, ’this woman... this woman loves me more than anyone else ever could.’
