God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.-Chapter 813: Devil Tree (2).
"It is said, according to legend, that before there was life, there existed only matter and concepts."
"When the Nomad created mana and the first runes, these concepts gained sentience. They gained life..."
"Although they did not breathe and they could not die, they were, for the most part, the first living beings the Nomad would create."
"Light and Dark, Death and Life, Eternity and its offspring, Fire and Water, Wind and Earth..."
"Matter and Concepts."
"From therein, the first creatures were born, some of which their unholy, madness-inducing names cannot even be mentioned."
"The realms were distinguished, and the worlds that would populate the domains of the creator were woven into existence."
"In this empty reality, at the dawn of life, seven beings were born;
Inixi, the Devil of Disaster, Lurpith, the Devil of the Void, Og-Solath, the Devil of Madness, Gorgoth, the Devil of Violence, Mormon, the Devil of Gluttony, Bemethshal, the Devil of Chaos, and Lyx, the Devil of Death."
"Each Devil was created, its soul forged from a primordial concept, and its spirit a vestige of the Creator himself."
"These beings are the primogenitors of the Devil Tree, and the nexus of the Devil Tree that will be discussed further within this codex."
The contents of the codex took on a narrative form, like a man, or in this case, whatever creature the author of the codex was, narrating the details of the information he had gathered over the years.
Cain was rather enamored with this form of writing, as it was easy for one to get lost within the pages if care was not taken...
"Inixi, the Devil of Disaster, born from the concept of Calamity, is the first born of the Devils and the core of the Devil Tree. Devils born along the branch of Inixi are recognized under the blanket term of Mother Devils. The Devil of Disaster is the first of the Primordial Devils and was granted the name; 'Profane Womb of Disaster', because from her bosom, chaos and calamity is born."
"Devils with the ability to create spawn quickly over short periods of time possess the bloodline of Inixi."
"Lurpith, the Devil of the Void, born from the concept of Emptiness and Null, is he that was born second amongst the Primordial profane ones."
"Darkness is his dwelling, and nothing is his weapon. Yet it is a being that sees and knows all, for everything is within him."
"Devils with the bloodline of Lurpith have the ability to bend the forces of space and the void to their will. Because of how special they are, they are not birthed easily by the Mother Devils, making them unique even within the Devil race."
"Og-solath, the Devil of Madness, one enamored with the beauty of the arcane arts, seeking its wisdom, only to be cursed with the madness therein."
"A being wove from threads of curses and madness itself, the depths of its unholy eyes filled with the very first scenes of insanity to ever exist within this reality."
"Woe to he who bears the ill fortune of ever witnessing this creature. Only those blessed and favored by Celestial Divinity may look upon this creature without the risk of immediately descending into rabid madness that consumed body, soul and mind."
"Devils with the blood of Og-solath have an undying desire for knowledge and are gifted in the arcane and profane arts like necromancy and dark magics. They possess rich spirits and souls that have been darkened with their Devilish nature."
"They spread only madness and corruption."
Cain felt a shiver run down his spine.
Mostly because he had met with this primordial Devil in the past.
Hell, of the seven mentioned, he had met three.
That was too high a number of primordial Devils to meet for any mortal!
He also had a piece of one of them within his body.
'Am I lucky or unfortunate?'
That was a question only time could answer.
"Gorgoth, the Devil of Violence, a creature born of slaughter, to slaughter, and for slaughter."
"A creature of war and pestilence."
"A damned fiend."
"Mayhem is his breath, and seas of sticky blood does he leave trailing behind him, blades and fangs wetted in the bright crimson."
"With slaughter as his flesh, the blood of Devil of Violence possessed his nature. Most of the Devils that are borne by the Mother Devils possess the bloodline of this unholy fiend that brought death to many worlds with his claws."
"Mormon, the Devil of Gluttony, a being wovened from the soul of greed itself."
"A creature that devoured all and left nothing behind. A mad creature."
