Hell University-Chapter 7 - 6: Secretary
Chapter 6: Secretary
Zein’s Point of View
We all gathered again in our dormitory, and everyone looked utterly exhausted.
"Did you manage to find anything?" Jerome asked as he drank some water.
"N-no. We got scared..." Mia said, and obviously scared. Our brows knitted at Mia and Vanessa.
"What happened? Are you guys okay?" I asked.
"Miss Leonora, the librarian... she spooked us.." Vanessa said.
"How?" Matt asked. We are now surrounding the two because fear was really evident in their faces.
"She asked us. The information we’d obtain would come at the cost of our permanent imprisonment in HU," Mia replied.
My throat ran dry after hearing her. While I know I’m already permanent here in HU. I’ve learned the one secret they’re desperately protecting. Shit!
"That’s also what the students have been telling us when we approached them." Dave said.
"You didn’t get any answer?" I asked.
Everyone shook their heads that made me pale. It’s just me. It’s just me out of all my friends who knew about the secret, and if ever, if it comes to that, I’ll be the only one left behind.
"How about you Zein? Did you get any answer?" Matt asked me.
I gulped and could feel my face heating up. No, I don’t want to, I don’t want them to worry about me, so I quickly shook my head.
It’s better if they don’t know. Nicky suddenly appeared in my mind. Was it true? That I’m already their target? But who is she referring to? I could feel fear creeping up through my system. I don’t want to die yet. What have I done to them?
"I know something. There’s one way to leave HU. The librarian told us earlier." Mia bravely exclaimed.
Everyone was so serious but I was still distracted by the fact that, whatever I do, they will not let me leave this place. Maybe... they’ll be the only ones who can get out, if it comes to that.
"What was it? She told you the way?" Dave asked.
Vanessa and Mia shook their heads before a grin appeared on their faces.
"We need to enter the rank in HU," Vanessa stated.
"Rank? You mean, in our classroom? Top achievers, like that?" Jerome asked.
"Not just in the classroom, but in the Top 10 ranking of HU as well, the one currently leading the entire school is Raze Silvenia," Mia said.
Raze Silvenia. The leader of DGW (Devil God Warrior), so he’s the smartest in the whole school? I haven’t seen him but I already admire him. As far as I know, students who like to involve themselves in fighting usually despise studying.
"This is the list," Vanessa showed us a complete list of the whole top ten rank, or also known as the highest 10.
Ace Craige is the second, the president. The third one is Nazzer Lumia, and the last one is Nicky. Oh, she’s also part of it.
"Nazzer Lumia. I think he’s the leader of Black Blood Gang," Dave uttered.
Nazzer and Raze, the leaders of the gang. How dangerous are they? I noticed that both gangs had gone silent these few days... silent but dangerous.
"Guys, we are safe as long as we don’t know anything. That’s why let’s try hard to get into the Highest 10." Vanessa suggested in which everyone agreed.
My mouth remained sealed. It’s saddening to think that even if I join the plan, I still wouldn’t be able to leave.
I decided to keep the information to myself, I don’t want to be selfish and drag them with me in my situation. I don’t want them to suffer too. It’s better if it’s only me.
Days had passed and everyone was busy preparing for the upcoming Acquaintance Party where the theme is masquerade.
Why do we need to wear masks? How can we know each other? Or maybe they’re hiding something behind all of this.
We’re currently here in the gymnasium where a general meeting about the party this coming Friday is conducted.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen." Madame Violet began, as usual, she was wearing all black.
It just seems like she’s always mourning.
My eyes caught sight of Ace talking to a boy who’s obviously shaking in fear.
"Shit, that’s his third warning." Someone in front of us whispered while looking at Ace and the boy they were referring to.
"That’s the last warning. He might as well be taken to the Dark Hell Jail," the other one added.
My brows are knitted. What kind of punishment awaits this guy in what they call Dark Hell Jail? Maybe death, but what kind of death?
"I know that you already know, this Friday is already the Acquaintance Party. And it’s a masquerade theme so all of you are required to wear one. Except red and black color." Madame Violet muttered.
My brows are knitted. Why can’t we use those colors?
"It’s because that color is exclusively for the gangs. Black Blood Gang members are for black and Devil God Warrior is for red."
I heard violent reactions from the students, but no one dared to oppose them. I knew that no matter what they did, they stood no chance, we were all just their puppets here.
"We’ll send what you’re going to wear to your dorms."
"And that Friday would also be called Free Bloody Night, a night when killing is strictly forbidden. Anyone who violates this rule will be punished by death."
