Chapter 42: New member of the harem

After thinking through everything I had and my options, I faced the cold woman before me. I knew I needed to offer something of equal or greater value than what she was about to lose. I obviously didn’t have the money, so I needed, in some way, to convince her to invest in me, taking the risk in hopes of future gains.

I took a deep breath and stared at her firmly; I couldn’t hesitate at that moment. Then, I began speaking:

"Seraphina, could you hear me out? It might sound a bit crazy, but I can bring down the current power structure in this city."

"You?" She looked at me with disdain, perhaps thinking I had gone mad. "Can I know how you plan to do that? No offense, but you don’t seem in a position to bring anyone down." freēwēbnovel.com

"Of course, I can’t do anything right now. I have no power, and I need to ask for help to be protected and continue with my life. But in the future, I’ll change that."

That wasn’t my plan. If I could, I would live my life peacefully, but that wasn’t an option. At my words, a mocking, disbelieving laugh appeared on the woman’s face. And her eyes, always so cold, made me hesitate for a moment. Still, I continued.

"However, I have talent," I needed to be confident and even a little exaggerated if I wanted to sell myself, "Vanessa can vouch for that. Not only that, but I also have magical powers, and I believe no one else, except for me, could change the current status quo in this place."

And so, I played my best and only card. There were hundreds of risks involved, but there was nothing that stopped me from revealing the existence of the app. All I had left was to fight with the weapons I had, in the best way I could.

Seraphina stared at me with utter disbelief. Her eyes widened, and her mouth formed a perfect "o". Vanessa, on the other hand, looked at me with concern. Maybe she thought I had gone mad because of the situation, or something like that. But I would follow the only path left to me.

"Magical powers?" she asked, with a mix of mockery and disdain in her voice. "Are you serious?"

"Yes," I replied, with as much conviction as I could muster.

Seraphina let out a loud laugh. "This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard!" she said, wiping the tears that were streaming down her face. "You’re making this up to try to escape your debt? Couldn’t come up with a more believable lie, idiot."

"I’m not lying, and I can prove it." I couldn’t back down at this point.

"Prove it, then," she challenged, crossing her arms over her chest.

And now came the tricky part. How to prove it? Showing the app and what I could do with it definitely wasn’t the way to go. So I had to think of another way to demonstrate my powers, and luckily, I had what I needed to do that: a helper package.

"Okay, if I make a girl appear here suddenly, will you believe me?"

The two of them looked at me with a lot of doubt, but in the end, Seraphina told me to go ahead, saying that if I did that, she’d be forced to consider what I had to say.

Then I activated the basic package I had received as a reward for completing the quest. Then, after pressing the button to use the item, a bright light came out of my phone, and I was tense about what would happen.

In fact, I hadn’t used that thing before, so I didn’t know what would happen or if the girl would actually appear in front of me.

Luckily, my bet was a success, just as a small girl with long silver hair appeared before me. The petite girl was flying in the air with small succubus wings and was wearing an extremely sexy outfit that didn’t suit her petite body well.

Seraphina was left speechless. Her mocking expression turned into one of sheer astonishment.

"This... this is impossible!" she murmured. "How did you do that?"

"As I said, I have powers," I pretended to be timid for a moment before explaining, embarrassed, "more specifically, I made a blood pact with this girl."

I wasn’t entirely sure what to say, so I began making things up on the spot. Fortunately, the little succubus, whose name I would later learn was Lilith, quickly picked up on the situation and backed up my lie by saying:

"Yes, humans," she said with an arrogant smile, puffing out her nonexistent chest. "I chose to serve this human after he introduced me to pleasures I didn’t even know could exist in this world."

She unnecessarily made the situation more sensual as she spoke with such passion that it almost sounded like she was moaning. Then, she lightly grabbed onto me for a few moments before continuing:

"I haven’t fully recovered my powers yet, but I promise I will use them to destroy all of my master’s enemies in the future."

She continued weaving a lie about how she was forced into the human realm after having a conflict with the Dream King. She claimed that she would recover her powers soon.

After that, the two girls looked at me suspiciously, but this time for a different reason. Vanessa even seemed to be blushing.

"And now, do you believe me?" I asked.

"Alright," she sighed. "I believe you, but how does this change things?"

"Simple, the chance that I can actually follow through on what I said increases, don’t you think? That’s why I ask you, even if it sounds crazy, to bet on me," I stepped closer to the woman, staring directly into her eyes. "If you do that, I promise results. I promise that I will destroy the three families that rule over this damn city."

Before she could respond, Vanessa interrupted us with genuine concern:

"Before anything else, how old is this girl, young man?" She pointed at Lilith.

"I’m 26," she answered with a smile. Surprisingly, the girl was older than I had expected, which was somewhat of a relief.

After the brief interruption, Seraphina finally agreed to help me, saying that she would take the risk and bet on me, even though she didn’t seem completely convinced.

For now, I managed to free myself from the problem...

Third person narration

Unaware of everything happening with the one she considered to be her most loyal follower, Amber continued with bold strides, following the tips he had given her. Thus, without either of them knowing it, their destinies intertwined.

The beautiful blonde seated herself on a chic chair. In front of her sat a small woman, a sweet journalist who seemed a little unsure but was very sharp with her questions.

She had wanted to give an interview for a long time but despised most of the media that already existed in the city. Her reasons for her disdain were old; her relationship with the city’s elite had never been good, and it wasn’t something that would change easily.

However, the recommendation from her loyal follower about this independent and competent journalist convinced her to give her a chance. Thus, Clara surprisingly earned a great opportunity, and naturally, she was very nervous.

The nervousness didn’t last long, and after ten minutes of conversation, the small girl already seemed to adore the blonde in front of her. Still, her professionalism and sharp intuition continued to be impressive. Somehow, her instincts managed to counteract Amber’s powers, at least to a certain extent.

In the end, the conversation was still pleasant. Normally, Amber would have become irritated by being questioned or put in a bad spot, but on that day, she displayed a surprising generosity. Probably, this was due to a certain someone who was beginning to change her mindset and way of thinking.

Unfortunately for the girl, her next few days wouldn’t be so smooth. Seeing the potential of internet communication, she decided to start paving her own path in that sector, but this brought far more work than expected.

Without being able to count on the same team from her first broadcast some time ago, Clara was of great help. Even without being able to meet with her beloved loyal follower, the days weren’t lonely. The blonde was even more cheerful than ever.

And so, after some time, the internet would be surprised by a beautiful woman. Despite wearing conservative clothing, her chest was something that could not be concealed.

In her live streams, she spoke about her religion, which some dared to call a cult. But she also interacted with fans and gave advice about love.

For two huge reasons she didn’t quite understand, her channel grew rapidly.

"Good work again today," her operator, Clara, said with a smile at the end of the live stream. "There’s just one thing: there was a question sent by a fan that I chose not to read to you live. Is that okay?"

"What was the question?"

"Miss Amber, has there ever been a man who won your heart? Perhaps that loyal follower you mentioned yesterday, you seemed very in love while talking about him." Clara read the comment word for word.

"I-i-it has nothing to do with that," her voice grew high-pitched for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. "I trust you, Clara. You can always filter unnecessary comments."

"Leave it to me!" the girl replied, smiling enthusiastically.
