He Got Engaged to His First Love On the Day I Died-Chapter 81: Spoiled by Men, Unwilling to Serve One
Theodore Grant’s hospitalization became a major event in Riverden.
For a while, all sorts of speculation ran rampant.
Natalie Morgan didn’t go to the hospital. But she could still get a general idea of Theodore Grant’s condition from the daily media headlines.
He wasn’t dead.
The word was that the knife hadn’t hit any vital organs.
He had just lost a lot of blood and was a bit weak.
Wanda Lynch, on the other hand, did go, only to be berated and driven away by the Grant family. The sight of her limping out of the hospital on a crutch was almost comical.
Claire peeled an apple and handed it to her. "Alright, stop reading the news. You can barely take care of yourself, so why worry about whether he lives or dies? Wouldn’t it be better if he were dead?"
"Yeah," Natalie Morgan agreed, taking the apple and biting into it.
The sweet, fruity aroma even brought a slight smile to her lips.
What Claire couldn’t figure out was why that damn pervert would take a knife for Natalie Morgan.
"I mean, I could understand if Theodore Grant took a knife for Wanda Lynch. But for you? Is he crazy?"
’What was so hard to understand? He didn’t want Wanda Lynch to become a murderer. If Wanda Lynch had actually stabbed me to death, she would have had to pay for it with her life. How could he bear that?’
’Stabbing him was different. As long as he didn’t press charges, it would be ruled a suicide attempt.’
"He was probably afraid his sweetheart would get into trouble."
Claire nodded. That seemed to make sense. "I guess it must be true love then."
That Wanda Lynch was completely unhinged. She and Theodore Grant were a match made in heaven.
She hoped the two of them would be stuck with each other for life.
Right now, Natalie Morgan’s biggest worry was Thomas Morgan. "Claire, Wanda Lynch reported Thomas for rape, and the police opened a case. Do you think he’ll be arrested?"
Claire hadn’t heard anything yet.
"But Thomas was sent abroad for treatment a few days ago. They’d have to wait for him to get back before they could arrest him."
"Maybe by then, he’ll have recovered and can tell everyone the truth."
"So don’t worry. They can’t arrest him for now. Thomas isn’t in the country."
"Really?" ’That’s wonderful.’
Claire chatted with Natalie Morgan for a little while longer before leaving.
「About half an hour later.」
Natalie Morgan heard a commotion outside her room.
First, nurses bustled in and out, tidying up the other bed in her shared room.
Then, a few people who looked like housekeepers came in and changed all the sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases.
After that, Noelle Bell walked in.
Seeing Natalie Morgan, she lifted her chin slightly. "Mr. Grant will be transferred to this room shortly. Try not to make him angry."
’Theodore Grant is transferring to this room?’
’Isn’t he staying at the hospital owned by the Grant Group?’
’The facilities there are better, and it’s much more private.’
’He’s moving to a regular hospital?’
’Into a shared room, no less?’
Seeing Natalie Morgan’s confused expression, Noelle Bell rolled her eyes and left the room.
People were coming and going all afternoon.
But there was still no sign of Theodore Grant.
Around eight in the evening, Theodore Grant walked in, accompanied by Weller Kendall.
At that moment, Natalie Morgan was drawing something on a tablet with a stylus.
She didn’t even look up when he came in.
Natalie Morgan didn’t spare him a single glance, not even after he lay down on his bed.
"Weller, I need my dressing changed," Theodore Grant said, his eyes fixed on the woman in the adjacent bed.
Natalie Morgan remained focused, doodling on her tablet.
Weller Kendall immediately responded, "I’ll go get a nurse."
"No need. Let her do it." Theodore Grant looked at Natalie and ordered, "You. Come change my dressing."
Natalie Morgan finally put down her stylus and glanced at him coolly. "I’m a patient, not a nurse."
"I saved your life." He gave her a look that dared her to refuse. "Natalie Morgan, it’s the least you can do."
’Life-saver?’
’How ridiculous.’
’Did I ask him to save me?’
’Or did he even do it *to* save me?’
’He conspired with Wanda Lynch to steal my designs and then let her, even encouraged her, to call the police on my brother. After all that, how could he have the gall to call himself my savior?’
"That’s what you think," Natalie Morgan said, ignoring him. She lay down and turned her back to him.
Theodore Grant was about to lose his temper.
Weller Kendall quickly tried to placate him. "I’ll get a nurse to change your dressing, sir. Please don’t get angry. You’re still recovering."
Theodore Grant’s wound was actually almost healed.
The only reason he had transferred here was because he’d suffered such a serious injury for Natalie Morgan’s sake.
And yet, she hadn’t visited him even once.
No texts, no calls. Nothing.
She was acting as if nothing had happened, and he couldn’t stomach it.
"I shouldn’t have saved you. I should have just let Wanda Lynch stab you to death. That would have solved everything."
Natalie Morgan slowly opened her eyes. The dim light illuminated her exquisite face.
’So that’s what Theodore Grant really thinks.’ 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
’He does everything for Wanda Lynch. True love is invincible, I suppose.’
"Theodore Grant." Her voice was soft, with a faint, low undertone.
The man answered irritably, "What is it?"
"Wanda Lynch said you’ve already signed the divorce papers. When can you give them to me? I’m ready to sign." She wanted it to be as soon as possible. "You don’t have to give me anything. I don’t want a thing."
Theodore Grant had already torn up the divorce papers and thrown them in the trash.
He had already abandoned the idea of divorcing her.
’How did Wanda Lynch know about that?’
’And she told Natalie, of all people.’
"Found yourself a few new prospects, have you? Is that why you’re so impatient?" he sneered, his voice laced with contempt. "You won’t even change my dressing. Why would I give you a gift like that?"
Natalie Morgan shot up in bed.
’He was clearly making things difficult for me, yet he acted like he was the one being wronged.’
"I’ll change your dressing. But you have to give me the divorce papers today. I’ll sign them right now."
Natalie Morgan was desperate.
The man looked at her slowly. "We’ll see how you do."
Weller Kendall returned with a nurse. "Mr. Grant, the nurse is here to change your dressing."
"Just leave the supplies. Mrs. Grant is going to change it for me personally." Theodore Grant intentionally fixed his gaze on her face. "Mrs. Grant is perfectly willing, aren’t you?"
Natalie Morgan hated his playful, mocking tone.
Biting her lip, she got out of bed and took the tray from the nurse. "I’ll do it."
The nurse said nothing and left.
Weller Kendall started to say something, but one look from Theodore Grant sent him obediently out of the room as well.
The lights in the hospital room were dim.
Theodore Grant, dressed in a hospital gown, was half-reclined with his hands behind his head. His gaze on her face was brazen.
Natalie Morgan walked over to Theodore Grant. "Unbutton your gown."
"You do it," he said, staring at her without restraint.
He could see the helplessness, disdain, and disgust on her face.
"You don’t seem very willing, Mrs. Grant," he chuckled, his tone taunting. "I guess a woman who’s used to being served by men doesn’t like serving them."
She didn’t say a word.
’It wasn’t worth arguing with him.’
She raised her hands to unfasten the buttons.
Her slender fingertips moved with extreme care, as if afraid to touch his skin.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, and a hint of desire colored his gaze.
Suddenly, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward him.
Panicked, she looked up, her eyes meeting his.
