Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 63: Power Comparable to a Tier Two Spell
In the afternoon, Li Wei stood on the city wall, watching groups of Professionals leave Cold Sand City.
Beastmen frequently harassed Cold Sand City, so Orn sent Professionals out to clear the wandering Beastmen from the surrounding area.
Professionals were more effective in these kinds of small-scale battles than they were in a full-blown war.
Li Wei remained safely within the city, focusing on his Cultivation to increase his strength.
He toyed with a Fireball.
The Fireball in his palm shifted and changed, gradually taking the shape of a small Firebird.
’Is this the effect of Basic Level Mana Control?’
At his command, Mana poured ceaselessly into the small Firebird.
The small Firebird rapidly swelled in size.
Previously, the longer he charged a Fireball, the faster his Control Power over it would diminish.
This time, however, he felt no such decrease in his control.
"Li Wei, what are you doing?"
POOF!
The Firebird dissipated, vanishing into the air as specks of fiery sparks.
Fesia stared at Li Wei and blinked, feeling as though she must have been seeing things.
She could have sworn she just saw a Firebird in Li Wei’s hand.
"What was that just now?" Fesia asked.
Li Wei shook his hand and said, "It was nothing."
"I thought I saw a Firebird," Fesia said.
"You must be mistaken," Li Wei said with a straight face. "What Firebird Magic Beast would be here?"
"Okay, I guess I was mistaken," Fesia said, though she wasn’t entirely sure.
Fesia looked at Li Wei and said, "Li Wei, let’s team up to do missions and earn Merit."
Li Wei shook his head, rejecting her offer. "It’s too dangerous. I’m not leaving Cold Sand City."
Fesia tried to persuade him. "Don’t you want an Awakening Magic Potion? The cheapest one is only eighteen hundred Merit! Once you have it, you can become an Official Mage!"
Li Wei said, "I don’t."
When Fesia saw that Li Wei was completely unpersuadable, her spirits fell.
"Fine."
Fesia returned to Jonah and Delis’s side. Delis glanced at Li Wei, then looked at Fesia.
"Fesia, why do you insist on inviting him? He’s such a coward; he’ll only drag us down if he joins our team," Delis said.
Jonah nodded and said, "Yeah, Delis is right."
Fesia glanced at the two of them but said nothing.
’Why did I ask Li Wei to join? Of course it’s because I see his potential.’
That evening, as Li Wei came down from the city wall, Rota approached him. "Do you have a regular team you work with?" he asked.
Li Wei said, "No, why?"
"Want to team up with me?" Rota offered. "I know a veteran Professional team, and all the members are at the Tier One High Level."
Li Wei said, "Thanks for the invitation, but I have my own plans."
"Alright."
Seeing his response, Rota didn’t press the issue.
Passing the barracks, Li Wei saw injured Professionals bringing back their trophies, their faces breaking into happy smiles upon receiving their Merit.
Others returned injured, their faces etched with grief.
Some returned happy, others in sorrow.
"Teacher Gu Ze, when did you get back?" Li Wei ran into Gu Ze on the way.
Gu Ze turned to look at him and said with a smile, "Just now."
Li Wei saw a bloodstain on the corner of his robe and asked with some concern, "Teacher, are you hurt?"
Gu Ze glanced at the blood on his clothes and said, "I’m fine. I got this on me while helping a teammate with their wounds."
"It was really dangerous today. We ran into a group of Beastman Race Professionals in the wild..."
The two talked as they walked, with Gu Ze telling Li Wei about what happened today and sharing his combat experience.
"In the future, don’t be a fool and wear your Mage Robe when you go out. On my way back, I saw a team whose Mage had his throat slit by an Assassin. The others weren’t even scratched."
"Right now, the Beastman Race Assassins outside the city are specifically targeting Mages for assassination. You’d better be careful if you leave the city, and don’t let your guard down inside it either," Gu Ze warned.
Li Wei said, "Yes, I understand."
Back in his room, Li Wei didn’t even wait for deep night before slipping into the dreamscape.
Only in the dreamscape could he use Magic without restraint.
’Let me see the power of the Master Level Fireball Technique!’
Li Wei began Casting. It only took him 2.5 seconds to complete the spell, and an orange-red Fireball materialized before him.
He could sense that the power contained within the Fireball was far greater than that of the Entry Level Fireball Technique.
This was influenced by the bonus his Fire Elemental Body provided to his Fire Element Magic.
Even Li Wei couldn’t accurately judge how much the Master Level Fireball Technique’s power had been amplified.
’The Nightmare Snow Bear is no good anymore. Who should I pick as an opponent?’
He could simulate any enemy he had fought in the dreamscape.
The extent to which the enemy could be simulated depended on how well Li Wei understood them.
The enemies he simulated wouldn’t display any abilities he wasn’t aware of.
After a moment of thought, Li Wei chose a suitable target.
The figure of Mage George appeared.
Under Li Wei’s control, George cast a Magic Shield and then stood motionless, acting as a target.
WHOOSH!
He launched the enhanced, Master Level Fireball.
KABOOM!
The Fireball hit George, and the explosion instantly tore apart his Tier One Magic Shield.
A blue light appeared, blocking the aftershock of the Fireball Skill.
Last time, Li Wei had to use all his strength just to barely break the Magic Shield.
Li Wei was very satisfied with the power displayed by his Fireball Skill.
This level of power was already enough to threaten a Tier Two Extraordinary Being.
With a wave of his hand, George vanished, and the room returned to its original state.
He cast the Fireball Skill once more.
’This isn’t the limit yet. With the Mana Control Extraordinary Trait, I feel like I can use the Charging Technique even if I’ve only mastered the Master Level Fireball Technique.’
Li Wei continuously poured Mana into the Fireball.
The Fireball’s volume expanded wildly. In the blink of an eye, its diameter had swelled to nearly a meter.
Li Wei poured a third of his total Mana into the Fireball.
Feeling the violent Elemental Fluctuations from within the one-meter-diameter Fireball, he couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat.
’It’s reached its limit. Any more and it’ll explode.’
’If this explodes, it’ll basically be self-detonation. There’s no way I’d survive!’
With a thought, Li Wei made the room rapidly expand.
He shot the Fireball in his hand into the distance.
After flying fifty meters, the Fireball spun out of control, and the violent Elemental Fluctuations inside it peaked instantly.
BANG!
The blinding flare of light made Li Wei instinctively squeeze his eyes shut.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
A heatwave from fifty meters away roared past him, plastering his Invisibility Cloak tightly against his body and making it shake and rustle.
Only when the fiery light dissipated, the brightness returned to normal, and the heatwave weakened did Li Wei open his eyes to look.
More than forty meters away, a large crater, over a meter deep and five meters in diameter, appeared before his eyes.
He sucked in a sharp breath. ’Terrifying power!’
’This power is on par with Mage Aier’s Fire Snake Skill!’
Back then, Aier had stood on the city wall and, with a single Fire Snake Skill, instantly killed a Tier Two Middle Level Snowman Knight, leaving a crater more than five meters in diameter in the snow.
A look of joy appeared on Li Wei’s face. Given enough time to charge, he could even annihilate a Tier Two enemy.
’The power is immense, but the charging time is a full three minutes. Plus, the Magic Fluctuations it creates while charging are intense and impossible to conceal.’
The power was immense, but the conditions required to use it in actual combat were very demanding.
No enemy would see Li Wei charging up a spell and just stand there like an idiot, waiting for him to blow them up.
