Chapter 114: Chapter 114: What Is He Grieving Over?

Theodore Grant lay on the bed, his arm thrown tightly over his eyes.

Tears trickled from the corners of his eyes, drop by drop...

’Perhaps.’

’It was only here, in this small space of his own, that he could fully unleash his pain and sorrow.’

Lucas Grant couldn’t find Theodore Grant at the Grant Group.

He stomped on the gas and drove straight to the Grant Residence.

Weller Kendall was still sitting in the living room. When he saw headlights sweep across the French windows, he got up and went outside.

Lucas Grant slammed his car door shut, fuming, and bellowed Theodore’s name. "Get out here! The engagement party has become the laughingstock of Riverden, and you’re still hiding like a coward?"

"Mr. Grant." Weller Kendall raised a hand to block Lucas Grant from entering. "Mr. Grant is grieving right now. Perhaps you should come back another day."

"What’s he grieving about?" To Lucas Grant, this was just an excuse for Theodore to avoid him. "A woman he didn’t love is dead, so what? Isn’t her death exactly what he wanted? Stop with this deep-love act and tell him to get his ass down here and see me."

"Mr. Grant..." Weller Kendall was about to say more.

Just then, he saw Theodore Grant walking down from the second floor, his eyes red and swollen. "Let him in."

"Yes."

Weller Kendall lowered his arm, and Lucas Grant strode into the living room with a cold snort.

"Theodore Grant, do you have any idea how many of our Grant Group’s business partners I invited to the engagement party? What kind of stunt are you pulling? You vanished for a whole week. Do you know how much damage that’s caused?"

Theodore Grant sank wearily into the sofa, pinching the bridge of his nose. He looked at Lucas Grant with cold eyes. "What’s wrong? Did you not get the department store shares? Or did the Lynch Family refuse to sell you that plot of land?"

"You..." Lucas Grant’s eyes darkened. ’So, he knew everything.’ "...Once Wanda Lynch marries you, what’s hers is yours, and what’s yours belongs to the Grant Family. There’s no buying or selling involved."

"Is that so?" He pulled out a contract and tossed it onto the table. "This contract doesn’t mention you getting anything."

"Theodore Grant, are you trying to settle old scores with your own father?" Lucas Grant slammed his hand on the table, furious. "I was playing these games before you were even born!"

"Let me spell it out for you. The Lynch parents’ will clearly states that all Lynch Family assets belong to Natalie Morgan. Wanda Lynch has no right to dispose of any property under the Lynch name, including the shares and land she sold you."

Hearing Natalie Morgan’s name,

Lucas Grant burst out laughing. "Belong to Natalie Morgan? Didn’t you just bury her? How can anything belong to her now?"

"She’s dead, but I’m still alive." He narrowed his dark eyes, staring at Lucas Grant. "Which means all of her inheritance now belongs to me. That includes the shares and land Wanda Lynch sold you under the Lynch Family name. None of it is valid."

"You..." Lucas Grant’s eyes bulged with anger. "...You’re too much... How could I have raised a son like you, scheming against your own father?"

"You were the one who broke the rules first."

Theodore Grant was not in a mood to negotiate.

He gave a slight flick of his finger, and Weller Kendall came over to escort the man out. "Mr. Grant, you should go home for now. Mr. Grant is in a bad mood. Please don’t add fuel to the fire."

"What, so now it’s my fault he’s angry?" Lucas Grant’s finger trembled as he pointed at Theodore. "Natalie Morgan’s suicide has already caused significant fluctuations in the Grant Group’s stock price. What you need to do now is calm this situation down, not sit here moping over some foolish woman."

"Go. Go now..." Theodore Grant pointed at the door, his teeth practically grinding to dust. "...Get out..."

Weller Kendall grabbed Lucas Grant and started dragging him out.

The older man cursed under his breath, not a single pleasant word leaving his lips.

Theodore Grant was exhausted.

’He needed a long sleep. Maybe he would see her in his dreams. He so badly wanted to ask her... why did she choose to end her life this way...?’

「One month later.」

Wanda Lynch hadn’t been able to see Theodore Grant, and she was a nervous wreck.

She had called him many times.

Either his phone was off, or no one answered. More recently... the number was no longer in service.

’How could the CEO of the Grant Group’s phone number be out of service?’

’He must have blocked her.’

’But why would he block me?’

’Natalie Morgan is dead. Shouldn’t he be devoting all his attention to me now? What on earth happened?’

Wanda Lynch still hadn’t figured out what was going on.

A group of workers in moving company uniforms walked in.

She frowned at the people who had barged into her home. "Who are you? This is breaking and entering!"

"This house has been sold. The owner asked us to come and help you move your things." The worker looked at the order form in his hand and asked Wanda Lynch, "You’re the tenant, Wanda Lynch, right?"

’Tenant?’

’When did I become a tenant?’

"I’m the owner of this house. Who sent you?" Wanda Lynch’s face darkened. She raised her crutch and pointed it at the workers. "You can’t just barge into someone’s home. I can call the police and have you arrested."

The worker glanced at his order form again to confirm. "Miss Lynch, the deed to this house is in Mr. Theodore Grant’s name, not yours. So, would you like to pack your things yourself, or should we help you?"

’Is Theodore trying to kick me out?’

’Why would he kick me out of here?’

’No, he’s not kicking me out. He must be preparing to marry me, to have me move into the Grant Residence.’

’That must be it.’

A look of pleasant surprise and excitement spread across Wanda Lynch’s face.

She lifted her chin, looked at the movers, and ordered, "Go on and pack for me, then. My things are very valuable, so be careful."

"We have professional packing materials. Don’t worry."

"Fine. Go ahead and pack."

The moving company staff were quick and efficient. After packing up Wanda Lynch’s belongings, they moved everything out of the house.

Then, as per the owner’s instructions, they locked the door behind them.

"Miss Lynch, if you have a new address, we can move all your things there for you."

Wanda Lynch, imagining she would soon be moving into the Grant Residence, waved a hand dismissively. "No need. Someone will be here to pick me up shortly."

"I see." The worker took out an invoice and handed it to her. "In that case, could you please pay the fee first? The total is two thousand, three hundred and forty-six yuan. Will you be paying with cash or by scanning the code?"

"What?" Wanda Lynch flew off the handle, her expression turning ugly. "What... there’s a fee?"

The worker looked at her in surprise and chuckled. "We’re not a charity."

Wanda Lynch huffily took out her phone and scanned the payment code. "Since I’m about to become Mrs. Grant, I won’t bicker with you over a couple thousand yuan. Just consider it a coffee tip."

The workers exchanged a confused glance but didn’t say anything more. They collected the payment and left.

Wanda Lynch couldn’t get in touch with Theodore Grant.

So she tried calling Noelle Bell...

"The number you have dialed is currently switched off..."

’Why is her phone off too?’

Just then, a black car pulled up slowly in front of the house.

The window rolled down, revealing Weller Kendall’s usual calm and indifferent face.

Seeing Weller Kendall, Wanda Lynch hobbled towards him on her crutch. "Assistant Kendall, you’re here to pick me up, right? Has Theodore been very busy lately? Since I’m not by his side, you must remind him to take care of himself."

As she spoke, Wanda Lynch lifted her foot to get into the car.

Weller Kendall extended an arm, blocking her. His voice was colder than ever. "Wanda Lynch, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not here to pick you up."
