Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 171: "Mess with me & find out."
Audrey had almost forgotten about Mark, five years with no communication could do that to a person.
Mark successfully walked past Melody and toward the dining room. "Welcome, brother. Who’s this cute guy?" Je asked, pinching Mikhail’s cheek.
"Hi, I’ll Mikhial, and this is my mother, Audrey," Mikhail introduced.
Audrey smiled.
"How sweet," Miranda commented, staring at Isabella.
"Nice to meet you, Mikhail’s Mother. I’m Mark, the Alpha’s senior brother. You see, I should have been Alpha, but my father-"
"Mark," Miranda called, glaring at him.
"Oh, that’s my mother. Hi mother, I see you didn’t think of calling me when my brother had finally found his Luna," Mark sighed in disappointment.
Audrey chuckled, so far, Mark was proving to be more dramatic than Melody.
"I’m not his Luna, Mr. Mark-"
"Mark is fine, Audrey," He smiled at her and walked over to Lake’s chair.
"Right, I’m not his mate, and I’m not his Luna; I’m just here for business," She corrected.
Mark scoffed, he leaned down on Lake’s back and whispered. "Did you hear that, brother? She’s denying you, are you okay to let that go?"
Lake pushed him away, "Quit it, Mark, you’re embarrassing us," He frowned.
"I think his cool," Audrey said.
"You see? She thinks I’m cool," He chuckled and shifted from Lake.
Mikhail was looking at Mark, unblinking. Audrey noticed this and gently tapped Mikhail’s lap, "Baby, eat," She whispered.
Mikhail smiled at her and minded his business.
"I’d like to take you somewhere after here..." Lake suddenly said to Audrey.
"Me?" Audrey asked quietly.
"No, maybe me; it’s you, of course," Sandra ate her food as if she wanted the one who had spoken.
Audrey turned to her and smiled, she was still waiting when she would speak privately with everyone, especially Sandra.
Suddenly, Lake stood from his chair, glaring at Sandra.
Maria saw this and used her elbow to nudge Sandra’s side, "Um, Sandra, I think you’ve offended the Alpha,"
Sandra immediately stopped chewing and swallowed whatever she had in her mouth, "Alpha?" She cautiously spoke.
Lake slowly sighed, controlling his emotions, he didn’t want his unstable emotions to ruin everything for Audrey, "Apologize," He simply stated.
Sandra furrowed her brows and stared at everyone sitting around the table, silently questioning them about her offense, but no one seemed to be ready to clue her in; they minded their business, not wanting to drag themselves into her problem.
Audrey immediately realized what was going on; Lake didn’t like the way Sandra had spoken to her.
"It’s fine, Lake...she was just being friendly, right, Sandra?" Audrey turned her face to look meaningfully at Sandra.
Sandra widened her eyes, suddenly understanding the whole thing. Lake was angry because of how she had spoken to Audrey.
Weren’t they even allowed to speak casually to her now?
"Um, yes. But I do apologize; it almost felt like she was one of my friends I could easily speak to. I’m sorry, Audrey, Alpha. I’ll be more careful next time," She bowed her head.
Audrey sighed; this wasn’t what she wanted; she wanted to get free with her friends and family, just like in the past.
"It’s alright, Sandy. We can be friends. I’m here for business, not to be dictated by anyone. Please, everyone, feel free to be comfortable around me, I want to make friends, too," She smiled and nodded at Sandra.
Lake stepped out from between the chair and the table and went to Mikhail. "Are you done, little man?" He asked.
Mikhail nodded, "Yes," He replied.
"Do you -"
"Do you want to ride a wolf?" Mark cut Lake off, ignoring the glare that was sent his way.
Mikhail’s face lit up, and he excitedly turned to his mother, "I want to ride a wolf, Moma. Can I ride a wolf?" He questioned.
Audrey smiled brightly, "Of course, you can." She patted his head.
"Yes! Thank you, Moma. I love you," He pushed his chair back and jumped down, he hugged Lake’s legs, "I love you, too, Daddy. I’m going with Mark, bye," He waved his little hand to Lake.
