Hellhound At Supernatural Academy-Chapter 42: Fallen
Her face lit up as she rushed to wrap her arms around me and Rizor, who were seated together.
"So, these are the two first-years you’ve been rambling on about? Well, it’s nice to meet you! I’m your big sis, Ruby. How do you do?"
"Can you please take your hands off me?" Rizor said, his voice growing increasingly irritable.
"This one’s a bit feisty, isn’t he? Well, that’s fine; you’ll warm up to me sooner or later," she said, giving him a wink.
"What took you so long? You should’ve gotten here a while ago."
"Sorry about that; I had to deal with another one," she answered vaguely as she took the empty chair beside Yuan.
"Again? Which poor sucker’s heart did you break this time?"
"It was Jaccob. Ugh, why can’t I find anyone good enough?"
"That’s because you keep turning them down. Just go out with someone already, or they won’t stop pestering you."
"What?! I can’t do that! I want a man who can tame me."
"Then forget it; you’ll remain a virgin for the rest of your life unless Sin here is up for it."
"No, thank you."
I don’t know what "taming" her entails, but whatever it is, it sounds like a bother.
"What even is this? Why am I sitting here listening to you guys talk nonsense?" Rizor roared, slamming his fist on the table.
"Did you not tell him, Yuan?" Ruby asked, unfazed by Rizor’s outburst.
"This one is a bit slow; bear with him."
"I would also like to know the point of this, if you don’t mind," I spoke up. "Why are we here having lunch with you guys?"
"Because we’re friends, silly! Isn’t this nice?" Yuan answered, still smiling. "From now on, we’ll eat lunch together in this classroom. This class belongs to Class 2-D, so I’ll let them know we’ll be using it as our lunchroom, so they’ll have to find somewhere else to go."
They wanted to be friends with me? It wouldn’t be bad to have some more allies. I’m seriously lacking in the friends department. Who knows? Having friends in an upper class might come in handy. Plus these two have a certain air about them.
"That sounds like an excellent idea. We can use this room as our personal base. After school, we can walk home together, go shopping, or even see a movie," Ruby said, sounding excited.
"Look here, you—"
"If you guys are really fine with it, I’ll join your friend group," I said, cutting Rizor off.
"What? You can’t be serious about hanging out with these two weirdos! Have you lost your mind? I don’t care if they are upperclassmen; I don’t want anything to do with you guys, understand?"
"Just think about it for a second. Being part of this group means you and I will be allies. That means we can work together to crush the other classes. And with these two by our side, we can expand to the upper classes."
Rizor paused for a moment, considering what I said.
"I never thought of that. You might be right."
"Why does it sound like you two are planning world domination?" Ruby asked, giving us a scrutinizing look. "Anyways, I don’t really pay much attention to the politics that take place at this school."
"That’s because you’re an outcast," Yuan said.
"Ugh, so are you! You’re an even bigger outcast than I am."
"Will you two shut up? Fine, I’ll join your group. But if you guys get too annoying, I’m leaving, got it?"
"Great!" Ruby said, clapping her hands together. "We should come up with a cool name for ourselves."
"That sounds like a great idea. How about ’Yuan Group’? It has a nice ring to it."
"What? You can’t name our group after yourself! It has to be something cool that all of us can relate to. Sin, do you have any ideas?"
"Nope."
"Rizor, how about you?"
"This whole concept is stupid. Why the hell do we need a group name?"
"Because it sounds cool! Come on, think of something!"
"Okay, fine," Rizor relented. "How about ’Fallen’?"
"Fallen?!" Yuan repeated, sounding a bit shocked.
"I kind of like it," Ruby said. "Don’t you like it, Yuan?"
"You don’t get it. ’Fallen’ is the name of an old government special division group. Their members were so strong they wiped out entire countries. It was mostly comprised of different types of spirits. If I’m not mistaken, one of their members had the last name ’Starborn,’ am I right?"
"Yeah, he was my grandfather," Rizor said, trying to hide his pride.
"Really?! Then it’s perfect! From now on, we’ll be known as ’Fallen.’ What do you think, Sin?" Ruby asked excitedly.
"It’s fine, I guess."
"Then it’s settled."
After lunch, I headed back to my classroom, finished my classes for the day, and then made my way back to my dorm room. I got on the elevator and pressed the button for the third floor. When the door opened, I saw a figure standing by my door, holding something. A weapon, maybe? Planning to make my escape, I pressed the button for the first floor. That’s when she saw me.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" she shouted, rushing after me and sticking her hand in the elevator just before the door closed. She stared at me intensely, her hand trembling with anger.
"Ava?" I broke the ice. "Are you heading down? Sorry, I didn’t hear you calling; otherwise, I would’ve held the door for you."
"Stop lying! You’re clearly avoiding me, aren’t you?"
"No, it’s just that things have been tense between our classes and—"
"Whatever, I don’t care. I just came here to give you this."
She handed me a small box she had been holding. The box featured an image of a pink elephant lifting weights and read, "Arrax: Fast Relief for Your Worst Days!"
"Is this cold medicine?" I asked, a little confused.
"Yeah, you were in the hospital, and I was a little worried."
"Pff. This is cold medicine. I had a concussion. I don’t think this would have done much to help me."
"How was I supposed to know that? Sarah stopped me from visiting you at the hospital. If Liam hadn’t stopped me, I would have... Anyway, that’s all I came here to give you."
"Is this really all you came here for? Aren’t you mad about me setting you up against Liam and then taking off by myself to fight his teammates?"
"I was angry at first, but when I heard you got injured, I just... I don’t know. I was happy to see you this morning, but then you had to run off, and then you disappeared during lunch. Anyway, I’ll be on my way," she said, turning to leave.
To be honest, I was shocked. Was she really worried about me, or was it a trick? No, I didn’t think so.
"Have you had dinner yet?"
"No, I’ll grab something at the—"
"Have dinner with us tonight."
