Hearts System: 1000 Ways to Tell CEO I Love You-Chapter 25: White Moon (1)
"I don’t know how much you need." Leander chuckled behind his glass again, just in time for Luellen’s subtle glare. "Just let me know when you find one you like."
Instead of controlling her mouth, Luellen snapped out of character. "Does Ms Valerie think you’re an ass, too?"
Freeze!
Luellen covered her mouth, and Leander laughed. She then whined and patted the envelope against the glass table. "Mr Leander! You’re so unfair!"
"Give in to Beck’s request. Spend another night here. I’ll take you shopping tomorrow. If you come with us, just carry the bags to avoid suspicion." Leander shook his head and hid behind his glass again. His arm lifted as if prepared to deflect anything Luellen might throw at him.
"I hate you..." Luellen ugly-cried into her hand.
[You have gained more of (Leander Wentworth)’s interest! EXP +50!]
[Congratulations on reaching Level 11! You have earned 2,250 Yellow Heart/s, 22 Proficiency point/s, and 5 Red Heart/s!]
’Are you kidding me?’
...
Despite her better judgment, Luellen agreed to stay overnight in the Wentworth Villa. Her guest room had become her dedicated space. She didn’t have to worry about her clothes or her makeup. If Leander asked, Luellen had indeed brought a big backpack. That should save her from his scrutiny.
Day 7 rolled in, and Luellen prepared for today’s trip to the shopping mall. The guest room had an ensuite, so she didn’t have to run into any accidents.
Perhaps the only strange thing was waking up in a huge empty villa. Luellen sat at the kitchen island, only eating some cereal. She would make a heavy breakfast, but she figured Beckett would love to cook for her again. Right now, she just savored the silence, which her crunchy meal occasionally broke.
"The Yellow Hearts Shop is just like an online shopping app." Luellen sighed, exiting the shop interface. She saw a lot that she wanted to buy. Then again, she wanted to keep a high upkeep in case of emergencies. Only a few orders were made last night.
"I wonder when I will get a Blue Heart. I wonder what kind of things are sold in that shop..." She hummed before eating the last spoonful of her cereal.
Steps then soon echoed from outside. Luellen caught Leander walking in his jogger outfit. They stared at each other for a few seconds again. Clearly, Leander was not used to seeing anyone else in the house besides his brother. Unlike yesterday, Luellen broke the awkwardness with a smile and a greeting.
Leander only hummed and walked to the fridge. He took out a chilled banana and leaned on the counter. In between small bites, he asked, "How was your sleep?"
"I’m okay. The bed and pillows took a few minutes to get used to." Luellen had to lie. With the quality of those items, she fell asleep in a snap. Not to mention that the system could knock her out if deemed necessary.
"That’s good to hear." Leander nodded. When he finished eating, he disposed of the peel and left the kitchen. "I’m taking laps around the property. If Beck wakes up before I’m home... just make sure he won’t run into a wall. He walks around with his eyes closed in the mornings."
"I saw that." Luellen chuckled and waved goodbye.
In just a snap, the interaction was over. The man didn’t even care if Luellen helped herself with the cereal she found. It didn’t matter. Luellen just had to get rid of the evidence. She washed everything she used and left the kitchen just the same.
The Wentworth Villa was so quiet. Luellen figured Beckett kept everything tidy in the huge house. He only needed to spend every weekend cleaning deeper. It couldn’t be helped. Maids and guards didn’t have a good record with this villa. Everyone just seemed to want something from the Wentworths.
Still, Luellen couldn’t imagine owning a big house with no domestic staff. Should she be cleaning three bathrooms and five bedrooms? She didn’t think she could do it.
"Luellen?" She heard someone calling out her name. When she looked out of the balcony, she found Beckett yelling from the backyard. He then waved his hand and smiled widely at her. "What do you want for breakfast?"
"Mr Beckett...?" Luellen squinted, spotting the man’s reddening forehead. "Oh, no...! I’m going to meet you! Please stay there!"
It was good that Leander ended up walking instead of jogging. He received a call so early in the morning. He arrived at the house just in time for breakfast. Beckett’s forehead was already clear of the small bump. Of course, Luellen chose to use her ’smelling salts’ to fix it.
...
The sun reflected on the metallic colors on the road. Leander’s SUV soon rolled up in a parking space behind a big mall. Even though the car’s brand attracted a lot of attention, Leander didn’t want his plate number displayed to everyone passing by. More when he alighted with his brother and a younger woman.
As suggested, Luellen still wanted to play an assistant role. She just chose to show up in a blue t-shirt and off-white jeans. Nothing fancy was on her body, but the illusion shattered upon a closer look.
Her shoes seemed made of aquamarine glass, supported by thick three-inch heels. White moon dangling earrings peeked from her hair, which were paired with her white thin belt and its white moon buckle. On her face was a pair of blue spectacles. She could even put it on her head.
"Gosh, you look so good!" Beckett laughed as he watched Luellen walk with them. Her outfit didn’t fall short compared to the men’s designers.
"Uhm, thanks..." Luellen hid her blush. She researched a good look for today’s trip. It was good that the system knew how to recommend pieces from the Yellow Hearts Shop. Yes, Luellen spent over 1,200 Yellow Hearts. Yes, she felt so guilty about the purchases.
No, she had yet to unlock a dress for their fine dining dinner.
Luellen sneaked a look at Leander, but the CEO only kept his eyes straight. It was okay. This was better than him looking over in disappointment.
"Hey, hey, Andy, where should we go first?" Beckett called his brother’s attention. "We can’t go straight to the boutique for formal wear, can we? That would ruin the look you were going for."
"In fact, we should." Leander slowed down, allowing the two to catch up. "Houston called me earlier. He said that Director Lawford was to throw a farewell party for one of his long-time employees. We were invited just this morning. We might have to attend that party instead of the fine dining dinner."
Luellen flinched. "Uhm, did they invite me, too? I don’t think I should attend it if they only reached out to you, Mr Leander."
Leander smiled for only a second. "They invited you and me in particular. That old man seemed to be interested in you. Nonetheless, I figured you would decline attending that party with me alone. I told Houston to bring everyone from the office."
"Oh... thank you very much, Mr Leander." Luellen heavily sighed in relief. She didn’t know how to decline if Leander asked her to be his date for that party.
