Hell University-Chapter 9 - 8: Danger
Chapter 8: Danger
Vanessa’s Point of View
I was just about to stand from my seat to follow Matt toward Zein, but before I could fully get up, Matt was already carrying her.
He walked gently while carrying Zein, but if you looked into his eyes, you could tell he could explode with anger at any moment. It was the first time I’d seen him like that.
"Take them to the clinic!’ I heard Mia shout from behind me.
A guard was already carrying unconscious Dave. I couldn’t help but notice how dry his skin looked.
Shit! This is bad!
"Everyone who’s not involved in the scene, you stay behind!" Madame Violet shouted with a smile plastered on her face. I clenched my fists. What kind of leader is she? She was even able to enjoy herself while two students were fighting for their lives. Shit
"I must say... the bloodletting is about to begin,’ whispered the person next to me while holding a glass of wine.
It was that same girl who told us that it was drugs. The only girl member in the Black Blood Gang.
"Shut up, bitch."
I left her there at our table and ran towards the clinic. My mind was bombarded with a lot of thoughts while running.
Who did that? What are they planning? Why did they do that? Are we his target? Shit!
I found Mia sobbing outside the clinic while Jerome was comforting her. Meanwhile Matt was staring in daze and seemed to be in deep thoughts.
"Who do you think is behind all of this?" I asked.
Matt looked at me, smiled bitterly and shook his head. What’s his problem?
"Who do you think, Vanessa?" He asked in return.
We were once again wrapped with silence. Mia slowly calmed down from sobbing.
"You can now enter..." the school nurse, Dr. Cha, greeted us.
We went inside and found Zein and Dave unconscious. The dryness from Dave’s skin disappeared but Zein’s had worsened.
"A type of illegal drug had been mixed into the alcohol. The dosage wasn’t a joke, which is why this happened. Dave would wake up soon, while Zein still needed to be observed," she explained to us.
I was really dumbfounded by what happened to them.
At the same time I’m deeply angry at whoever animal did this to them. They are evils.
"What bothers me is that why does it affect Ms. Shion more?" Dr. Cha knitted her brows.
"How did that happen? They were drinking the same thing." Mia asked.
Yes, that’s right. How did Zein’s situation worser? That seems wrong.
"I don’t know either, but maybe it’s because of how much they drank."
"Zein only drank two glasses! Dave drank much more! Why is it the opposite?" Jerome asked.
"I can’t answer that yet but we will conduct an investigation about this. Don’t worry, once we know the answer, we will inform you. Excuse me." She went outside the clinic.
Matt sat on the sofa with his head dropped while Mia and I examined the situation of the two.
"Whoever did this, I swear, I’ll never forgive them." Mia uttered in a very annoyed tone.
Zein’s lips had darkened up close. Her skin looked so drained of blood. I hope nothing bad will happen to her.
"Damn that nurse," Matt muttered while tugging at his hair.
I furrowed my brow. Why was the nurse to blame?
"Matt, the nurse did nothing wrong," Jerome corrected.
Matt laughed loudly. His laughter was chilling, he didn’t even sound like himself. It was as if something had possessed him. What was happening to him?
"Do you think she’ll help us?" He asked us. "No. Even if we die, she’ll do nothing." He said those as he was grinning.
He stood up and went closer to Zein. He stroked her hair. His face crumpled and clenched his fists.
"W-What do you mean?" Mia asked who looked so confused.
I’m confused either. Why is he blaming the nurse? She’s not at fault.
"She didn’t do anything. She didn’t even try to give them medicine nor cared for Zein and Dave." He answered.
I just realized that Zein should have had some equipment attached, there should have been oxygen supplying them, since it was obvious they were struggling to breathe, especially Zein. But there was none.
"Bitch." I muttered angrily and was about to go outside when Jerome stopped me.
"She must not know that we’re suspicious of her. She might do something to us, especially to Zein and Dave." He said, and I couldn’t deny that he had a point.
Mia couldn’t do anything but just sit on the sofa and crumple the pillow.
They’re evils. They are really trying us. They should be prepared if something bad happens to Zein and Dave. They should be really ready.
"We need to do something! Their lives are at stake!" I shouted.
