Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 198: I like another kind of meat
"How are you feeling, Mikhail?" Audrey gently asked, holding his hand.
Mikhail turned to look at her, his eyes still glowing. "I’m fine, Moma. I just feel a little weird. Is something wrong with my body?" He asked, glancing at Lake beside him.
"No, no; nothing is wrong with you, sweetheart," She looked at Lake, who reluctantly nodded, but you could still see the worry in his eyes.
"You’re fine, Mikhail. Are you hungry?" Lake asked, smiling.
Mikhail nodded, "I want to eat... two bowls of beef stew, no... three." He smiled.
"Wow, quiet an appetite you’ve got there, little Mikhail," Audrey chuckled, poking his cheek.
"I’ll get it for you," Lake said and stood from the bed.
Audrey nodded at him as he walked toward the door, but he suddenly stopped and turned around to gaze at Mikhail.
Audrey furrowed her brows, "What’s wrong, babe?" She questioned, suddenly feeling something strange from Mikhail, too.
"Do you feel that?" Lake asked seriously.
"Feel what? Nope, what are you feeling?" She asked, smiling calmly.
Lake sighed, believing he was imagining things, "Nothing." He said and walked out of the room.
The moment the door closed, Audrey turned to her son and pulled him onto her lap, sniffing his hair deeply.
Mikhail chuckled, "Moma, stop that, it tickles." He said, trying to wriggle out of her hands.
Audrey paused, her heart beating out of excitement and fear.
She now knew why Lake had suddenly stopped and she why she, too, felt what she did.
"Baby, look at me," Audrey said very softly.
Mikhail stared up at her face, waiting.
Audrey touched his face, smiling, "Do you feel your wolf?" She whispered.
Mikhail blinked, thinking deeply before he answered, "Maybe... I think that is why I feel weird Moma. Am I going to shift now?" He asked.
Audrey slowly shook her head, "No, honey, but you will soon. And I need to figure out how to deal with that situation." She told him.
Mikhail was turning six in a few months and as a child from two Alpha bloodline, his shift is expected to happen this early, it might have even been a bit delayed because he has lived away from his pack for so long, and now that he was home, his wolf could no longer keep staying dormant.
His wolf was starting to stir, and the first thing it would do when it fully awakens is to bond with his parents: she and Lake. And, when that happens, Lake will now know that truly, he is Mikhail’s father. She would now be forced to provide him with information that would harm him if it came from her.
She needed a way to make him recall those things by himself before Mikhail’s change happened.
"You want to stop me from shifting? Kill my wolf?" Mikhail asked in a scared voice.
"No! Never. No way, baby. Mummy will never hurt you. When I said I needed to figure out what to do about the situation, I was talking about your father. Remember, I told you he has to remember some things by himself, If he connects with your wolf without figuring those things out, it would be dangerous for him. Do you understand?" She explained.
Mikhail slowly nodded. "Then let’s find a way and help him remember you," He smiled and held his mother’s hand.
Audrey hugged him, closing her eyes to try and calm her nerves down. It seemed like everything was going to move fast from now on, she had to act fast too, if not, she’ll be in a big mess.
’Can’t wait to meet my pup,’ Avery’s voice sighed in Audrey’s head.
’Can’t wait to meet his spirit guide,’ Selena said.
Audre furrowed her brows. She could understand Avery, but Selena...
"Oh, shit..." She muttered as she recalled why Mikhail fell unconscious in the first place.
She had forgotten what he had done with the water in the river.
"What?" Mikhail asked.
Audrey looked at his face and realised that his eyes had returned to normal. So, it had his wolf trying to push through, or his powers just being all over the place.
"What you did with the water, do you remember it?" She asked him.
Mikhail drummed his fingers on Audrey’s knee before his face suddenly lit up, "Yes, Moma. It was so fun. That river was so awesome, it can hear my quiet thoughts and even perform them." He explained excitedly.
Audrey chuckled, "No, you were the awesome one, sweetheart. You’re going to be just like me, you’ve always wanted magic, now you’ve got it, and there are more uncovered powers inside you, we’ll discover those with time." She said, holding him with love.
Mikhail was smiling ear to ear, "Finally, I’m not just an ordinary kid," He giggled.
"You’ve never been an ordinary kid, Mikhail. You’re an Alpha, that should tell you something," Audrey whispered.
Mikhail sighed, "Too bad I can’t share any of this with Dad..." he looked away from her.
