Hell University-Chapter 46 - 45: If you are not the one
Zeinβs Point of View
Is it enough to justify that I love him, and thatβs why Iβm still clinging to him? Should I fight for a love where everyone around us disagrees? Does love really conquer all?
Thatβs a question I still canβt answer. Where will this love take us? ππΏπππ ππππ¨πππ.ππ π
Right now, Supremo and I are in the library because he said he wants me all to himself. I canβt look at him directly because heβs smiling at me so intently. Awkward.
"Come on... darling, look at me."
That "darling" is killing me. I used to hate endearments, I found them gross and over the top, but now... I canβt exactly define what I feel whenever I hear that one word from him. Yeah, that one word.
I kept my head down, too shy to look up. What does he even want? Are we just going to stare at each other until later?
"Zein?"
"Supremo, seriously..."
I heard him chuckle. I couldnβt stop myself from blushing, and even if I wanted to run away, my knees, and my heart, wouldnβt let me.
"If youβre not the one, then why does my soul feel glad today?"
Goosebumps rose as I lifted my gaze. His voice was so calm... so cold. Oh my ghad.
Supremo is singing.
He smirked when he saw he had my full attention.
"If youβre not the one, then why does my hand fit yours this way?"
A strong jolt shot through me when I felt him take my hand, our fingers interlacing as he looked straight into my eyes.
Oh my ghad.
"If you are not mine, then why does your heart return my call?"
I thought I had already fallen, but in moments like these, I realize,
Iβm still falling. Deeper, so much deeper. If ever, will I still be able to climb back up? Why are you making this so hard for me, Ace? Why?
"If you are not mine, would I have the strength to stand at all?"
I didnβt know Supremo could sing, not just sing casually. He lets every lyric sink into my mind, all the way down to my heart.
I gasped when he pulled the monoblock chair I was sitting on and turned it to face him.
"Iβll never know what the future brings."
His voice grew colder, as if he were stopping time itself... the sound of my heartbeat slowly fading from my ears.
"Weβll make it through, and I hope you are the one I share my life with."
He held my cheek and wiped away the tears that had apparently been falling for a while now. His hand was cold, still trembling.
He leaned closer and rested his forehead against mine. Now, I could feel his warmth... his breathing. I could clearly see the way his eyes pleaded, fighting, holding on.
"I donβt want to run away, but I canβt take it. I donβt understand."
My hair stood on end again when he sang that line. His cold voice, as if he were only whispering it to me.
"If Iβm not made for you, then why does my heart tell me that I am?"
I couldnβt stop myself from hugging him. I buried my face in his shoulder and hit his arm weakly. I was annoyed, annoyed that with every passing minute, I loved him even more. I donβt know how this happened. I should be hating you, but why now... do I love you more than ever?
His embrace tightened around me as he gently stroked my hair.
"Darling, I want to scream... please stop me," he whispered against my ear.
I gave a bitter smile. "Donβt," I whispered back.
Even though the way he said it was vague, it was crystal clear to me. I knew exactly what he meant, and I was ready to stop him. I donβt want this to end just yet. Iβm scared, terrified, actually.
"I hope you can stop me, because I canβt control myself. I might scream your name right now... everything I feel. Zein, Iβm crazy about you, and Iβm ready to give it my all."
Ace, what about us? Iβm so confused. Was choosing you the right thing to do? What about everything youβve worked so hard for? Even if you donβt tell me, I know youβve grown attached to them too, to what you have. Supremo, I hope I can fight for you... I hope.
"What a scene."
I quickly pulled away from Supremoβs embrace, even though he held on tighter.
Fear consumed me when I saw Roxane, crouched and grinning. I breathed a little easier when I realized there was no one else in the library except the three of us and the librarian, smiling as she organized papers at her table, far from us.
I slumped into my seat, words refusing to come out of my mouth.
"Just be thankful youβre still alive," Supremo said indifferently, his attention fixed on our hands that were still intertwined.
He really wasnβt afraid. It was as if none of it mattered to him.
"Oh well, Supremo. That was probably the biggest mistake of your life. You shouldβve finished me off," Roxane replied with a smile.
Roxaneβs body suddenly went cold, as if she had frozen in place for no apparent reason. I frowned. She had gone pale as she stared at Supremo.
I looked at Supremo and almost cursed when I saw him playing with a knife. He was twirling it around his finger as if it were just a toy. I couldnβt be mistaken, it was exactly like the knife he had given me. I also saw the black dragon symbol on the handle... and the dragonβs eye was red.
"T-Thatβs the symbol of-"
Roxane froze again as Supremo turned his fierce gaze toward her. Even I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"I will count..."
Roxane took a step back, trembling.
"One,"
She took another step back, accidentally knocking over a vase that shattered with a deafening crash.
"Two,"
Roxane collapsed to the floor and quickly crawled out of the library, while I remained frozen. I just canβt believe it.
"Darling, letβs eat?"
I looked at Supremo, who was now smiling at me and no longer holding the knife. How did he manage to unleash that terrifying side of himself, and then smile again so quickly?
