Chapter 156: Walked out

Lake calmly stared at Leon, his demeanor not giving away the anger he was feeling toward him.

"Can I speak with you? Privately?" He asked in a gentle voice, staring at Audrey.

Audrey shook her head, "You should leave, Mr. Aloha. I need to attend to my son," She replied, not looking at him.

Lake sighed, clenching his fists to keep himself from reaching for Audrey.

He couldn’t do anything; she no longer wanted him there; with a curt nod, he walked out of her house and toward the car waiting outside for him.

Audrey watched as the gate slowly closed after Lake had driven away. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

She couldn’t lie to herself, she was hurt, very hurt.

She felt betrayed. So Lake had really gotten himself another woman?

It hurt, but it was fine; it was better that way; it meant he was moving on from her... who was she kidding? He’s already moved on, and she wouldn’t be surprised if she found out that Melody had already given Lake a child.

It was possible.

"Audrey, are you okay?" Leon asked quietly, noticing the way Audrey had gone quiet.

Audrey suddenly remembered that someone was behind her and slowly turned to face him.

"I’m sorry for today, Leon, we didn’t get to discuss the gala, how about tomorrow? At my office okay? I kind of have a little headache and need to sleep," She smiled at him.

Leon sighed, "I figured you’d be ill;, it’s alright; get some rest, and we’ll see tomorrow; goodbye," Leon hugged her before he, too, walked out of her home and into his car, driving out of her compound.

Audrey took a deep breath and closed her door.

This was the most dramatic day in her five years in Paris.

"Come here, child," Isabella beckoned Audrey into her arms as she stood at the center of the living room.

Bella saw her mother’s wide inviting hands and immediately ran into it and hugged her tight. She didn’t know when tears started to flow down from her face; there was always something in a mother’s hug; it touched deep into the part of your soul you didn’t even know existed.

"It’s alright, it’s alright, child, let it all out," Isabella cooed softly, gently rubbing Audrey’s back.

"He’s moved on... he’s really moved on..." Audrey sobbed loudly, tightening her hand around her mother’s body.

"It’s alright, my love, I believe everything will work out. Come now; you need to rest; enough with the crying; come on," Isabella, led Audrey up to her room.

"Get some rest, dear child, when you sleep over it, you’ll see that it’s not as hard as you think it is," Isabella tucked Audrey into her bed, smiling and patting her cheeks.

"And don’t worry, I’m not going to tell anyone what I heard when I came to call you at the laundry room," Isabella chuckled mischievously.

Audrey immediately sprang up from the bed, reaching out to grab her mother’s arm, but Isabella was quick to dodge, already leaving the room before Audrey could get up from the bed.

"Get some rest, dear," She laughed softly and closed Audrey’s door.

Audrey stared at the door in disbelief for a while, then she suddenly turned and screamed into her pillow.

"Why! Why did she have to hear that?" She asked in anguish as she turned herself to lie on her back, staring at the ceiling.

Why did it have to be her mother and not Green? If there was something she’s learned about her mother in the five years she’s been with her, it was that she was a tease.

She might seem all loving and calm, but behind those caring and loving smiles was a gist lover, hungry for things that didn’t concern her, and when she found out, she would use it to tease and blackmail you for a very long time.

Now, with this information she found out, Audrey was sure she was about to be made uncomfortable for a very long time.

Isabella had even managed to make a guy believe that Green loved him; she had pitied Green that period; in the end, when the guy refused to stay away from Green, Green ended up hypnotizing him and asked him never to return to her again.

"This is bad..." Audrey muttered.

The last thought in her mind, before she slept was the thought of Lake and her in the laundry room.

She imagined if they would have done it if their son hadn’t interrupted, how she wished he hadn’t interrupted, but again, she was glad he did; she was being blinded by lust and didn’t care about the aftermath of their action that Lake would have been facing.

Selena was right, she had to think with her brain, not the heart or her pussy...

"Mummy, will I get to see Lake today?" Mikhail questioned from the back of the car as his mother drove him to school.

Audrey glanced at him through the front view mirror, smiling sadly at him.

She couldn’t blame the boy for wanting to see his father all the time; in fact, she wished there was a way for Lake to realize that Mikhail was his son and not realize that she was the mother.

