Chapter 864: Chapter 864: Mental Demon

Qiao Jun was so happy that he hugged Yu Holea tightly, but carefully. He didn’t want to press on her stomach or make her uncomfortable. With gentle hands, he led her to the table and helped her sit down.

"Come on, sit. You need to eat something good. For you... and our babies," he said with a soft smile.

Yu Holea looked at him and smiled too. "You’re acting like I’m made of glass."

"You are made of glass now," Qiao Jun said seriously as he pulled out a chair for her. "Precious, beautiful, glass."

She laughed, and the sound made Qiao Jun’s heart feel warm.

As she started eating the small snacks he had prepared, Qiao Jun looked at her and asked, "Did you tell anyone else?"

Yu Holea shook her head. "No. You’re the first person I told. I couldn’t tell anyone before telling you."

Qiao Jun chuckled, then leaned forward and softly kissed her forehead. "I really, truly love you. Thank you... for working so hard. I’ll be with you every step of the way."

Yu Holea giggled and shook her head. "Don’t be so dramatic..."

But just as the two were lost in their loving moment, something serious was happening far away.

........

Leng Huan stood in front of his grandfather, his eyes full of frustration. He had been trying to find justice for Mirai for so long, but it felt like no one understood him.

Grandpa Leng sat in his chair, calm and firm. "Huan, it’s time to let go of Yu Mei. That girl... she’s not coming back."

Leng Huan clenched his fists. "I can’t let go. I just... I can’t live without her. She chased me for so many years, and I didn’t even realize when I fell in love with her."

Grandpa Leng’s face darkened. "If you continue chasing her, I’ll kick you out of this house. Let your half-brother take your place."

Leng Huan’s face turned pale. His chest tightened. He bit his lip and lowered his head.

Grandpa Leng’s voice became softer. "I know you liked Yu Mei. But it’s been four years. She’s gone. And from what I’ve learned... she deserved her punishment. Yu Holea had every right to do what she did."

"No!" Leng Huan shouted suddenly. "I won’t forget her! I can’t!"

But Grandpa Leng slammed his cane on the floor. "If you even mention her name again, I’ll remove you from everything!"

Leng Huan stood there in silence, his fists clenched tight, his eyes red. That night, he returned to his room and stared at the old photos of Mirai. She was smiling in them... happy... alive.

He remembered the times when she, while in Yu Mei’s body, supported him, helped him rise, never asked for anything in return. She had been everything to him once.

But time passed.

Eventually, he got engaged to another heiress. At first, he ignored her. He thought about Mirai every day.

But the heiress was gentle, kind, and slowly... his heart changed.

She never forced him to forget Mirai. Instead, she loved him quietly and supported him like a true partner.

And just like that, Mirai faded into his past.

.......

Meanwhile... somewhere darker...

Mirai’s soul was trapped.

Yu Holea kept her close, using her for dangerous missions. Sometimes, ghosts would attack Mirai. Other times, Yu Holea will let her suffer all the pain she had inflicted on other innocent people. It was endless.

Mirai suffered so much that she didn’t want to exist anymore. She cried, begged, and screamed.

After nearly five years of torment, she finally broke down.

"Please..." she begged. "I’ll bless your children... I’ll protect their souls... Just let me go..."

In the first year, she was scared, in the second year she cultivated her soul and scarficied pieces of her soul for good deeds by handing them over to Yu Holea in the hopes that her sins would be reduced.

However, Yu Holea never praised her; however, Mirai could feel her merits rising each single day.

She regretted harming Yu Holea and even told the truth to Yu Holea.

Mirai was reborn. In her past life, after taking Yu Mei’s body, she thought her journey would be smooth sailing, but the Yu brothers eventually found the real Yu Holea and started to pamper her.

Yu Holea then transformed and eventually became a rising star in the medical industry and even led the Yu family to rise.

In that life, Mirai eventually died after no growth in her soul, and she came to know about the secrets she had never known.

One of them is Yu Holea, and Mirai’s destiny clashed. Only one of them will survive while the other is destined to perish. And in that lifetime, she, Mirai, was the one who perished.

In this lifetime, when Mirai was reborn, she had joined the Black Chruch Cult to grow her soul in order not to die miserably like the previous time.

She was hellbent on killing Yu Holea and the Yu family completely.

When Yu Holea knew the truth, she was surprised. After all, Mirai’s story was completely different from what she had suffered, and her surprise became even more apparent when she got to know about Sheng Yin’s side of the story.

Eventually, she reached a conclusion...

All of them had lived an alternate life in a parallel world before getting reborn in this life together.

Maybe... this life was the final attempt for them to correct, and she won the bet...

To judge her theory, she even went as far as calculating for Mirai’s future reincarnation and realised that her theory was indeed correct.

In the next lifetime time Mirai will not be reborn in some alternate parallel world but as an ordinary farmer’s daughter.

She wanted to ignore Mirai’s pleas; however, Mirai’s last offer tempted her. It was because she had noticed that something was indeed off with her daughter.

She had already punished Mirai long enough, and the other misdeeds will be punished by the gods above. Hence she let her go.

Mirai kept her promise.

She used her remaining soul energy to bless the twins, praying for their safety, even during the dangerous storms of life.

Then, with the last bit of merit she had gathered by doing good, she finally entered the reincarnation cycle.

....................

The sun shone gently over the courtyard of the Qiao family’s private villa. Flowers bloomed, birds sang, and a warm breeze danced through the air.

Everything looked peaceful from the outside.

But inside the nursery room, Yu Holea stood by the window, watching her daughter with worry written all over her face.

Her daughter, Qiao Yun, was only five years old. A bright, clever child with dark eyes that held more emotion than most adults.

She had soft features and her mother’s grace, but her eyes... her eyes were heavy.

Too heavy.

Even at such a young age, she rarely smiled.

She didn’t cry when she got hurt. She didn’t laugh at silly things.

Even though her twin brother was as smart as her and even tried to cheer her up, but still she remained unperturbed.

Qiao Yun would just sit there, quietly drawing talismans with chalk, staring at them as if trying to understand something no one else could see.

Yu Holea sighed softly.

She had noticed it the first time Qiao Yun touched a talisman brush. The power that flowed through her fingers... it was shocking.

Even Yu Holea, a master of talismans, had never seen a child with such natural talent.

Qiao Yun could draw complicated talismans with almost no training, and her spiritual energy was purer than anything the elders had ever sensed in a child.

But the problem wasn’t her talent.

Or rather... the darkness in it.

Sometimes Qiao Yun would stare at the moon for hours without blinking, whispering strange things like,

"I still died... but why? I never harmed them... so why?"

"They succeeded in killing him too... he was the only one who had brightened the dark days of my life. I miss him."

"Has the world completely submerged into darkness?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

And once... once she had said something that made Yu Holea’s blood run cold:

"Mother, I am scared... the portals will open and the humans will die soon."

That night, Yu Holea had stayed awake until dawn, guarding her daughter with protective charms and spiritual barriers. But nothing seemed to help.

The girl’s spiritual energy was growing stronger every day, but so was the shadow deep inside her soul, a shadow that didn’t belong to a child.

"This child has a mental demon. A very strong one. And if she doesn’t deal with it... she won’t live past the age of 10." Qiao Jun announced after taking their daughter to a celestial master.

At least that was what Qiao Jun told her. But Yu Holea, who had installed a camera on her daughter’s t-shirt, came to know about a completely different truth.

Her master... who had died in her previous life... was alive! Not only that! She has two disciples!
