Chapter 7: Acquaintance Party

Zein’s Point Of View

I roamed my eyes around the whole Wide Space. It was twice the size of a football field. Darkness surrounded us, but the colorful light effects helped in lighting the area up. There was a party song blaring from the speakers that filled the place with noise.

I looked at my own gown that was sent yesterday by the Admin Office. I am in my purple gown. My purple mask covered half of my face.

"Whoa! It’s cool!" Matt praised our surrounding.

The place looks incredibly lavish. There were tables all around, and there was even a wide space that looked like it would be the dance floor in the center.

We sat at the sixth table. Matt, Dave, and Jerome wore blue masks. Mia’s was pink, and Vanessa’s was orange, and the colors match our outfits.

"Girls, don’t stray away from us, okay?" Dave reminded us.

"We still couldn’t be so sure of our surroundings even if it’s declared to be a Free Bloody Night, especially with the President not being around." Jerome added.

We only nodded. We’re not even planning to stay away, and as much as possible, we’re not planning to dance.

We were immediately served food. I only took a little because I was still full.

The party hasn’t started yet. And liquor isn’t prohibited here so a lot of the people are already drinking. And we wouldn’t even know others because everyone is wearing masks.

"They are here." Vanessa whispered. We followed where she was looking.

My grip on my gown tightens and I could feel my palm sweating.

Everyone fell into silence and only the party music filled the whole space.

"Black Blood Gang," I whispered. They were all dressed in a black formalwear along with their black masks. But the man leading them stood out the most, his eyes through the mask were serious, his aura was very cold.

My attention was drawn to the only woman in their group who’s clinging to Nazzer’s arm. That’s Nicky for sure.

"That red hair." Mia whispered, referring to the guy beside the leader (maybe). Its hair was red.

"He was the one I saw before I saw Rouge Silvenia’s lifeless corpse." Mia whispered again.

My heart pounded even harder when their leader, Nazzer Lumia, looked toward our table. But I knew he wasn’t looking at me.

By my count, they were all twelve. They took a seat at the table on the far left.

The pounding in my chest hadn’t even eased when the ones in red masks arrived, they were all dressed in a white formalwear.

"Devil God Warrior," Matt whispered.

The atmosphere grew tenser. The one leading them caught my eye. He didn’t even glance at us. Just like Nazzer, his aura was icy cold.

"Raze Silvenia," I whispered.

There were twelve of them as well, and they sat at the far end of the Wide Space on the right.

After a while, the music quieted down a bit, and someone I guessed was the emcee stepped up. It was Fritzy, I knew it. That bitch.

"I am Fritzy Saldivar, and before we start, it’s really an honor for me to introduce the Admins behind the Hell University." She began.

My jaw dropped as the luxurious cars began to arrive one by one. The atmosphere grew even heavier.

I heard several violent reactions around me, and gasps of praises for the luxurious cars parking on the side.

So they actually have cars? What for? Just to make things more intense or something? I just rolled my eyes at the whole thing.

"The Vice President of Hell University. The one who created the only law of our university which is the Bloody Night. Let’s give him a warm of a clap, Mr. Francisco Augustine!"

We all clapped weakly before a man without a mask went out of the car. We all stopped when we saw his face.

"It can’t be," Mia whispered.

"I thought he is just..." Vanessa couldn’t finish what she was about to say because of too much shock.

The man who was smiling while walking on the red carpet towards the three chairs in the middle is no other than the creepy man who greeted us when we entered Hell University.

"So he’s the Vice President of HU. Mr. Francisco Augustine, huh?" I mumbled to myself.

The clapping stopped when he finally sat on the second chair. He smiled at everyone.

"The Head or Supreme Student Government. SSG Adviser, Ms. Katherine Velasquez."

We froze for the second time when we saw who was stepping out of a luxurious car.

"Ms. Kath..." Dave whispered.

Yes, it’s our physics teacher. Now I know why Celine said something about her being in the high position.

She sat down beside Mr. Fransico. There’s only one chair left, and I definitely know who that will be. The black lady.

"And last but definitely not the least. The highest among all in this university. Please, bow your heads as I introduce the headmistress, Madame Violet Rivera."

Fritzy bowed along everyone who’s here. We couldn’t do anything but follow what they were doing. We bowed our heads for the black lady.

I secretly glanced at her. As usual, she was wearing black. She’s already in her mid 50s but she really still looks pretty.

We raised our heads when she spoke. Fritzy sat at one of the tables.

"Good evening, student. Welcome to our Acquaintance Party. Let’s start."

