Chapter 460 CH 446: TIME

When Adam opened his eyes again and took a look outside the window, he came to realize that a few hours had gone by and it was now closer to noon.

He had not managed to truly have a deep sleep or even sleep in general, however, he was still able to more or less have complete relaxation for a moment as he let go of everything and allowed his mind to rest.

'I should try relaxing more like this on a regular basis. It is good for my mind.'

He could only do something like this while spending time with his mom. After all, only when he was with his mother could he truly let go of everything and not worry about being attacked or having to stress about every little thing.

Stretching out his fit body, Adam yawned a little and realized that using this weak body with all the locks placed on his powers could also tire him out much faster.

'Say. Do you think I should buy some new skills and continue accumulating powers?'

Genesis pondered and made some calculations before presenting the results to him,

[At the present moment, there are no particular skills necessary that can increase your powers at a fast rate. But there are many interesting skills that will be accessible to you once you open the Heart Chakra.]

Currently, he needed exactly one hundred thousand Karma Points to open the Heart Chakra. He was rather close now thanks to creating those shadows and helping them gain sentience, but it could also be said that he was relatively far away from the full 100K amount. There was a long road ahead of him.

If he succeeded in any of the Grey/White/Black missions related to Natasha, the reward would be quite substantial and he would be able to complete accumulating two-thirds of the required Karma.

'If I remember well the next threshold after the Heart Chakra will be one million Karma Points, right?'

[Indeed. Each time you unlock a chakra pathway through the usage of Karma Points, the price of the subsequent one will increase by a factor of ten. Hundred thousand. One million. Ten million. Hundred million. If you hadn't unlocked the Crown Chakra by yourself back then, the last Chakra pathway would have cost you 1 billion Karma Points.]

Adam coughed out loud, wondering just what the hell those staggering numbers even were.

Thinking things through, he now had to face the shadow of some mystical beasts simply to get a few ten thousand points. Just what in hell would he have to do to reach the million point threshold?

'Hmm. Things can't go on like this…'

[The process is not supposed to be fast after all. Hundred million or one billion. If you obtain around a thousand Karma every day, it will take you nearly 274 years to get a hundred million points. All in all, you will be able to open all your Chakra and be close to ascension in only 303 years. Give or take a few years along the way.]

Genesis had rarely talked so much as he did now and he was not done yet.

[Rather than taking relatively high-risk missions, laying low and getting points regularly should be your goal in my opinion. In fact, getting 100 Karma per day should be easier for you. So in nearly three thousand years, you will be able to complete your Chakra opening.]

'Are you even hearing yourself?'

Genesis was merely dismissive of his words,

[You will one day realize that… be it three hundred or even three thousand years, they are all nothing but an instant in the long stream of the river of time. I remember once Eve spent 200 hundred years just thinking about how she should decorate one section of the Library. One of her naps may take a thousand years at the minimum. This is what it means to be immortal and unending. This is what it means to be timeless, Adam.]

Adam stopped speaking as he intently listened to Genesis's words. But Genesis wasn't done even now,

[You may believe that I am emotionless for saying so and indeed, I do not understand your emotions. You are an immortal being who still wields the perception of time of a mere mortal. In my opinion, more than anything else— this is by far your greatest curse.]

Adam could only show a bitter smile in response.

His time was slowly changing but indeed, he could not even imagine how many changes could happen in simply one year.

Wasn't his current situation the best example?

It had only been one month or more precisely 5 weeks since he had awakened and what he did in those five weeks was perhaps more than some people did in even hundreds of years.

'Forget it. I guess I will have to leave this to the future me.'

Chuckling to himself, Adam stood up. There was no need to chase after ghosts and worry about a bleak future that had yet to come.

His eyes became cold. If it was necessary, he would make sure all his loved ones became shadows under him when they reached the end of their natural lifespan.

Thinking about this, he snapped his fingers, and immediately three shadows appeared around him.

[Father…]

Two of the shadows with clear human features kneeled and greeted him with absolute devotion. Meanwhile, the third seemed a bit different from the two.

It was blurrier than the two others, but there was a slight light of intelligence in those eyes. This phantom was more defined than the other two when he had first killed them.

'Boris, huh. I guess the power level or at least the power of the soul of the one killed affects the initial quality.'

There were many things he needed to glean from Boris' memories later on… He had heard quite the interesting discussion after all.

'Dark elf, huh.'

Thinking about it he smiled and started to walk out of his room.

This wasn't his problem for now. Whatever those dark elves were doing, it was better for them to not bother him.

He had other more urgent problems to deal with right now.