Audrey was hurt by his words, "Don’t worry, Sweetheart, I’ll find a way to solve everything so you can finally bond with your father. I promise." She kissed the top of his head.
"I’ll help you, too, Moma, I promise you," He raised his face and kissed her chin.
Audrey giggled, "That tickles, too," She smiled.
She would find an opportunity to take Mikhail back to the secret garden, and she had to see the limits to his powers.
The door gently opened and Lake walked in with Ms. Bridget and Jacqueline trailing behind him. Each woman carried a tray of food in her hands.
"Food is ready, young one," Ms. Bridget said as she placed the food down on the table by the side of Mikhail’s bed.
"Thank you, Ms. Bridget, Miss.," Mikhail smiled and moved away from Audrey’s lap, crawling over to sit by the side of his bed, close to the food table.
"You’re welcome, child," Ms. Bridget replied and quietly walked out of the room with Jacqueline.
"Can I feed you?" Lake asked, moving closer to Mikhail.
"N... Yes." Mikhail wanted to refuse, he loved eating on his own, but he felt like he needed to let Lake feed him, so they could bond, even if it was unconsciously.
Audrey sat quietly, observing Lake as he carefully fed Mikhail. She loved them with all her heart, they were her reason for living.
’Then make it up to them already. You know girl? It’s becoming selfish of you. Just because you want to have him to yourself, you’re keeping the truth from him, depriving father and child of that sweet and strong father-son bonding. Shameful," Avery scoffed in her head.
Audrey balled her fists, frowning.
"Fine," She muttered.
"Did you say something?" Lake asked, glancing at Audrey.
Audrey slowly shook her head as she realised that she had said that out loud.
"Want some, Moma?" Mikhali asked her.
Audrey shook her head, smiling, "He knows the kind of meat I like." She replied, winking at Lake.
Lake suddenly coughed, grabbing Mikhail’s water to drink.
"Audrey..." Lake called her, shocked.
Audrey chuckled, "I’ll go see how Leon is doing." She said and turned away from him.
"I want to see him, too," Mikhail said.
"After you’re done eating," Audrey replied.
She sent Lake a flying kiss as she saw his mood dampening at the mention of Leon’s name.
"Okay, Moma," Mikhail sighed.
Audrey nodded and walked out of the room.
Downstairs, she walked toward Leon’s room but suddenly paused when a familiar scent entered her nose.
"Sebastian..." She murmured as she stared at Green’s door, smiling slyly.
She was happy for them. Sebastian and Green deserved happiness; they were so kind and pure. Sebastian could finally have someone to call his own and Green could finally rely on someone else’s strength.
She couldn’t wait to tease them when she saw them, she couldn’t wait to see the shy look on Green’s face as she asked her how she managed to fall for Sebastian after saying that whoever dated him would be in great regret for the rest of their lives.
Sighing, she shook her head and walked to Leon’s door.
She knocked twice before she opened the door and walked in.
The room was empty.
She was about to leave when she heard someone walking out of the shower.
"Audrey?" Leon called in surprise as he saw her standing in the middle of his room.
Audrey turned at stared at him.
He was wearing white pants with nothing at the top. He looked to have lost some weight but it wasn’t something alarming.
"Leon, how have you been?" She asked him.
Leon walked toward her, staring at her face carefully.
"You’re a wolf, right?" He questioned.
"Yes... Does that scare you?" She asked on return.
Leon sighed, "It did. But Isabella has kind of desensitised me from that fear. She told me everything I have to know about werewolves... and witches. So... I never stood a chance with you because Lake is your true mate, right?" He asked.
Audrey nodded, "Yeah." She said.
"Damn him. I wish I were a wolf, too, an Alpha. Then the moon goddess would pair you with me," He rolled his eyes.
Audrey laughed, "I’m glad you’re okay now and accepting us. Don’t worry, maybe the moon goddess might just grant your wish. We have a lot of hot females here, one of them might just be yours, even if they’re not wolves... witches take mates, too. Keep your fingers crossed." She poked his arm.
Leon smiled, "I’m not picky, after all, if I liked you as a with and a wolf, I don’t mind either." He said.
"Great. So, where are you headed?" Audrey asked him.
"Nowhere, was just heading to the hospital for Caleb to check how I’m doing," Leon replied.
"I’ll walk with you," Audrey said.
"Thank you," Leon replied and hurriedly pulled a shirt over his head.
"Let’s go," he said, ready to leave.
