Chapter 1062: Chapter D426: King of Terminals and the Otherworldly Knight (2)

The sweet shop run by the couple once thrived with customers swarming, the business booming.

Even as the number of Half Angels increased, these one-winged beings became more versatile, able to precisely calculate ratios and create desserts more delicious, healthier, and perfect for families than humans ever could.

Yet for humans of the past, these treats created by fellow beings, perhaps carrying some flaws, always retained a unique allure.

However, as humans aged and generations changed, the number of guests naturally dwindled.

Truthfully, this wasn’t entirely bad, because as they grew older, they could no longer make as many desserts.

Speaking of this, the shopkeeper couple shared a knowing smile, a smile that mixed relief with a trace of indescribable loneliness.

As of now, only a few old patrons would send their household’s Half Angels to purchase something. And young human guests like the Empress had faded from the couple’s memory.

After all, Half Angels need no entertainment, nor do they pursue culinary delights, not even containing the word "enjoy" in their vocabulary.

Their entire existence is devoted to meticulously taking care of humans and offering fervent prayers to their Lord.

The once bustling sites in the Magic Guide Terminal have long since lost their users, with information stalled in the distant past.

Where to find the best food, which places are fun, any new events recently... discussions about these are meaningless to Angels, they merely exist in the terminal to cater to humanity’s nature.

"Thank you, young one, for listening to us old folks ramble for so long..."

"You’re welcome, I have gained much." Although considering age, the Empress might not be much younger than the elderly couple, she still responded warmly.

The rare conversation and witnessing the Empress enjoying sweet treats delighted the shopkeeper couple, but their aged bodies let fatigue crawl upon their faces.

Watching the shopkeeper couple leave with support from their Half Angel staff, the Empress turned her gaze to the untouched Dessert Tower on the table.

At the spot originally adorned by fresh strawberries on the cake, a phantom rabbit head seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

"That’s why you’re so thin." The Empress extended a silver fork, waving it over its head.

Elf Rabbits are elves of the mountains and forests, or simply put, they’re elves of the world, birthed from the "changes" and "flows" of all things.

Thus, they relentlessly chase the unknown and the miraculous, appearing before those special people and incidents. The more extraordinary, the larger the flow, bringing changes to the world.

Yet both the unknown and the miraculous are ever-scarce in today’s Kingdom.

Humankind lost its Magic Power and the spirit to pioneer and assault, Magic Power resources within the Kingdom concentrating almost entirely with the Angel Clan.

Though Elf Rabbits are beings impossible to imprison or kill, in this land tending towards the known, they resemble fish out of water, headed inevitably towards suffocation and demise.

Perhaps that is why it took refuge in the belongings of a mother Moon Person passing by.

Even though Moon People lack change more than Angels do, the distant Moon City is even worse off than the Kingdom.

But a Moon Person within the Angel Country, unwilling to be assimilated, coupled with her mental power safeguarding the Emerald-Starred Key, this combination made her one of the few variables.

Having devoured the desserts, the Empress gracefully wiped her ruby lips before getting up and leaving to continue her transfers.

The train hummed, the scenery changed. Whenever she arrived at a city, she would visit the local prestigious dessert shop, but most had either gone out of business or been taken over by Half Angels, with showcases filled with crafted sweets bereft of any tasting appeal.

If only a few shops were like this, it wouldn’t be too bad, but every shop was identical, even the city streets showed little difference, no matter how many train transfers, it felt as if she never changed places.

Within a week of entering the Kingdom, the initial freshness had faded away, enveloping her heart with a feeling of emptiness and dull weariness.

It’s easy to imagine how unbearable such an environment would be for Elf Rabbits.

As the train headed south, fewer people cast glances towards the Empress. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Not because her Charm diminished, but due to the sparse layout of southern cities, where rails still extend, yet no traces of human life are visible.

Remembering the Magic Guide Terminal’s description of the former Saint City, the girl softly sighed:

"Saint City, the only city not embraced by the divine walls..."

Purification Light Wall, Holy White Wall.

Just as she initially guessed, built gradually after the Light Wall spread for over ten years, the towering giant wall even extended to the sea, surrounding the entire Kingdom.

However, the only land not enclosed is the former Saint City, the headquarters of the "Church" Professional Guild.

[Is there anyone left in Saint City? (20-None, Time-30, 50+Still with Saintess)]

The train slowly halted, an announcement declared the arrival at the terminal station.