The speakers around seemed to be turned all the way up, and it felt like our table was bouncing. The gangs cheered as they pulled the girls from other tables and made them dance.

My gaze accidentally landed on Raze who’s now surprisingly looking at me too. I thought he’d look away, but he smiled at me instead, which sent shivers down my spine.

I avoided my gaze. It felt like he was draining all my strength. He is a demon, they are demons.

"Ms. Shion?"

Asked the boy who approached me. My face crumpled. I may not know his face because of his green mask but I definitely know his voice.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Supreme Student Government Vice President Onel Ty?" I asked firmly.

He was smiling at me now unlike before.

"Congratulations." He greeted me which made me knit my brows. "You are the new Supreme Student Government Secretary." He added.

With all the things he was saying, my eyes just rolled.

"Should I be glad?" I asked, and that made his smile disappear. "Nah. Just give it to someone who’s desperate for that position." I glanced at the girl laughing with the others.

"But this is the President’s decision and sad to say, you can’t do anything about it. Plus, because of that position of yours, your rank will be on 9th. Yes, you must be glad, no one has ever done that, and the fact that Supremo is picky with his secretaries... Congratulations again."

My jaw dropped as I watched Onel disappear from my sight. Seriously?

"T-Top 9?" Vanessa couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it either.

I should be glad! I must be happy! But there’s something about this happening. This might just be the start of a new misery in my life.

"Zein! You are now in the Highest 10! You can now leave HU!" Mia exclaimed happily with her wide smile.

I didn’t know what pushed me to reach for the shot glass with liquor on the table for the boys. I squinted when the bitterness stung my throat.

"Don’t accept the offer..." Matt said seriously.

"Why not, Matt?! Zein will finally be free from this hell! She can ask for help from the authorities!" Jerome said, while Dave poured himself another drink and downed it in one go.

"Jerome is right, if Zein will be free, then she can ask for help!" Mia agreed.

I pulled Dave’s hands from reaching another drink and gulped it down directly. Matt immediately took the liquor away from me.

Shit! What they’re planning isn’t possible.

I leaned against the chair and fixed my hair. The alcohol feels so hot in my body.

"Being the Supreme Student Secretary is not easy! Everything has its own price. And it will even bring more harm to Zein." Matt insisted.

No one else could hear us because of the blaring music. The atmosphere grew even louder as the night deepened.

"Chill out! Alright?! Let Zein decide about it!" Dave suggested.

All of them looked at me and waited for an answer. I don’t know what to do. They won’t understand. Not for now.

In my desire to escape from their stares and questions, I stood up and squeezed myself in the middle of the dancing crowd.

I quickly made my way to the center, where even the slightest move could brush against someone. I closed my eyes as my vision spun. Damn that alcohol.

"What’s bothering you?" I felt a tingling as some guy whispered in my ear.

I tried to open my eyes but I couldn’t even see properly. My vision is still spinning and everything is chaotic.

"I heard about your promotion. And I think it was really a bad idea."

Shit! Who’s speaking?!

"Stay away from me!" I screamed.

I also stopped dancing. I feel like I’m going to collapse at any given moment.

"You should’ve been a corpse a long time ago, but he protected you, but sad to say, he can’t protect you forever. I told yah, you will also hold a knife, and I must say, you must hold one now before it’s too late."

Vanessa’s Point of View

We watched as Zein stood up and mixed herself through the sea of people dancing. She’s avoiding our questions. But why?

"What’s your problem Matt?! Are you purposely making Zein confused?" I snapped.

He shook his head and took the bottle of alcohol and stared at it.

"I’m only spilling the truth. That position isn’t easy to get, and she got it just so easily. Isn’t it weird?" he asked, making a point that couldn’t be denied.

We all remained in silence until suddenly Matt smashed the bottle of alcohol, startling us all.

"Shit!" Dave shouted in shock.

But before Dave could even stand up, he collapsed to the ground.

"Dave!" Mia screamed.

"Shit! Shit!" Matt continuously cursed. His hands were bleeding while holding a plastic that was inside the bottle.

He smashed the bottle once again to get it.

"W-What’s that?" I asked.

"A type of illegal drug," a woman beside us said. She was wearing a black mask, and I’m assuming she was a member of BBG.

"D-Drug?" I asked.

I froze in place the moment I realized someone had mixed it into the alcohol. Dave had drunk it, and now he was unconscious.

Matt ran quickly toward the dance floor.

"Damn it! Zein! She drank the liquor!" Jerome shouted.