Supremo... do I really know you? Or is there still more I need to learn about you?
After we ate, I had class, so Supremo and I had to part ways again. Sigh.
"Zein, tomorrow, okay?"
I pretended to frown and acted like I had no idea what he was talking about.
"Whatβs with tomorrow?"
"Oh come on. You canβt fool me, Zein."
I couldnβt help but laugh, I really couldnβt deceive this man after all.
"Alright, but I donβt have a gift," I said, a little embarrassed by that fact.
Thereβs no mall here where I could buy one, and I donβt have money either, Iβm basically just relying on what the university provides. Sad life.
"I want you, only you."
I turned my back on him to hide my reddening face. He really isnβt aware how lethal his words are. How innocent, my Supremo.
"I-Iβm heading to class now,"
"I am dead serious. Everything is meaningless without you. Zein, darling? I want to dance with you in front of many people... itβs one of my dreams. Come on, I hope my dream comes true."
I walked away without looking back at Supremo, afraid that if I did, Iβd go back to him again and end up not making it to class. This is whatβs hard about meβI struggle whenever Supremo and I are apart.
Sigh.
I walked to my next subject with a smile when Nicky suddenly grabbed me. Fear quickly washed over me again.
What is it this time?
"Let me go!" I struggled, which only made him tighten his grip on my arm.
I couldnβt help but feel pain, especially when I felt his nails dig into my skin.
I could feel his anger, but why? What is this about now?
My frown deepened when I saw who was with Nicky.
They dragged me to a secluded place, and Nicky shoved me down roughly. I fell to the ground, where dry leaves were scattered everywhere.
I looked up again at the three people standing in front of me.
"What are you going to do to her?" asked the one wearing the red mask.
Raze? No. The fake Raze.
"She cannot attend Supremoβs birthday," Nazzer said coldly.
I wanted to curse and scream in frustration over something I couldnβt even understand. FUCK! I donβt want this! They canβt stop me. I donβt want to disappoint Supremo. No. That canβt happen.
"Why are you doing this?!" I shouted.
Nicky smirked. "Love has no place in this hell. Love is just a poison," he said.
"Poison?" I let out a short laugh at Nickyβs words. "If this really is poison, then when are you two going to die?" I asked, looking at him and Nazzer.
I felt Nazzer react to that, but Nicky kept smiling.
I know thereβs something between the two of them, something eerily similar to what Supremo and I have.
"Well, sad to say. It is not love, my dear."
I looked at Nazzer, who was staring at Nicky. I couldnβt help but smile faintly when I saw Nazzerβs eyes... full of hurt. Is there really nothing?
"We need to hide her," Nazzer said, looking at me. "Hide her from what Supremo cannot bear to see."
Fear gripped me again.
"No, please," I begged. I have to fulfill Supremoβs dream. I donβt want to disappoint him.
"No, you canβt do this," Raze said.
Nicky quickly pointed the tip of a nail at Raze, who went pale. No doubt, this really isnβt the real Raze. The real Raze wouldnβt be intimidated.
"Weβre not asking for your opinion," Nicky whispered to him.
Raze had no choice but to bite his tongue.
"Why wonβt you let me go to Supremoβs birthday?" I asked.
"You canβt... Supremo has something planned, and weβre going to stop it."
My brows quickly furrowed as a flood of questions exploded in my head. What?
"W-What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
They only smirked and forcefully tied my hands behind my back, my legs too. I struggled, but it wasnβt enough. I looked at Raze, but he avoided my gaze. Coward.
I couldnβt stop myself from saying a name. "Matt, please help me," I said.
I followed the movement of a man stepping out from behind a tree. I smiled bitterly. I knew it. Iβd felt his presence for a while now.
He stepped closer to us. I thought he was going to help me, but he just stood there.
"Why are you even trying to stop Supremo? I mean, can you even fight him?" Matt asked, laughing.
My eyes widened as Nicky thrust a nail in Mattβs direction. Matt just tilted his head, letting the nail miss him completely.
I gaped at what he did. So fast, I didnβt know Matt could move this quickly. He doesnβt even need to go full demon mode; he can fight just fine without taking it seriously at all.
"Shut up," Nazzer said sharply, clearly affected by what Matt said.
Matt looked at me and raised an eyebrow, almost scolding me to fight, but I couldnβt. They were too strong.
He shook his head, as if disappointed with my answer.
"I wonβt stop you, but make sure you donβt hurt her," Matt said, his tone laced with a threat.
All hope drained out of me when Nazzer lifted me up and slung me over his shoulder.
"A-Arenβt you going to help me?" I asked Matt.
He smiled at me. "No," he replied flatly.
He turned his back on us. "You wonβt be able to go to the birthday of someone important to you. Youβll ruin all his dreams. Youβll hurt someone who loves you deeply. Heβll be waiting for nothing. Is that the kind of person you are, Zein?"
We were already far from Nazzer, but I couldnβt shake off everything Matt had said. My chest tightened. No... I have to go. Supremo needs me.
I felt something injected into me by Nicky, which made me dizzy, but before I lost consciousness, I managed to smile.
Thank you, Matt.