Her tone grew more authoritative, it was threatening.
I guess no one will dare break the rules anymore. It’s the headmistress speaking up front, the current highest authority in all of HU.
"I would like to call Mister President Ace Craige here on the stage."
Ace went to the stage and took the mic from Madame.
"You will not see me on Friday but I’ll be watching you."
My heart skipped a beat when his gaze stopped on me, and then he smiled. It scares me.
"I.am.watching.you." He repeated with a clear emphasis, saying it as he stared into my eyes.
I rolled my eyes, does it look like I can kill? Duh...
•••
I was walking alone in the hallway because my genius friends are in the library doing advanced lessons. Don’t they feel sorry for me, knowing I might be left behind? But then again, they don’t even know.
"They’re hiring a new secretary? What happened to Fritzy?"
There were students who were crowding in front of the bulletin board and reading the new updates about the HU. I squeezed myself to in until I reached in the front.
"Wanted: Supreme Student’s New Secretary." I read.
My gaze dropped until I saw the requirements. There was only one, and it read:
’Must be brave enough to conquer death.’
That was the only requirement.
I almost laughed out loud after reading. Are they serious? Do they really think someone would want to be their secretary?
"Let’s go! They’re in the gym! Let’s try it!"
"I’m brave so I’m fit for it!"
Half of the female students ran toward the gymnasium, where the search for a new secretary would begin shortly. I could only shake my head, do they really want to be a secretary? Tsk.
"Go away! In the count of one..."
The crowd of gathered students split into two, creating a path down the middle. At the end of it stood a blonde woman, fair-skinned and undeniably beautiful.
"It’s Fritzy," one of them whispered.
Only then did I realize I was still standing in the middle of the path, making Fritzy raise an eyebrow.
"Aren’t you going to step out of my way?" In the blink of an eye, she was already standing right in front of me.
She wasn’t wearing a uniform. Her eyebrow was raised as she looked at me.
"Should I?" I asked like an idiot. She flicked her hair aside before sneering at me, the irritation on her face was unmistakable.
"You must be one of the noobs. I am the secretary here, Ms. IDontCareWhoYouAre." she stated which made me grin.
Her bitchy attitude made me so annoyed, and what she called me annoys me more. If I’m really close to dying anyway, then I might as well make the most of every moment I have left by standing up to demons like the one in front of me right now.
"Well, can’t you read? Or do you want me to read what’s written here in front of you?" I pointed to the bulletin board.
She’s not the secretary anymore. She doesn’t have the right to call herself one. She’s not anymore.
"That’s just a paper. I didn’t let go of the position." She firmly told me.
I smirked, then took the paper and crumpled it right in front of her. I heard whispers all around us. I can’t stand people who act like they rule everything.
"What are you doing?!" She asked me when I forced her to hold the paper I crumpled.
"Don’t whine at me. They already removed you, Ms.Fritzy IDontCareAboutYourSurname. Maybe you’re not just qualified."
Her eyes flared as she yanked my hair. I couldn’t hold back and pulled hers too. We ended up in a full-on hair‑pulling fight.
"Stop them!" I heard a shout from one of the students surrounding us but no one dared to do it.
A strong force suddenly shoved me away from Fritzy. My forehead hit something sharp, and it started bleeding. I felt the sting and the blood flowing down.
"You have no right to harm the Supreme Student Secretary!"
The fuming guy shouted at me. Fritzy dusted her hands before grinning at me. I tried to stand up but I still feel so dizzy from being pushed too hard by the guy. Is he crazy? It was that demon Fritzy who started the fight anyway! Ugh!
"I am the Supreme Student Vice President here!" He shouted but I didn’t care. I want to punch him in the face.
"Well, as if I care." I answered.
He clenched his fist. I went pale when he feinted a punch at me.
"Punch her, Mr. Onel Ty, and you, along with the former secretary, will receive warning number three from me.’"
Everyone froze after hearing that voice. Even with my vision blurred, I saw Ace behind Fritzy and Onel. He was squinting while smirking.
"M-Mr. President." The Vice’s fear of Ace was obvious.
So the idiot’s actually a coward.
"All of you take my command. I want this place to be clear in the count of three... One..."
All of the students ran off, and in an instant, only the four of us were left behind. Onel and Fritzy didn’t move an inch.
"A-Ace. This bitch must be the one to punish–"
"Two..." Ace continued counting which made Fritzy frown.
Before Fritzy turned away, she gave me a look that seemed to say we weren’t done yet. I am not scared, bitch.
Ace stared at me darkly. I went pale at the intensity of his gaze. He looked furious.
