Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 185: Future Plans
Giving a sweet smile, she stated, "A monthly credit of 10,000. And sponsor me till the end of this year."
For a moment, the entire atmosphere fell silent, as if the people present in the room couldn’t believe their ears. While Axel looked as if his soul was sucked out.
’She is gone!’
"Miss Lana, your deal might have been tempting, but I don’t see what I am gaining. From my perspective, you want a free sponsor who can’t control you." Troy stated in a calm voice.
"Hm, so here is the beneficial part. I heard that the record for the breakthrough to Earth rank is 7 years." Lana asked in a calm voice; the confidence on her face made everyone’s breath hitch.
"It is." Troy nodded; he always keeps a tab on the various records on the international level in the hopes that he will find a talent who could break them once.
"It is." Troy nodded, pushing his glasses up with a slow, deliberate motion.
Lana didn’t recoil. Instead, she smiled, calm and terrifyingly confident.
"That’s good," she replied. "Because I intend to break that record."
Troy’s eyelids lowered just a fraction, interest sharpening. "You intend to break the world record for Earth rank advancement?" he repeated slowly, as if tasting the words.
When Lana gave a nod, he leaned back on his chair and laughed softly.
"I don’t intend to ridicule you, but... this is the last year; even if you make a breakthrough one day after your graduation, my university won’t gain any advantage." Troy’s words made his flaw in Lana’s proposal become visible.
His words were logical. Even the geniuses among the mystic cultivators aren’t capable enough to cross the threshold of Earth rank within 5 years, let alone one!
"Well, I did break through to Yellow Rank way before anyone could." Lana pointed.
"Aren’t you acting a bit arrogant?" Troy laughed; his words were edged with teasing.
"No." Lana shook her head. "I would be arrogant if I said that I can cross the threshold of Earth Rank within 6 months."
Even though Lana made it seem like she was speaking about a completely difficult outcome, her expression showcased how true it was for her.
Lana truly believed that she could reach the Earth rank within 6 months, let alone a year!
’You are being overconfident!’ Mr. Crow perched on Lana’s shoulder and murmured.
’No,’ Lana responded inwardly, her gaze never leaving Troy. ’I am simply stating a fact.’
"Alright." Troy stared at Lana with a quiet gaze. "I will trust you, but if I don’t see the expected result... You will have to pay me compensation. I will make an official contract just so both parties’ interests can be secured."
Troy had already figured everything out. If his scheme worked out, he would gain another excellent teacher for his university, or even if it failed, his university would be famous.
Meanwhile, Axel looked at Lana with a complicated gaze.
When the contract was made, Lana arched a brow. It was a simple contract without any loopholes. Only the compensation for breaching it was... sky high.
Either Lana would have to pay $100 billion or teach at Shadowridge University for 40 years.
Sigh! Damn capitalist!
But...
Lana was pretty confident in taking this bet. She realized that with her cultivation speed, she might reach the Earth rank by semester’s end!
After signing the contract, Troy even kindly stated, "If you are able to fulfill the contract, the Almond family will never dare to harm you!"
Lana’s eyes sparkled, and she nodded. "Then I would thank the principal for his kindness."
With the contract in her hand, Lana left with a satisfied smile and started to dance in the hallways.
Mr. Crow perched comfortably on Lana’s shoulder, his feathers brushing lightly against her collarbone.
The cool evening air drifted around them, carrying the faint scent of wet leaves and distant incense from the cultivation halls.
He let out a soft, amused caw before speaking.
"You look ridiculously happy. Is it because you finally secured a contract where your future is no longer a terrifying question mark?"
Lana nodded so enthusiastically her ponytail bounced against her back.
"Of course. Now I can actually use my money however I want. I can finally build a path toward true financial independence."
Mr. Crow tilted his head, his black eyes narrowing with suspicion.
The faint rustle of his wings brushed her cheek. "There’s something more to that tone. What exactly do you mean, Lana?"
Lana inhaled deeply, savoring the crisp air that cooled her lungs.
"It means that even with the one billion dollars I already had, I never dared to invest or buy assets," she replied.
"I kept worrying that I’d need every last coin for cultivation resources. I didn’t want to risk anything."
Her voice softened, almost as if she were confessing a secret to the night sky.
"But now... there’s someone else who will take care of my resources. All I need to do is cultivate... and invest."
She felt a strange warmth bloom in her chest, and a foolish grin tugged at her lips. Mr. Crow let out a baffled caw.
"Invest in what? What are you plotting now?"
Lana’s grin only widened, bright and unrestrained. "Lands," she whispered excitedly.
"Business. Machines. Weapons. I know the future models, the future designs. I can modify every blueprint and hand them to Nixon. He can mass-produce the weapons, and I’ll get royalties for every upgraded model that sells."
Her fingers curled slightly as if she were already holding imaginary stacks of cash.
"With those royalties, I’ll invest again in assets, companies, anything that grows. Once I accumulate enough, I’ll have a stream of passive income. And once that income compounds..."
She raised her chin, confidence shimmering around her like a warm aura.
"...I won’t be far from becoming a billionaire on my own."
A rare silence fell over Mr. Crow. Even the night breeze seemed to pause.
Then he muttered in absolute awe, "You really planned every corner of your life."
