Chapter 204: A rejected Luna

"That’s my son," Audrey whispered, staring at the water boy with teary eyes.

’Mikhail is such an empathic boy. He felt your worry and wanted you to feel comforted by his presence. However, you must watch out, if the water starts to melt back into the water without Mikhail opening his eyes, it means something is going wrong on the other side.’ The statue informed.

Audrey slowly nodded, she wasn’t going to fret or cry anymore. Her son was here to console her, she couldn’t keep letting her emotions get the best of her, she had to put herself in order.

"They’ll be fine. I know it," Audrey smiled.

She suddenly felt Lake’s hand twitching on her lap, she looked down and saw him holding Mikhail’s hand tightly.

She covered their joined hands with hers, staring at their calm faces.

"Can I eat that?" Sebastian suddenly asked.

Audrey looked up at him and saw him pointing at a tree with some green fruits.

Audrey sighed, and nodded.

"You’re so annoying, Sebastian. Really?" Green asked, frowning.

Sebastian paused his steps and turned to face Green, "But, I’m hungry... can’t I just have one?" He asked, pouting and holding her hand.

Green didn’t respond, she looked away from him and wanted to remove her hand from his but he gently drew her in and placed his hand on her face, slowly turning it back to him.

"Hmm?" He smirked amd slowly kissed her.

"Ew," Mary looked away from Sebastian and Green, folding her arms on her chest.

"Yeah... ew," Audrey sighed, narrowing her eyes at them, "How inconsiderate." She muttered

"True," Maria scoffed.

"Ah!" Sebastian grunted and pulled away from Green, covering his lips.

"Serves you right for making people uncomfortable," Green shrugged, gold that she bit his lip.

"But... you were kissing me back just now," He complained, confused.

"I didn’t," Green denied.

Sebastian turned to everyone, "You guys saw her, right? Right?" He asked, staring at the women who now acted like they don’t undisturbed his language.

Sebastian turned ro the statue for help, "You, too, right? Come on, I know it’s been centuries since you got some, but you did see that right - Ouch!" He jumped up as a thick vine spanked him hard on his ass.

"That serves you just right," Mary chuckled.

"You shouldn’t have spoken to her that way," Maria shook her head at him.

Audrey was smiling, happy she had her family around her. They were not juts friends, but family.

As long as she was concerned, everyone she had encountered from the beginning has turned her family. She loved then with everything she got and she would protect and care for them, huts like they did her.

"Bitter bitch," Sebastian muttered, rubbing his ass.

"Baby, I’m hurt," He went and hugged Green, burying his face in her neck.

Green sighed, "Go already." She gently pushed him off her.

"Thanks, baby," He excited kissed her cheeks and hurried towards the tree with the green fruits.

"Aww, Green is in love, look at her eyes," Maria teased.

"She’s so flushed," Mary added.

Green sighed and turned away from them, "Younguys are so annoying." She faced the water, giving her attention to the water boy, amazed by his thevwater swirled around the whole body just to keep him standing.

"See that? She turned away, it means she’s really -"

"He’s melting into the water," Green suddenly announced.

Audrey immediately stopped smiling and looked at the water, truly, Mikhail’s water twin was slolwy melting back in the water.

Immediately, she looked down at Mikhail’s face and saw him slolwy opening his eyes.

"Oh God..." She sighed in relief.

The statue had said that if the water boy melts away and Mikhail wasn’t up yet, then something wa wrong in the other side. Thankfully, he was coming back to her.

Mikhail slowly opens his eyes, gazing right at his mother, "Moma," he called softly.

"Baby," Audrey leaned down and placed her forehead on his, kissing his nose, "You’re okay, baby, thank younfor coning back to me." She whispered.

Mikhail smiled and kissed her cheek, "I love you, Moma." He said, touching her cheek.

Audrey smiled, breathing in relief.

Mikhail slowly stood from her lap, and looked around the whole place, "Where is he?" He asked.

"Who?" Audrey asked.

"The water me," He replied, looking around the river.

Audrey smiled, "I guess his time was up, he’s back in the water, sweetheart." She said.

"Oh... okay then, I thought he’d wait for me..." he sounded disappointed.

Audrey loomed at Maira, not knowing what to tell Mikhail.

"He’s back to his Moma, Mikhail, just luke your here with yours. He misses his Moma too," Maria tries to explain.

"Okay... Hey, Sebastian! I want one, too!" Je saw Sebastian plucking fruits from the trww and ran toward him.

Mary laughed, "Children will be children." She said.

"Yeah," Maria nodded.

Sudfry smiled, but she suddenly looked down and recalled that the main problem wasn’t over yet.

Mikhail had said nothing about Lake, what did he see? Was Lake okay? Was he coming back to her? To them?

"Don’t worry, he’ll be fine. Mikhail said nothing because he is sure his father is just fine," Maria placed a hand on Audrey shoulder.

Audrey caressed Lake’s face, hoping Maria’s words were true.

"Cheer up, he’ll be just -"

"Baby?" Audrey suddenly called, holding Lake’s hand that had just moved.

"Lake, I’m right here, I’m here, honey, please open your eyes," She whispered desperately.

Mikhail immediately ran over to hid parents when he heard Audrey’s voice, Sebastian following him behind.

"I told you he’ll be fine," Sebastian saud as he stood beside Green.

Audrey held Lake’s hand waiting om him to open his eyes and look at her.

Mikhail sat by his mother’s sude, looking unbuttered as he waited for his father to open his eyes.

