Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 230: Illusionary Void
When Jiang Hao appeared, a vast city wall entered his eyes. He didn't go towards the city gates. Even though he wouldn't be paid much attention, if he used Nirvana's Veil, it was still better to just enter using teleportation. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
He moved around the city wall using his spirit sense, and when he found a vacant spot, he teleported. The location was a narrow alley. He entered the city quietly.
He wasn't here to cause any trouble, he just wanted to confirm that his enemies had taken his bait, and it didn't take long for him to confirm it, as most of the cultivators walking around the streets were talking about it.
It seemed that everyone was forced to search for them in the whole Central Region. The knowledge of two ancestors descending had also become quite well-known, and because of this, everyone was listening to them.
Sects from other regions had been asked to send reinforcements too, and the same threat of their destruction had been issued to them if they didn't listen.
Jiang Hao moved for some time in the city before he disappeared and went back to the village. His eyes suddenly fell on the roof of the house where he had been standing before… Senior Yao Ying was sitting there, looking toward the forest.
He felt inner peace seeing her, the same kind of peace he always used to feel when he walked alone to seek solace. He really couldn't believe he would reach this level of bond with her in just these short months.
The strange agitation in his heart still erupted when he went too close to her, but it was something he always looked forward to now. There was one thing he still wasn't able to do — it was to hold her hand without using the excuse of teleportation.
He wanted to hold it casually, but he was never able to gather enough courage to do so. He was still very conscious about their strength and status gap.
Jiang Hao sighed and climbed to the top of the roof.
"How was it?" Yao Ying asked while still looking toward the forest.
Jiang Hao sat down beside her with a small distance between them. "Senior, they have taken the bait… their attention is only on the Central Region."
This was the outcome he desired. With this, he didn't have to worry about most things. He would end this façade in the Central Region itself.
"So what are you planning to do? Move to the inner areas of the Central Region or stay here?"
Jiang Hao thought for a second when he heard that. "Senior, will it implicate this village if I stayed here for a long time?"
"As I said, your trials won't affect others. Not to mention, I doubt you will be getting one right now. Usually one or two trials happen per realm, so you don't have to worry much."
Jiang Hao sighed and nodded. "Then let us stay here."
He had enough spirit stones, and since his only goal was to cultivate, it didn't matter where he was. There was another reason he was keen on staying in this village. It was the way the villagers looked at them — husband and wife.
Senior Yao never said anything about it. Maybe she didn't care, or maybe she silently approved of it. He really couldn't figure out her thoughts clearly.
Anyway, he wanted to stay in this misunderstanding for the time being.
He wasn't using any mask either now, but he was sure that the villagers weren't able to see his real face. Yet unlike others, these villagers didn't forget them.
"As you wish." After saying that, Yao Ying stood up. "I am going to cultivate."
Jiang Hao nodded. She was basically going to comprehend Dao. He also took out spirit stones and began absorbing them.
Time flew by, seasons changed, and in the blink of an eye two years passed.
...
Jiang Hao was about to break through to the Void Reversion Realm. Due to cultivating almost all the time, he was able to complete his journey of the Nascent Soul Realm within only two years. He was near thirties now by age, but his looks were still those of a nineteen-year-old youth.
Void Reversion's breakthrough was quite different from other breakthroughs. It seemed simple, but in truth it was the opposite.
Basically, you were pulled into an illusion where you were surrounded by only void. Once there, you chose a way and began walking. Every direction led to an eventual destination, but your choice could affect the time taken to reach it.
It was as though the void was a giant circular expanse, and you were placed randomly anywhere other than the center.
If you chose to walk toward the nearest wall of dimension, then you would be fortunate enough to cross earlier. But if you chose the opposite side, then the time taken would be tremendous.
Although even if you chose to walk toward the nearest wall, it would still take years inside the illusion. If you chose the opposite side, then it would take decades easily inside it.
The passage of time itself was an illusion, as no matter which direction you chose, you would complete your journey within a week in the outside world, as long as you kept walking.
In the end, Void Reversion Realm tested your will in the truest sense. The solitary walk in the void for decades wasn't something weak-hearted cultivators could even think of crossing.
You couldn't change directions or stop, or else the void you were in would teleport you to a different location, and you would once again be in the same situation of choosing the right direction.
Many still stopped and changed directions in hopes of finding the shortest route by chance. Although, they had to walk for a few years to even feel that they had chosen the wrong way.
Jiang Hao didn't need to make any special preparation like others. He just looked toward Senior Yao Ying, who was sitting in front of him, to burn her image inside his mind. Now he never averted his eyes whenever she looked at him.
He looked into her eyes for a few breaths. "I will start, Senior."
Yao Ying nodded calmly. Her eyes were fixed on his eyes without any expression that would give away her real thoughts.
