GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?-Chapter 2069: Nothing Is Certain.
He fought ANNIHILATION many times and failed each time. Then he ran away into the past to become an Absolute. Yet, there is another Absolute hanging over his head here.
He is not willing to give up and accept his fate, though. That has never been his style.
And if there is one thing he has learned, it is that nothing is settled until you die. Anything is possible as long as there is still life.
He has learned that there is no real past and future. To great beings, the past and the future can be changed at will. The only thing that exists is their present and the power to use it to change the past and future.
With enough power, even death at the hands of an Absolute that wipes out someone from history and all of time and space can be reversed by another Absolute.
That is the case of the Lord of Madness. Even though he is dead, he can still come to life if another Absolute intervenes in the events that caused his death.
He still has his present, and he is on a quest to actually have the power to change the past and future at will with that present. So he can't accept his fate just yet.
He made that determination just as he made the decision to use Tesla as his pawn.
He put away the other letters and said, "At least, I know to resist. Tesla doesn't even know that he is a pawn, so I am still better than him."
He began to write a letter to Tesla. It is a letter detailing his offer of partnership to Tesla.
Tesla had offered to give him 20% of his company. He doesn't have to do anything. All he needs to do is send the full details of his patent to Tesla.
All Tesla wants from him is knowledge. As long as he gives Tesla the schematics and unlimited access to them as long as they are partners, Tesla will give him 20% of his company.
He doesn't need anything else because Tesla is confident of understanding the principles of the technology as long as he can build them. It is not baseless confidence.
That 20% is a lot of money because Tesla's company is a large one that deals in making light bulbs and heating filaments for stoves that are alternatives to the light and fire stones. He can earn all of this money without lifting a finger.
Tesla doesn't just want permission to use his patent; he also wants the sole right to use the patent.
Tesla wants a monopoly on the technology. In exchange, he will get twice what he should get if he allows everyone else to use the patent.
So his offer is still a good deal. However, Legion wasn't content with it.
He wasn't content with just having 20%. He asked Tesla for 50% of his company. He also asked Tesla for 100 gold coins. That's equal to 10,000 silver coins.
His demands are outright excessive. But he is confident that Tesla will accept them because he knows that Tesla needs him very much.

He thought to himself as he wrote, "He is going to become a god with this. It is not asking for much for him to give me 50% of his beloved company."
As he wrote, he outlined more specific conditions for cooperation. For example, he promised to provide access to his future technology to the company.
He didn't do this because he was being kind to Tesla. He did it because he wants Tesla's company to become big and powerful since half of it will be his.
Besides, he still needs a partner to do the hard work, like he reaps a part of the rewards. If Tesla is willing to give him half of the rewards, then he doesn't mind forging a better partnership with him.
For the second condition, he outlined that Tesla had to swear that he would do his best for his company and couldn't abandon it to do something else. This was to make sure that Tesla wouldn't sabotage him by sabotaging his company.
He wrote down other conditions, which were to encourage Tesla, and some were to protect his own interests such as asking Tesla to promise with the god of steam as witnesses that he would never try to harm Legion.
The letter he wrote occupied six pages. After doing this, he had to go and borrow money. He had to borrow money because he didn't have the money to send the letter.
He can either use the telegraph or send the letter directly from the god of steam's altar here in Ivory Town to the altar in whatever city Tesla lives in.
If Tesla has an altar of the god of steam in his room, then the letter will go straight to him. As long as he uses an altar to send the letter, the transmission will be instantaneous.
He wants the instantaneous transmission of his letter because he doesn't want some low-level worker in the telegraph office to know what he is sending and because he wants the partnership to start as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, using the altar to send money is expensive. He hasn't used the altar in this life, but in his many lives in the future, he used altars, and they usually cost at least 10 silver coins.
He doesn't have 10 silver coins. The largest amount of money he has acquired since he came to this world has been four silver coins. That was a week ago.
Since a week ago, he spent one silver to allow for the advertisement and one silver more to survive. So he only has two silver coins in hand. There is no way he will be able to afford the cost of using the altar to send his letter.
Normally, no one will borrow a poor person like him. But he is a probationary officer of the lamp bearers. That means not only are there people that will borrow him money, but there are also many who want to give him money.