"Bye, everyone; I’ll see you guys soon," Mikhail waved to everyone at the table, causing them to immediately wave back at him.
They were powerless against his cuteness; how couldn’t they resist him?
"Aww, now I feel like adopting him," Mark chuckled as he lifted Mikhail in his arms, "Want another daddy, Mikhail?" He asked.
"Alpha Lake is not his father, Mark, the boy is just being silly," Melody commented from the living room.
Everywhere went quiet; Lake had his eyes pinned on Melody; he was angry.
He slowly started to move toward her, but Miranda’s voice stopped him, "Alpha, I thought there was something you wanted to show your business partner; it’s not a good idea to keep her waiting," She suggested.
Everyone knew that Melify just wanted Lake’s attention as usual; they were grateful that Miranda stopped him from going to her; if not, they would have endured another episode of Melody trying to manipulate Lake into saying beside her.
"Let’s go," Audrey stood and walked over to Lake, holding his hand and walking toward the living room.
Mark followed them behind, noticing that Mikhail was looking sad.
’No way anyone was going to make my nephew sad,’ he thought to himself.
However, he was about to say something to Melody when Audrey stopped in front of her with Lake beside her.
"I’ve warned you before, Melody, but I’ll do it publicly, for the last time," She paused and pointed to Mikhail I’m Mark’s arm.
"That’s my son right there, and if I hear you say one more word to him or about him, I’m telling you for free that I’ll kill you. It’s a promise, you can go ahead and try it again." She warned.
She turned to Lake and smiled at him, "Oh, and as for this hot Alpha beside me, the last time I checked, he wasn’t your mate, and neither is he your fiance. Get a life, stop making drama by forcing yourself on him, especially when you see me with him. If you dare try to make my stay uncomfortable, again...I’ll kill you, do you understand?" She gave Melody a dark smile.
"You go, girl!" Green suddenly cheered from the dining table, causing everyone to stare at her in shock, essentially Sebastian.
Audrey chuckled, "Thank you, Green,"
She turned her head back to Melody and raised a brow at her, "I asked, do you understand my words, Melody?" Audrey asked with a sinister look.
Melody gulped; she felt embarrassed; she looked up at Lake and found him staring at Audrey’s face, for the first time in three years, she got totally ignored by the Alpha.
"I understand," Melody replied, balling her fists beside her.
"Good girl, mess with me and find out," Audrey smiled and looked at Mark and Mikhail.
"Enjoy your time, honey; Mark will take good care of you. Love you," She waved at her smiling son and led Lake out.
If she was still the Audrey from five or six years ago, she might have condoned Melody and her drama. But not anymore; at this stage of her life, she was over all those things; she was now a mother and a wolf in search of her mate. There was no way she was going to let some spoiled brat intimidate her son or try to snatch her mate from her. She meant every word she had said to Melody, she would kill Melody if she ever tried to mess with those two men in her life.
As they walked out of the Packhouse, Audrey almost forgot she was supposed to be a visitor and was about to lead Lake into the forest.
She quickly got herself and stopped walking after leading him a few steps away from the packhouse.
"Oh, where are we heading?" Asked as she turned to look at him, slowly releasing his hand from her own.
Lake stared longer at Audrey before taking a deep breath, "Do you want to go into the forest? I noticed you tried suppressing your wolf in Paris; you can be free here, Audrey; we’re a pack," He gazed upon her with admiration in his eyes; he was really trying to act normal after what Audrey did inside the packhouse.
It felt like he was watching his mate get possessive over him and protective over their cub, he wished it would come to pass one day. He would do everything possible to make it a reality for them
Audrey stared at the forest behind her and instantly felt it calling to her, urging her to come and run free in it.
"Then, lead the way, Alpha," Andrey said to him and stepped aside to let him through.
Lake nodded and walked ahead; for some reason, he suddenly felt like that forest held some kind of secret and was trying to whisper it to him through the winds, but he was no magician; he only ended up feeling more lost than he was.
