Guide to Failing as a Full-Level Green Tea-Chapter 9 - Where Did This Young Lord Come From?
Shen Siqi smiled helplessly and said, “You really don’t pay attention to anything outside your window. I used to drag you out to attend tea parties and banquets, but you refused every single one of them. Now, you know nothing and feel foolish, don’t you?”
Although Shen Siqi looked disappointed, she patiently explained to Shen Roujia, “The Grand Princess is the Emperor’s elder sister from the same mother. She’s getting on in years and loves to host lively events every day.”
Shen Roujia nodded understandingly and soon praised obediently, “I have you as my second sister, so why should I bother with those irrelevant things?”
Shen Siqi seemed to enjoy this compliment and smiled, pursing her lips. “Alright, alright. I never realized your words could be so sweet before.”
Shen Siqi was straightforward and outspoken, saying whatever was on her mind. The three siblings of the Shen family had depended on each other for so many years that even if Shen Roujia had any faults initially, her relatives tried their best to tolerate them. Even harsh words were spoken with an understanding of their deep bond.
This place was unlike the coldness of the Eastern Palace; it was warm and welcoming everywhere. Shen Roujia liked this place, especially this little courtyard and the swing.
When Shen Siqi took Shen Roujia out, it was just after the lanterns were lit.
The streets of the capital were bustling. The two of them dressed in plain clothes, looking like ordinary people.
Shen Roujia initially wanted to go out and enjoy herself. Now that she was out, she was drawn in by the lively atmosphere and didn’t want to return to the enclosed walls.
The capital had a liberal atmosphere, with lantern fairs and poetry gatherings happening frequently. Meetings between scholars and beauties were not frowned upon but rather seen as romantic tales.
Shen Roujia’s attention was unconsciously drawn to a juggling act. Just as she was about to cheer, Shen Siqi pulled her away.
Shen Roujia couldn’t help but ask, “Second Sister, why are you in such a hurry?”
Shen Siqi glanced at a nearby platform and whispered, “Traders are selling slaves. They only dare to come out at night. We better not go over and look.”
Shen Roujia then noticed the sorrowful scene on the other side. At the edge of the lively crowd, there was a platform filled with cages holding many people, both men and women, too dirty to see their features.
Even on the high platform, there were more than a dozen people being picked out by buyers.
Just as a wealthy-looking man bought a batch, the trader grinned widely and turned to open another cage.
In the blink of an eye, a low growl came from one of the dark cages. With a loud bang, the cage door was kicked open, and debris flew everywhere.
Screams erupted, “Someone! Catch that wild brat! Quickly!”
Seeing this, Shen Siqi immediately pulled Shen Roujia away, but in the chaos, the two were separated by the crowd.
Shen Roujia called out a couple of times, but her voice was drowned out by the crowd.
Suddenly, she felt a cold sensation on her slender neck. Shen Roujia cursed herself for being so careless as someone easily restrained her, their rough fingers gripping her neck tightly.
The blue veins were visible, and Shen Roujia bit her lip, hearing Shen Siqi’s distant scream, “Jiao Jiao!”
The person holding her reeked of blood, their breath chaotic and voice hoarse with a strange accent. “Buy me, and I’ll spare your life.”
Shen Roujia couldn’t help but sneer, “Choosing me as your bargaining chip, you have quite the eye.”
The person seemed taken aback, loosening his grip slightly. Shen Roujia remained calm and said quietly, “What benefit do I get from buying you?”
The person frowned, his foreign eyes bright, “I can kill someone for you.”
Shen Roujia laughed, “That’s your value?”
This slave gave Shen Roujia a different feeling, and she had some unusual thoughts.
The traders and their men had surrounded them. Shen Siqi had sent someone back to call for help, handling the situation calmly despite the chaos.

One trader arrogantly said, “You’d better let the young lady go, or you won’t have a chance.”
The slave roughly pushed Shen Roujia away, causing her neck to hurt as she stumbled forward.
Shen Roujia hissed in pain, and the slave scoffed, “I could easily strangle you with one hand, so how could you bargain with me?”
Shen Roujia coughed, struggling to free herself from the slave’s grip.
The slave glared menacingly at the traders.
Then his gaze fell on a jade fish pendant around Shen Roujia’s neck, and he suddenly froze.
“Who are you?”
Before Shen Roujia could respond, a sudden gust of wind struck, and the slave groaned, falling to the ground. Shen Roujia stumbled forward but was steadied by a slender hand with slight calluses that gently held her waist.
A clean, clear voice came from beside her, “I’ll take this slave.”
The speaker threw a bag of silver to the traders and turned to Shen Roujia, “Miss, are you alright?”
Shen Roujia looked up at the person, unable to see clearly in the moonlight but making out a handsome young lord.
When he escorted Shen Roujia back to Shen Siqi, she could finally see clearly that he was a delicate young lord with eyebrows like jade feathers.
Shen Roujia looked at her palm, recalling the soft touch she had accidentally felt, and shyly looked away.
“Thank you for saving me.”
Shen Siqi anxiously checked Shen Roujia from head to toe before feeling relieved, “Thank goodness, it was just a scare.”
Shen Siqi then gracefully bowed to the young lord, “Thank you for saving my sister. May I know your name so we can properly thank you later?”
He smiled slightly, “It was nothing, just a small effort.”
With that, he took the slave’s contract and bowed to Shen Roujia and her companions before disappearing into the crowd with the slave.
Concerned about her sister’s reputation, Shen Siqi craned her neck but dared not call out. She muttered in confusion, “That young lord is quite peculiar.”
Shen Roujia watched his retreating figure and chuckled, “You’re mistaken, Sister.”
Shen Siqi was puzzled, “What are you talking about, Jiao Jiao? Are you still in shock?”
Shen Roujia smiled with interest, her gaze lingering, “My benefactor is likely a fine lady in disguise.”
Shen Siqi’s eyes widened in shock, “What?”