We all docked when the window glass suddenly shattered. Jerome quickly went outside to check who did that while Mia and I couldn’t do anything but sit on the corner.
"I don’t want this anymore! I want to leave this place!" Mia shouted.
I hugged her and I could sense her fear. Her body was trembling.
Everything just feels like a bad dream. A nightmare. It was as if we were in a game full of puzzles, a game where we didn’t even know who the enemy was.
"There’s nothing." Jerome said when he returned.
I just noticed that Matt was holding a small bottle containing a blue liquid. It seemed to be glowing.
"What’s that?" I asked.
I left Mia for a while to get a closer look at the bottle.
"Is that what they threw? But what’s that for?" Jerome asked, unable to tear his eyes away from the bottle.
"They want to make Zein and Dave drink it." He tore his eyes away from the bottle and shifted his attention to us.
"Who? Wait! We don’t know who gave that to us! Something bad might happen to Zein and Dave!" I stopped him. It might make everything worse.
"We need to trust them. We need to trust. Zein and Dave’s lives are in danger. If we can’t aid them now... everything might... be really bad." Matt almost pleaded while explaining, seeking for someone to agree with him.
"Matt is right. It might be the cure." Jerome agreed.
I don’t know what might happen if they make Zein and Dave drink it, but if we don’t do something now, then we are really putting their lives on the very edge.
I only nodded. Matt smiled at me desperately at held my shoulder. "Trust me." He said before turning his back at me and went closer to Zein and Dave.
Matt made Dave drink first. Minutes later, we remained in silence as we observed the two. Our fear grew even more rapidly when nothing happened.
"W-Why nothing is happening?" Mia asked.
No one from us answered. I don’t want this. I don’t want to think of anything but I couldn’t help it, I couldn’t remove the fear and anxiety creepily wrapping my head.
We need to be strong. This is only the start.
We were relieved when Dave opened his eyes. He was catching his breath so we gave him a glass of water. He finished up three bottles, as if he hadn’t had water for days
"Dave, you’re awake." Mia cried and hugged Dave.
I couldn’t help but smile. We are all aware of Mia’s feelings for Dave. That’s why I know how scared she was when this happened.
"W-Where’s Zein?" Dave asked.
He turned his head beside him where Zein is currently lying unconscious. Why is that? Why is she not waking up yet?
We heard a vase shattering beside Matt whose head had dropped.
"No. Zein will wake up! Why are y’all acting like that?! Zein will open her eyes!" I don’t know what to do anymore.
I tried shaking her body but nothing happened. My tears began to fall from my eyes. This can’t be! Zein will not die!
"Why is it like that?! It’s affecting Dave but not Zein?!" Jerome couldn’t stay still.
Silence fell over us until we heard the door open. Out came a girl, who seemed a bit younger than us, probably.
"What are you doing here? Who are you?" Mia asked her.
"I’m not an enemy. I’m here to help you." She said.
She went directly to Zein’s side. We all looked at her and waited for what she’s going to do. Our eyes widened when she took out a knife. We were frozen in place when she raised Zen’s clothes and cut her a little bit in chest.
"What are you doing?!" Jerome yanked the girl’s clothes but she didn’t even have any reaction in her face.
"Ahh..." Zein’s slight reaction made Matt stand up.
Everyone sighed in relief.
"Now. Make her drink the medicine they gave you." The girl said, Jerome now released her from his grip.
Matt immediately went to Zein and made her drink the remaining liquid in the bottle. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"That is the Blue Elixir. It’s a type of medicine capable of cleansing the blood vessels of the heart. It didn’t work earlier because she was unconscious, so I had to force her to wake up," she explained.
I jumped in joy when Zein opened her eyes. Just like Dave, she was thirsty too.
My tears rolled down because of joy and could finally breathe properly now. I turned around behind me so I could thank the girl for helping us but she was already gone.
"Where is she?" I asked.
Everyone shrugged before smiling. Finally, Zein and Dave are safe. I am so grateful to everyone who helped us, but there’s really one thing I’m wondering about. The blue elixir only works if the person who drinks it is conscious. It didn’t work on Zein because he was asleep, but why did it work on Dave?
Is it possible that Dave was actually awake and didn’t really pass out?
How?