If there was, she would be the happiest woman alive; she wouldn’t care if he ever recognized her. As long as he recognized his own son, then there would be no problems.

"Don’t worry, baby, if you want to see him, you can," Audrey promised.

The rule never said she was to keep his offspring away from him. Mikhail was free to interact with his father; he had no business with whatever happened six years ago; he was innocent and deserved to have a happy life just as the other kids his age did.

She saw Mikhail smiling at her words, his face beaming with excitement about when next he’d get to see his father.

After dropping Mikhail off at his school, she headed straight to her office, ready to start her day with revived energy.

She was going to try and forget all about Lake and Melody; she didn’t want to know their history; as long as she made him happy and took good care of him then that was all that mattered.

Audrey parked her car in her personal space beside her company building and got out of it, she was gently climbing the stairs to enter the building when a voice suddenly stopped her from behind.

"So you really are rich?" Melody’s voice rang maliciously behind her.

Audrey sighed and paused.

’Not another drama, Just when I wanted to forget about it all,’ She thought.

She had already had enough woman drama with Adeline and others back at the Grey Blood Pack; she wasn’t in the mood for another episode of jealous females, after all, this time, she wasn’t even fighting over the man.

She couldn’t be with him, so what was the use of fighting over him?

She put a smile on her face and turned to look at Melody.

"Hi, Melody, welcome to my company, come on in," Audrey invited professionally and turned away, walking into the building.

Melody was surprised, that wasn’t the kind of reaction she was expecting. She thought that, just like her, Audrey had been pretending yesterday in front of Lake, she had expected her to be hostile toward her, just like she was toward her.

Melody frowned and walked up the stairs; she hated that Audrey was already making her feel small with her attitude and the realization that her fellow woman was already a billionaire.

The moment Melody walked through the door, she felt confused by how large the reception was. She couldn’t find Audrey again and she didn’t know which way to go.

As she wanted to step forward, two tall security men suddenly appeared out of nowhere and stopped her by blocking her path.

"We’re sorry, Miss, but we have to send you out of the building," One of the security men spoke.

Melody felt embarrassed and angry, "Do you know who I am?" She asked proudly.

A young lady suddenly walked out from one corner of the reception, "Sorry, guys, I had to run some errands for the boss, what’s the situation here?" The receptionist asked as she saw the lady standing between the security men.

"She barged in," One of the security men replied.

"Oh, my bad, maybe she did book an appointment with me, the boss has a ton of appointments today. Did you book an appointment?" The receptionist asked with a smile.

Melody opened and closed her mouth, she could lie, but the receptionist would check the system and find out she was lying.

She balled her fists in anger, hating Audrey for putting her under such a humiliating condition.

Why did she ask her to come in if she wasn’t planning to allow her in? Just to humiliate her?

"Excuse me, Ma’am, do you have an appointment?" The receptionist asked again.

Melody quickly arranged her features and smiled. "Um, no, I thought I’d book one as I walked in," She lied.

The receptionist shook her head, "I’m sorry, Ma’am, we don’t operate that way. The boss is always fully booked and is never available for a walk-in appointment; she also has a long line of pending bookings, please, for further inquiries, use this, and depending on the value of your business, we’ll get back to you. Gentlemen; please see her out," The receptionist handed one of the security men a card and went into her reception cubicle.

"Please, step out of the building, Miss; if you need an appointment with the boss, please do contact the company through this card," The security guy offered Melody a white business card with just the company’s website on it, and pointed her out to the door.

Melody had never felt so humiliated, still plastering a fake polite smile on her face, she took the card from the security man and walked out of the building.

Her heart was filled with bitterness; something told her that this Audrey was trouble, but she didn’t care, she would make sure she made Audrey and her bastard son realize that they can’t take her Lake away from her.

As Melody left the company building, Audrey watched her from her office’s window, smiling in satisfaction.

Gone are the days when she would have stood and entertained some stupid bitch; time was money, and money was for Mikhail, she needed to give her son all the money she could get, and standing there to listen to the rubbish Melody had to say was one way of not making money.

She closed her blinds and returned to her work.

If Melody really wanted to speak to her, then she was free to book an appointment. She just hoped Melody had the money because baby girl’s not cheap to book.
