Chapter 41: New Friends

As I sat in the classroom eating lunch with my classmates, the door suddenly swung open with a violent crash. A male student with red hair and a huge grin stepped inside, the emblem on his jacket—a two-headed snake—indicating that he was an Abnormal. He scanned the room as if searching for someone, and then his gaze locked onto mine.

"Are you the one named Sin Tenshi?.... Yes, it is you; I can tell." He hurried over to me, acting a little giddy. "Come with me, Sin. We have much to talk about," he said, grabbing my hand and pulling me out of my seat.

"Who are you?" I asked, retracting my hand.

"Just shut up and do what he says!" Another unexpected visitor entered the classroom. My classmates visibly recoiled at his presence, nearly jumping out of their seats.

"Rizor?" I mumbled, surprised by his sudden appearance.

"Listen, we have some important matters to discuss with you, so come along now," the red-haired boy said, gesturing toward the door.

Reluctantly, I left the classroom with them. We walked in silence toward the special building. Rizor walked beside me, clearly displeased, with his arms crossed and a threatening glare shifting between me and the red-haired boy in front. I kept waiting for them to attack me, but strangely, that didn’t happen.

We entered an empty classroom. Inside were four school desks arranged to face each other, and on the desks were what appeared to be school lunches.

"What is this? You plan on poisoning us?" Rizor asked sarcastically.

"What? Of course not! We’re all friends here, right? Come on, let’s have a seat."

"Who are you?" I interjected, cutting through their pointless banter.

"Who am I? I must say, it’s disappointing that you don’t know me, but very well. My name is Yuan Fairheart."

"Fairheart?"

"Yes, moron. He’s Katherine’s older brother—a third-year," Rizor said, then shifted his focus to Yuan. "You know, if you wanted to beat the crap out of him for what he did to your sister, there was no need to bring me along. Not that I wouldn’t enjoy watching."

"Oh, so that’s what this is all about. You want revenge for what I did to your sister. Fair enough. Why didn’t you just say so? There was no need to drag this out."

"Revenge? You’ve got it all wrong. The reason I brought you two out here is that I want us to be friends." Yuan replied

"Cut the crap!" Rizor shouted, visibly agitated.

"It’s the truth! I want the three of us to become the best of friends."

"Well, if that’s the case, then I’m leaving. I have no need for friends, especially with this guy or you for that matter. Oh, and don’t think I’ve forgotten about what happened at the tournament. You’ll get yours soon, I promise." Rizor said attempting to leave.

"I’ve been meaning to speak with you, Rizor," I said, blocking his path. "Class C—who gave you the right to take control? I’m the one who defeated their leader, so it belongs to me."

"Ha! Don’t make me laugh. The students would rather turn to someone like me than have you as their leader. You may be considered a hero in your class, but to everyone else, you’re a villain."

"Regardless of what they think of me, they belong to me."

"Hahaha! You guys are hilarious! See? We’re already getting along. We’re going to make great friends!" Yuan said, grinning from ear to ear.

"We’re not friends!" Rizor shot back. He turned his attention back to me. "We’re not done talking. Tell me what happened during the special training regimen—not the bullshit the school fed us. I want to know what really happened."

"I’m sure you’ve already heard. I got into an altercation with Katherine and Julius. There’s really nothing else to tell," I replied.

"Bullshit! There’s no way those wimps were able to take you down, even in a two-on-one competition. If Liam had been there, you’d definitely have gotten crushed, but he wasn’t. That means someone else kicked your ass."

"Really? And who do you think was able to beat me?"

"That’s a no-brainer. It was Liam, of course. He tracked you down and kicked your ass after he found out what you did to Katherine and Julius."

"You think Liam is strong enough to beat me?" I asked.

"Yes. I’ve fought both of you, and I’d say you’re pretty much equal. But something about him makes me think he’d win in a one-on-one fight."

"Liam? He’s the white-haired kid in Class A, right?" Yuan interjected "I don’t really pay attention to first-years, but I’ve heard of him. You know, Sin, the two of you are pretty similar—"

"That doesn’t matter!" Rizor interrupted. "What I want to know is if what I said is true. Did Liam really beat you?"

"Yeah, he did. I didn’t stand against him."

Hopefully, this will shift his attention to Liam.

"I knew it," Rizor said, his eyes flashing with conviction.

"Now that that’s out of the way, have a seat. We’re having lunch together." Yuan said.

"What? I’ve already told you, I’m not here to make friends."

"You don’t have a choice." His cheerful tone suddenly took on a threatening edge. "Or do you think you can beat me, a third-year, in a fight?"

"I don’t want any trouble with you Yuan."

"Then sit," Yuan commanded, turning his attention to me. "You too, Sin."

Truthfully, I didn’t want to make any more enemies at this school, so I sat down at one of the tables with the lunches. But then I noticed something.

"There are three of us, so why are there four lunches?" I asked.

"Because there will be four of us eating together, silly. The other person is running a bit late. But let’s not wait; let’s eat."

The Rizor and I sat quietly eating as Yuan rambled on about nonsense, until the door to the classroom opened and a female student entered. She seemed a bit older than I was. With white hair and delicate features, her citrus perfume filled the room as she walked in. The emblem on her Jacket, the same as mine.

"What took you so long, Ruby?" Yuan stood up to greet her. "Let me introduce her. This is Ruby; she’s a second-year in Class A. She’ll be the fourth member of our friend group."