"Kill me now." I suggested.
"Well, not now, Ms. Shion. You need to heal first before facing your punishment."
I couldn’t do anything when he carried me. It feels so good.
"You need to heal, you are qualified to be my secretary."
I couldn’t speak anymore because I felt like I was running out of blood, and this brat wasn’t even speeding up, he walked as if he were in the middle of a runway show.
I ignored the whispers around us. What’s the big deal about the President carrying me? It’s his responsibility anyway, along with that jerk Vice. I swear, if our paths cross again, I’ll mess up his face. Ugh!
"Heal her, Nurse Cha." Ace ordered the young nurse, who seemed to be only 5 years older than us.
Ace laid me down on the hospital bed and left right away. Well, what was I expecting? That he’d stay and watch over me? Duh.
Nurse Cha wiped my wound with a soft towel before giving me first aid.
"What happened? Did Supremo do this?" She asked.
"If he were the one who did this, I’d probably be dead by now. But I’m still alive, right? So that means this was done by a weak dog," I snapped.
She chuckled at my response .
"You might end up with a scar on your forehead," she said.
"Don’t let that happen. Heal it, along with the scar."
I almost jumped in surprise when I heard Ace’s voice.
I glanced at him and, sure enough, he was standing there, leaning against the clinic door, watching us with a dark expression.
Did he hear what I said earlier? Well, it was true anyway.
"As you wish, Supremo," Nurse Cha replied.
I squeezed my eyes shut from the sting, and at the same time, from drowsiness. I didn’t sleep much last night. Since there are just too many things weighing on my mind.
"Can I sleep?" I asked in drowsiness. I yawned.
Nurse Cha chuckled before nodding her head. In that cue, I just found myself sleeping in tiredness.

Vanessa’s Point Of View
We heard about what happened to Zein and it’s already all over the campus.
"Why would the President do that? Gosh!" Mia almost fainted from worry and annoyance at the same time.
We’re currently in the clinic now and just waiting for Zein to wake up, who now still had the guts to snore as if nothing happened to her.
"Does he have any grudge against Zein?" Jerome asked. While Matt only had a little to no reaction as he sat on the sofa next to Jerome.
It’s already all over the campus that the President hurt Zein. I overheard from the students earlier that after hurting Zein, he brought her to the clinic. Is he crazy?
Soon enough, Zein woke up, saying she was hungry, and Dave was just right in time, arriving with food in his hand yet sweating heavily at the same time. Yikes?
I frowned as I stared at Zein with a bandage wrapped around her head as she devoured the food like she hadn’t eaten in months. Seriously?
"I starved from that!" She exclaimed after eating all of what Dave bought.
"How are you?" Matt asked, now obviously looking worried.
"I’m fine, thank you." Zein answered, and even had the nerve to grin.
"GHAD! Zein! What kind of nonsense have you done now?!" I snapped.
With our group of friends, she’s always the one who’s getting into danger. She’s always brave and fierce, so if anyone who challenges her, she’ll always stand up to them, even cats, she fights them.
"Not me. It was that fucking Vice President who did it!’ Zein said irritably.
My brows knitted, "Vice President? We thought it was President Ace who did that to you? I asked.
It was her cue now to frown.
"It’s already scattered all over the campus," Mia added.
"Of course not! He’s even the one who helped me and brought me here. That Fritzy and Onel, they’re the ones who did this. UGH!"
Zein was able to attend our other classes. She wore that bandage over her head as if it was nothing.
We are currently in the middle of our lesson when a guy entered, which made everything stop.
"It’s Vice President Onel." One of my classmates whispered.
My eyes squinted. Zein was just about to stand up when I stopped her.
"Where is Zein Shion?" He asked. His eyes stopped at Zein beside me.
He walked towards Zein so Matt and Jerome stood up immediately, but Dave was still sitting.
"What?! You want more fights?!" Zein shouted.
But we were surprised when he kneeled in front of us.
"I am sorry for what I did. Please, forgive me. I was just startled." Zein’s jaw dropped because of what he did, and our classmates gasped.
"Miss Shion, please forgive me already. I still don’t want to die..." he added.
I looked at Zein who’s now seriously looking at the Vice President, he was still kneeling.
I couldn’t help but to admire Zein. What’s with her? Why did she make the Supreme Student Vice President kneel?
"Alright then, get lost." He quickly rushed outside as if he was too scared to even last long inside our room.
"Who is she?" One of our classmates asked.
"Why did the Vice kneel to her?"
Yeah, I wonder why...