"A beast that knew naught but to eat and devour mindlessly, leaving sullied black wastelands behind."
"It is the opposite of life, for wherever it went, there was none."
"For those who encounter Devils with the bloodline of Mormon, pray your blade is sharp enough to pierce its belly and tear it asunder."
"If it is not, you best pray. Pray your death is swift and merciful..."
"Bemethshal, the Devil of Chaos, a terrible soul created from the profane corruption of the very elements crafted by the Nomad."
"Water, wind, fire and earth make up the body of the Primordial Devil of Chaos. Light and Dark are the threads that makes its spirit. Time and Space are the nexus of its soul."
"Devils with the blood of chaos flowing in their veins are able to tap into the primordial veins, allowing them to wield the elements and move it to their bidding."
"Lyx, the Devil of Death. The final profane creature molded into being by the Nomad. A creature created to bring everything to end."
"Where there is life, she is. And where is none, she is also."
"The souls of her Kin are guided back into their reality through her wicked claws, and our nightmare shall never come to an end so long as she draws breath."
"The very essence of evil."
"The origin of our woes."
"I believe that if damnation has a name, it would be hers. The mistress of Death itself..."
"These are the roots of the Devil Tree. A single Devil might possess at least one of these bloodlines, with some having been shown to possess as many as three. The potential of a Devil is not limited by the number of bloodlines it possesses. Rather, all Devils are said to have unlimited potential. As long as they are given enough time, a single one will grow powerful enough to consume your world whole."
"To whatever creature is fortunate enough to read the words of this codex, rejoice..."
"These words are the compilation of the deaths of countless other worlds in the hopes that yours may not be turned to ash and wither, sucked dry of all it is by their Devilish fangs."
"If what is recorded ends up not being enough, you are under obligation to record whatever knowledge you have gleamed from the Devil race and record it down in hopes that maybe it might be of help to the next world."
"The Devils are a plague, the last curse of the Nomad to the mortal realm."
"Since there is no salvation for us, we can only use our hands to carve one out. From our flesh, or the flesh of the tyrants from the void."
"Godspeed..."

Cain gently closed the book.
Only the light sound of their breaths bounced off the walls of the room.
Cain looked out of the only window in the room.
Outside was dark, with grey clouds looming overhead as always.
A gently cool wind blew through the window, causing strands of his hair to fly.
He turned his gaze to Steve who seemed immersed in the manuscripts he had given him earlier.
Cain smiled.
Then a frown appeared on his face. He couldn't help but fall into his own thoughts as well.
"The codex is rather large, there is a special magic spell woven into it that makes its pages near infinite. So long as the desire remains, words can be written into the book. How interesting..."
His brows furrowed,
"But not as interesting as its contents. The reason the types of Devils that can possibly exist is near infinite, is because of the original bloodlines."

He had gained a rather important piece of information from what he had read so far.
"The different Primordial Devils, share two similarity; the ability to create and make use of Devil Essence, and their curses..."
He tilted his head back, staring at the crack covered ceiling,
"Each curse is unique and is an important facet of the Devil race, it would seem. So far, we have only encountered Devils that possess a single bloodline. It's scary to imagine what the others will be like."
Cain sighed heavily.
The chances they would encounter more terrifying atrocities in the battle to come was rather high.
The enemies they would have to face were going to me far more frightening than ever before, he could tell that much.
He couldn't help but feel fear.
A reasonable fear too.
When he had made his way though the City the first time, he had been killed, his heart punctured and torn through by a rather powerful Devil.
Thanks to the power of Lyx flowing through his veins, he has survived.
But he had died still.
He clenched his fists.
The depths of his eyes burned like the core of a dying star,
"It won't happen again."
He has become much stronger than before.
His potential couldn't even be compared.
His rate of growth far surpassed that of a normal human.
The fear in his heart melted away like snow before the wrath of the undying sun.
"Let them come. Devil or beast, I'll freaking tear you all apart!"
