Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 231 - 225: Dragon Lizard Bloodline Potion
After seeing off the envoy from Baisha Port, silence returned to the reception hall.
Raylo’s fingers tapped unconsciously on the armrest. The gift list still lay on the table, like a tempting pot of honey.
Political marriages were as common as daily meals for the nobility.
But he was no ordinary noble. His ambitions extended far beyond simply holding onto a single territory.
Marquis Orlando’s olive branch—whether to accept it, and if so, how—required careful consideration.
Beside him, Moonlight gently nudged his arm with its head.
Raylo snapped back to reality. He suddenly found the act of tapping his fingers on the armrest a bit old-fashioned, so he stopped and stood up.
"Forget it. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it."
Raylo muttered to himself, putting away the gift list.
He decided that after dealing with his current affairs, he would personally make a trip to Baisha Port to visit Marquis Orlando and see the renowned beauty of Miss Avril for himself.
He stood, ready to return to his study and handle the pile of territorial affairs.
However, just as he walked out of the castle’s main keep, he ran right into a hurrying Ed, his Personal Guard Captain.
"Lord, Master Barnaby requests your presence. He says he’s had a major breakthrough in his research on the Dragon Descendant Knights."
Ed’s voice was tinged with excitement.
Raylo’s spirits lifted, and he temporarily pushed all thoughts of the marriage alliance to the back of his mind.
Compared to the vague and ephemeral games of politics, a tangible increase in strength was far more substantial.
"Let’s go take a look."
The afternoon sun was warm and gentle.
The workshop’s chimney was emitting plumes of pale green smoke that twisted as they rose into the sky.
The moment Raylo stepped through the workshop’s main doors, a figure in a gray Mage Robe with hair as messy as a bird’s nest rushed out from behind a pile of bottles and jars.
"Lord! My Lord!"
Master Barnaby wore a mischievous grin.
"I heard you sold yourself for a good price!"
He leaned in, mysteriously rubbing two fingers together like a shrewd merchant.
"Marquis Orlando of Baisha Port is rolling in it. Tsk tsk, I heard that gift list is enough to arm another large Knight Order. So, how about it, our future Marquis’s son-in-law? When are you going to let us get in on some of that good fortune?"
Raylo’s face darkened.
It wasn’t surprising that news traveled fast in noble circles, but hearing it from Barnaby’s mouth, it just felt wrong.
"But this business with women!"
Master Barnaby looked utterly heartbroken.
"If you’re a Knight, a woman will slow the speed of your draw."
"If you’re a Mage, a woman will interfere with the focus of your Meditation."
"Lord, you are a Magic Knight! Believe me, that woman Avril will completely destroy your future."
"Master."
Raylo looked at him helplessly.
"I only said I would pay a visit. I haven’t made a final decision."
Master Barnaby still wouldn’t let it go, so in the end, Raylo had to play his trump card.
"Master, if you joke about this again, I’ll have to cut your next quarter’s funding in half."
The effect was immediate.
Master Barnaby immediately dropped his cynical expression and put on a serious face, as if he wasn’t the money-grubber from a moment ago.
"Ahem, just a joke to liven things up. To business, to business!"
He pulled Raylo along, striding quickly toward the Alchemy Platform in the center of the workshop.
On the Alchemy Platform, twelve Crystal Bottles were neatly arranged. They contained a dark red, viscous liquid. As it swirled in the light, faint phantoms of tiny scales seemed to flash within, exuding a wild aura.
"Look at this!"
Master Barnaby picked up a Crystal Bottle as if showing off his most brilliant work of art.
"A Tier Three Dragon Lizard Bloodline Potion! Perfect! And with no side effects!"
His eyes shone with a fanatical light as he explained, spittle flying from his mouth.
"I used the Iron-Backed Dragon Lizard Essence Blood you brought back as the core ingredient, fused it with materials from seven different Demonized Creatures and twelve Magic Plants, and after hundreds of failed refinements and formulations, I’ve finally succeeded!"
"This is nothing like what you get from those oafish Earth Dragons!"
Barnaby pointed at the Potion, his voice growing more and more passionate.
"The Earth Dragon bloodline mainly enhances Power and defense, with almost no benefit to agility. But this is different! This Dragon Lizard Bloodline Potion enhances Power, agility, and constitution! It’s an all-around enhancement! A Knight who consumes it will experience a comprehensive leap in power, agility, and physique! They will become true all-rounders on the battlefield!"
Raylo picked up a Potion and could clearly feel the surging power contained within.
This power was more restrained than that of the Earth Dragon bloodline, but it wasn’t weaker. In fact, it was even stronger.
He could imagine what a terrifying boost in strength a Great Knight would receive after fusing with this bloodline.
"Excellent work, Master."
Raylo praised him sincerely.
"Black Stone Territory will remember your contribution."
Master Barnaby grunted smugly twice, enjoying his Lord’s praise.
But soon, his gaze grew fiery again, as if it could pierce through the workshop walls and see toward the mountain behind the castle.
"Say, Raylo..."
He rubbed his hands together, his tone turning somewhat fawning.
"This Tier Three Potion is just the beginning. You see, those six Sky Dragons you brought back from the Fiery Sun Kingdom..."
Raylo’s eyelid twitched. He already knew what Barnaby was about to say.
"If you just hand them over to me... no, not all of them, just give me half! And with enough resources, I guarantee you!"
Master Barnaby held up one finger, his eyes frighteningly bright.
"In less than a year, I can absolutely develop a Tier Four Flying Dragon Bloodline Potion! Just think of it, a Flying Dragon Knight Order that can soar through the skies! We could put the Griffin Knights out of a job!"
Far away in the Beast Cage, Storm Griffin King Baofeng, who had been dozing, suddenly sneezed.
Raylo was speechless.
This Alchemy Master was now trying to entice him with an even bigger promise.
"Master, they’re still just Young Dragons."
Raylo refused without hesitation.
"Their potential is far greater than being ingredients for a vial of Potion. We will discuss this matter later."
Hearing the resolve in Raylo’s tone, Master Barnaby’s shoulders slumped, and he muttered things like "stingy" and "such a waste of heavenly treasures" under his breath.
Raylo pretended not to hear him. He carefully placed the twelve bottles of Dragon Lizard Bloodline Potion into a special case.
"Let’s go, Master. Our Warriors are waiting."
...
Inside the castle’s great hall, the atmosphere was solemn and dignified.
Twelve Knights in black Knight Armor stood in two neat rows, silent and still in the center of the hall.
Each one of them stood as straight as a pine tree, exuding the Iron Blood aura of seasoned battlefield veterans.
These men were all Tier Two Great Knights who had achieved great merit in the war against the Fiery Sun Kingdom and were unfailingly loyal to Black Stone Territory.
They were the backbone of the Black Stone Knight Order, true elite veterans of a hundred battles.
