Harem Stealing System-Chapter 29 : Unexpected Gain?
Chapter 29: Chapter 29 : Unexpected Gain?
It’s touching!! It’s touching!! Ohh shit ! What do i do ? It’s soft ...
Clinging to him from behind, her face was buried in his back. Eiden froze, stunned, unsure what to do. His eyes darted around, only to catch Sasha in the distance, watching silently. She turned away without a word and walked off.
Eiden’s gaze then shifted to Deuel, who was rubbing his face before giving Eiden a meaningful look and silently walking away too.
What the hell is he still acting cool for? Eiden thought irritably, still standing there awkwardly with Lyra clinging to him.
He could feel the weight of multiple gazes on him. Whispers. Curiosity.
Helpless, Eiden just stayed still until Lyra slowly loosened her arms.
He turned around to see her tear-reddened eyes, but from the corner of his vision, he spotted someone rushing over Crysty.
She immediately wrapped Lyra in a hug.
"Are you okay?" she asked urgently. Lyra nodded faintly in response. Crysty looked at Eiden and gave him a short, acknowledging nod, then gently pulled Lyra away by the shoulder.
As the bell rang, the watching crowd quickly dispersed. Eiden let out a deep sigh and muttered, "Let’s skip the lecture today."
He sat down, staring blankly at the ceiling for a moment before heading home without taking any detours. When he arrived, he expected to be greeted by his mother, Dally, but the house was quiet.
Must have gone out for groceries, he assumed, not overly concerned. He often came back around this time anyway if he had fewer lectures. He headed straight to his room.
"System-chan," he called, lying back on his bed. "Ding! How strong do I need to be to beat that guy?" The system replied in a casual tone: "I don’t know how strong he is. I only have access to your current information at this level."
"So if I level up, you can see others’ info?" Eiden asked. "Affirmative," System-chan responded simply. Eiden lay there with a swirl of thoughts in his head, and before he realized it, he drifted off to sleep.
"Eiden. Eiden... Eiden." He stirred at the sound of his name and sat up quickly. It was his mother’s voice. He checked the time.
8:45 PM?! Rushing downstairs, he found dinner set neatly on the table. Dally glanced at him and asked, "Did something happen at college?" Eiden shrugged, "Nothing special. Just the usual." After dinner, he headed back to his room. Dally watched him quietly from behind, her eyes narrowing slightly. He looks a little shaken.
Back in his room, Eiden noticed his phone, which he’d left charging, was overflowing with notifications. He didn’t have the mood to check any of them. He also realized he was still wearing his college clothes, so he quickly changed into his sleepwear. It was still too early to sleep, and he’d already napped earlier, so he decided to go on a stroll. After changing into more suitable clothes, he quietly slipped downstairs and left without letting his mom know.
He walked a few minutes until he reached a nearby park and sat down on a seesaw. "System-chan, show me my progress."
Ding! Eiden scanned the screen. Something caught his eye.
"Arin’s progress is at 59%... huh?"
But then
"Wait, Lyra’s is at 96%?!"
"Wow... that jumped a lot. I mean, I expected an increase after what happened earlier, but this much?" He immediately called out again,
"System-chan Ding! will this 96% decrease if I don’t do anything?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"It’s because the 96% is a fluctuation of emotions due to her being emotionally shaken today. Once her emotions stabilize, her progress will drop slightly. Of course, the overall progress won’t return to the original it has increased permanently but the sudden spike will settle." Eiden frowned.
"Damn it, I should’ve done something right after that instead of standing there like an idiot. Now it’s already late, and I don’t think I can make much impact through phone calls or messages."
He sighed and muttered, "When I had the chance, I should’ve taken her somewhere quiet... shown genuine concern... calmed her down with a soft voice. That might’ve really captured her heart."
Spilled milk, he thought. Still... maybe it’s not too late. Maybe something through the phone might work. He took a deep breath and pulled out his phone, hesitating as he hovered over her number.
But just before he could call "Eiden?"
A voice. He instantly recognized it. Turning around, he saw Crysty at the entrance of the park, leaning casually against the wall.
"What are you doing here this late at night?" Eiden asked. "I could ask you the same," Crysty replied with a faint smirk.
Eiden scoffed, "I’m a guy. You’re a girl. You shouldn’t be out alone at night it’s not safe."
Crysty rolled her eyes. "I can handle myself just fine." Eiden raised his hands in surrender. "Whatever you say."
There was a brief silence before Crysty spoke again. "...Thanks." Eiden blinked. "Huh?"
She clarified, "Thanks for standing up for Lyra."
He gave a small smile. "I couldn’t just sit still after seeing her so scared. Even if I knew I wouldn’t win... I had to protect her." Crysty smiled softly. "You’re braver than I expected. I knew you were kind, but brave too?"
Eiden didn’t say anything, just smiled back.
"Is she okay?" he asked "She is," Crysty replied. Eiden let out a breath of relief. "That’s good. I just hope she doesn’t carry it with her and get gloomy. She’s... really beautiful when she smiles." Yuccckk... did I just say that?! F**k! I got into the flow and dropped some cheesy-ass anime line. Damn it
Ding!

Eiden’s jaw dropped. What?! How?? Why?!
But then he noticed something. Below Crysty her shadow. There were two shadows.
Wait... is someone behind that wall? His eyes narrowed. Could it be...
Lyra?!
