Global Disaster: I Will Slay Gods In This Second Chance!-Chapter 36: Liberty of the West
New World City, Liberty.
In the tallest residential building in the city, the thick scent of perfume and alcohol wafted in the air, slow jazz playing from the hidden speakers.
Expensive hundred-year old exotic wine spilled over the floor, wetting the panties, bras, and clothes that were scattered around messily.
On the bed, silky sheets tangled in disarray as several beautiful women of different types lay on the bed, completely nude.
Exhaustion weighed on their faces, yet a trace of bliss lingered in their eyes.
"Haa... master..."
The jazz music blended with the women’s slow and unsteady breathing/.
On top, a large ancient chandelier hung in the room, casting a glow on everything beneath.
Looking beyond the window, a tall man wearing a loose bathrobe stood straight, completely immersed in his own world.
The man was around 6’8 feet tall, with a toned and muscular build.
He had a sharp, chiseled jaw and masculine features, making him qualified to be called an Adonis.
But perhaps the most striking feature on his face was his eyes, resembling that of a wolf’s predatory glare.
An ordinary person would crumble under his gaze, that was if they hadn’t already been deterred by the sheer gravity of his arrogant presence.
The man looked beyond the window, overseeing the entire capital from his position.
His gaze was filled with barely disguised hunger and ambition, as though he was claiming the world as his own.
"Michael..."
One of the women suddenly dropped to the ground, calling out his name lewdly.
"Come back... where are you~"
But the man known as Michael didn’t even look, his reflection showing a faint smile.
"Ah, how I missed the taste of freedom."
Michael let out a small sigh. He brought the wine glass to his lips, sipping briefly.
Sip...
Afterwards, he tastefully licked his lips.
"Although it’s nothing compared to spiritual wine, after years of struggling, even the ordinary wine feels so amazing."
A thirsty man in the desert would kill for even a droplet of water.
Michael finally realized the incredible truth of this phrase.
He had truly thirsted for wine for so long!
But perhaps, it wasn’t just wine that he thirsted for; it was what it represented.
Freedom and pleasure!
Sex, alcohol, money, and complete utter power!
Michael Reegan put his hand over the mirror, an arrogant smirk appearing on his face.
His name was Michael Reegan, but he was more known by his title in his previous life.
Beyond!
Michael suddenly felt a hand on his feet, seeing one of the women crawl over to him.
He couldn’t help but be filled with joy.
For once, he found the Apostles and their God quite appealing!
If they could lower themselves to him, Michael could even consider forgiving them.
Life without pleasure was hell, and Michael vowed to enjoy this moment as long as it lasted.
At that moment, somebody rang the doorbell.
Ring!
Michael crouched down and grabbed the woman, bringing her down to the bed softly.
Then, he glanced at the door and spoke.
"Come in."
The electric door opened, revealing a short, stout man with a fawning smile.
"Mr. Reegan, I trust you have been fine?"
If anyone outside saw this short, stout man being so respectful, they would be utterly shocked.
This unpleasant man was the current President of Liberty, Hilbert Homes!
After the sudden death of the previous president during a national conference, Hilbert assumed the presidency to restore order amid the nation’s chaos.
Being the president before and during the disaster were two completely different things!
The terrifying impact of the First Era Ending Calamity unshackled the current President’s power, granting him unlimited authority at his discretion!
But Hilbert, who controlled one of the strongest nations in the current century, was being respectful to another person!
But to Hilbert, it wasn’t respect—but fear!
Pure fear!
Michael Reegan looked at Hilbert briefly.
As time passed, sweat began to form on Hilbert’s back.
’...’
Hilbert kept his head lowered, like a loyal subject.
After a while, Michael broke the silence with a joyful grin.
"Hilbert, my friend. I’m doing quite well. What brought you here?"
Hearing this, Hilbert let out a sigh of relief.
"Reegan, the Hero Association needs your help..."
Michael’s smile suddenly faded, and this didn’t escape Hilbert’s notice, his heart skipping a beat.
He quickly added, "A Tier III Beast-class monster has appeared in Hatu state! None of the heroes could handle it. Please save the nation, Mr. Beyond! We need..."
As he continued even further, he felt the pressure on him grow stronger and stronger!
Hilbert could practically see his death.
"... your help."
He clenched his teeth, forcing the words out of his throat.
There was no choice!
He had to do this to save the nation!
Hearing his words, Michael Reegan suddenly grinned.
"Why didn’t you say so sooner?! But you also know that it’s not easy for me to just make a move, right?"
Inwardly sighing in relief, Hilbert could only be thankful that his life was spared. He quickly nodded.
"Yes! Yes! We’ll get you whatever you want!"
Michael Reegan licked his lips.
"Alright. Get out of my sight before I kill you."
"Y-yes, right away!"
Hilbert instinctively squealed and ran away.
As soon as he left, Michael swept his gaze over the entire room.
He removed his loose bathrobe and walked into his cabinet, taking a few clothes.
Soon, a long, loose, open robe draped over him, revealing his muscular and toned abs.
For his bottom, he simply wore a pair of shorts and walked out with ordinary flip flops.
It was as if he weren’t going to save the nation, but heading to the beach instead.
Michael walked out of the building, looking at the endless blue skies.
"How bright, completely unlike before."
After coming back to the past, Michael or Beyond immediately did two things.
He went to threaten the current President of Liberty ahead of time to gain the funds and influence necessary, then he advanced the establishment of the Hero Association, becoming its owner.
Unlike other nations, Liberty referred to its Awakeners as Heroes.
A major reason was cultural identity: the nation had always revered and celebrated Heroes. And as a capitalistic society, wasn’t it just right to exploit such feelings and dreams for profit?
After establishing the Hero Association, Michael Reegan immediately proclaimed himself as the strongest Hero, presenting a positive and benevolent image to the public.
If the other members of his team knew of this, they would scoff at him.
He was anything but kind and benevolent.
But he wasn’t entirely evil either.
In reality, he was a person who couldn’t be described as strictly good or evil.
A person who does whatever he wanted!
Michael’s gaze was fixed on the direction of the Hatu state. He planted his left leg behind, assuming a running stance...
Whoosh!
In an instant, he vanished from sight.
Astonishingly, anyone in his path was blown aside rather than crushed.
For that to happen means he had pushed them away consciously.
After half an hour of running, he had covered 3,419 kilometers and arrived at Hatu State.
He saw a large, massive thunderbird hanging in the sky, destroying buildings left and right.
Michael recognized it as a Golden Thunder Bird, a Tier III Beast!
The Golden Thunder Bird hung its claws on a fallen building, feasting on dead humans.
Debris and twisted metal littered the ground, but the moment Michael arrived, the Golden Thunder Bird shuddered and then shot into the air, escaping immediately.
Woosh!
"I guess even a dumb bird knows when it’s about to die."
Michael chuckled, cracking his neck.
He planted both feet firmly on the ground, causing a deep footprint to emerge.
Red spiritual energy coursed through his body, causing red scales to appear all over him.
Woosh!
With a powerful push, he instantly launched into the air, soaring straight towards the Golden Thunder Bird.
Shocked, the Golden Thunder Bird could barely react as Michael arrived in front of it.
Michael raised his hand, his lips curling slightly.
With one flick of his finger, the thunderbird’s head exploded!
BAM!
The Golden Thunder Bird lifelessly fell to the ground!
A Tier III Beast died from a casual attack!
"Still too weak."
Michael shook his head. Suddenly, he looked to the east, smiling widely.
"Maybe I should go to Afrasia to kill that thing..."