Everyone was anxious, hoping he does open his eyes.

Lake’s brows furrowed, his face frowning slightly, as if he was struggling with himself wake up or not.

Audrey gently massaged his brows, smoothing her thumb over his arched, tensed brows.

"I’ve been waiting for hours, sweetheart, please, cond back us, to your son, to your mate. We love you," She said and kissed the sude of his lips.

Mikhail giggled, "Can I have a mate when I grow up, too?" He asked.

Audrey chuckled, "If course, son. You’ll have a very beautiful mate." She assured.

"Just like you, Moma?" He asked.

"Aww," Maria whisper.

Audrey smiled, "Yes, baby, even prettier." She told him.

Mikhail shook his head, "No, Moma. You’re the most beautiful woman in the whole world. If she’s prettier then I don’t want her. You’re supposed to be the only pretty one." He said firm.

Audrey laughed lightly, "I love you, Mikhail." She patted his head.

"Dad," Mikhail called quietly, a happy smile appearing on his face.

Audrey snapped her head down to look at Lake, excitement bubbling inside her bones. However, when she looked at him her excitement was snatched put of her by an invisible habd when she saw the way Lake was staring at her.

His eyes held no warmth, no love... he looked like he couldn’t even remember her.

Audrey felt like history was about to repeat itself.

Everyone was on the edge, waiting for Lake to say a word to Audrey. They could all sense the tension between them, and they hoped that no more rifts would come between Lake and Audrey again. They all knew how hard the couple had suffered, anymore obstacles might just as well break them forever.

"Lake?" Audrey called softly as Lake gently raised himsfron her lap, shifting away from her to stretch himself.

"Dad, you’re back," Mikhail went over to Lake and hugged him.

To everyone’s relief, Lake hugged Mikhail back, even kisses his head.

Now, they knew that it wasn’t the case of forgetfulness. If Lake couldn’t remember Audrey, the he shouldn’t remember Mikhail, bit since he remembered his son, then he should remember his mate.

Then, why was he acting strange?

Lake stood and carries Mikhail, turning to walk away from the rest.

"Lake," Audrey called but Lake didn’t stop to look at her.

"Lake!" She yelled, balling her fists.

Lake halted, and slowly, he turned to face Audrey. His eyes cold as ever.

Audrey felt like she was back to Chapter one when Lake used to give her those cold, unfamiliar looks. She felt her heart shatter into a million pieces, hee world crumbling to her feet.

What was happening?

"Lake, are you okay? What’s going on? I’ve been here, you know? Waiting for you, holding you. Now, you’re here but you’re not even looking at me. What is the problem, Baby?" She asked in a calm tone, her eyes searching his for any trace of familiarity, but she didn’t find one.

"I know ow you’re my mate, Audrey. You bear mark, a fresh mark. And, unfortunately, I bear yours, too," Lake started.

Audrey suddenly staggered back, placing her hand on her chest, she felr lime it was going to explode with the kind of stinging pain she felt frok Lake’s words.

"Unfortunately nears my mark?" She whispered, tears forming in her eyes once more, and this time, those tears came from her soul.

"I remember everything, Audrey, and I would be a fool to want to take someone like you as my Luna. Tonight, I will be holding a gathering to announce to everyone that they will not be having you as their Luna. I shall reject you as my Luna, Audrey," Lake stated and turned away, walking away from everyone.

Mikhail stared at his mother’s broken face with sad, helpless eyes.

Audrey suddenly laughed, "Y’all heard that, right?" She tuned to her friends, her eyes telling a different ageoy from her laughter.

Everyone was quiet, scared to say the wrong thing to her. They knew she wasn’t herself at that moment, even them weren’t themselves, they were still trying to understand what the fuck just happened.

"Fuck you!" Audrey suddenly used her magic to lift a heavy rick from the ground and aimed it at the statue.

"Don’t!" Maria rushed over to her and hugged her, causing her to lose her focus on the stone and let it drop back to the ground.

Audrey lost it and went limp on Maria’s arms, wailing like a child.

"He’s leaving me! He’s going to reject me!" She cried loudly, her body shaking all over with her heavy sobbing.

"It fucking hurts!!!" She screamed into Maria’s shoulder, her body trembling greatly.

Maria didsay anything, she simply rubbed her back, feeling her own tears slowly rolling down from the sides of her eyes.

The rest went and hugged her too, simply consoling her with their presence.

Audrey laughed again and slolwy eased out of their hugs, "Who am I kidding? He wants to reject me, right? Fine, he can do that. I’ve gir the wolf of the moon goddess, I’m the strongest fucking witch alive," She laughed and sniffed, aggressively wiping her eyes with the back of her hands.

"Audrey, it’s going to be-"

"I don’t fucking care anymore. He can go ahead and reject me. No ones stopping him. After that, I’ll just make him fall irrevocably in love with me, forever. Let’s see how he gets out of that. He thinks he can just wake up and fucking decide to ditch me? Not happening, Lake, I’ve been through too much shit to let you go. Let’s go, guys, we have a gathering to prepare for," Audrey smirked and turned toward the gate, marching with purpose.

’I must warn you, you can’t use magic to make him love you, you will only destroy both of your souls,’ The statue saud as Audrey marched away.

Audrey didn’t respond, she was done listening to done dumb, immobile bitch.

Still not stopping or looking back, she simply raised her hand above her head and gave the statue a middle finger.

"Fuck you all," She muttered as she stepped out of the garden.
