Her Dark Desires-Chapter 82: He Is Dying
"Mom, have you seen Zach?" Eliana asked Charlotte when she could not find Zach in the hall again.
Charlotte, who was busy talking to a businessman, excused herself and replied to her daughter-in-law, "I think he went to the garden or something. Zach isn’t a fan of parties, but what is up with you two? Don’t tell me is nothing."
"It’s nothing. We just had a little argument, and that’s all."
"No matter how little the argument is, don’t let it pass tonight. Little things can become big in just a night." Charlotte advised and left Eliana to go find Zach.
True to his mother’s words, he was in the garden. Eliana sighed in relief and asked "Why are you ignoring me? It’s not like I suggested a wrong thing."
Zach turned to look at her and said "Do you want us to have this conversation here?"
"Yes, I want us to have this conversation here and right now."
"Ok, then answer me this, why did you go to the hospital without me? We agreed to do it together, including visits to the hospital but you went alone and came back suggesting we find a surrogate."
"And I said I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have gone without you but I just needed to know. I just wanted to know if I could give you a child and although I can’t give you one naturally, we can have one through surrogacy." Eliana said closing the gap between them.
"I don’t want a child, Eliana!"
"That’s not true?"
"I do not want a child, so let’s end this topic."
"That isn’t true, I know you want one. What I don’t understand is why you are so against the idea of us having one through a surrogate, people do it all the time."
"Those people are not me and you. I know you enough to know that having a child through a surrogate would not quench your desire to have one growing in you. I am not against the surrogacy idea but let’s not do it right now. Baby, we don’t have to deal with it right now. We are okay the way we are, we are happy. I am happy, or are you not?" Zachary asked as he cleaned a tear that escaped her eyes.
"I am happy but I wanted to feel a part of you in me, Zach." Eliana’s eyes became teary as she found it difficult to control her emotions.
"I know, baby, I know, but right now, you are all I need, and when we are ready to have a child, then we can consider surrogacy. Okay?"
Eliana nodded "Okay."
Zach kissed her forehead and pulled her into his arms. To be honest, he was okay with not having a child as long as Eliana was with him, but sometimes a part of him thinks back to little treasure; if he was here with them, Zach knew that he would have dedicated his life to that little boy.
Now, it was just the two of them, and perhaps a day would come when they would be ready to take other options, but he knew neither of them was ready. Zach wasn’t ready to see another woman carry his child in her womb, and Eliana wasn’t ready to let go of her dream of carrying his child. He knew that a day would come when both of them would be ready, but that day was just not today.
.....
Back inside the hall, Amber stood in the corner and just kept drinking while her husband went into the crowd to socialize. No one bothered to approach her and most people treated her as if she did not exist.
There was once a time when everyone wanted to be close to her, but now, it was as if people were avoiding her. As if she was a plague and anyone who bothered to start a conversation with her did not do so without first looking at her with sympathy.
But she didn’t care, a year of living like this had made her become used to it, but that did not mean she planned to live as Nolan’s wife forever. Amber had her plan to get out of this life, and now that her father had started a new company that was doing very well, she knew her time in this hell would soon be over.
When she saw her father and Eliana talking, she felt scared that Henry was going to make Eliana his successor, but when she saw the anger in Henry’s eyes after Eliana left, she knew that was never going to happen, and another thing she noticed was the tension between Eliana and Zach. She sincerely hoped that whatever misunderstanding they had would lead to them separating.
But then again, what is it that would make the best couple in Rosehill City argue? Amber thought to herself and became curious when Eliana left the hall to the garden, so to satisfy her curiosity, she followed her and heard their entire conversation.
"So Eliana can’t have a child for Zach," Amber whispered excitedly to herself. The heavens must finally be punishing her for taking away Zach from me.
"I wonder how many people know of this. This news is too juicy to keep to myself. The world should know that famous model Eliana Sanders is a barren woman." Amber excitedly said and slowly walked out before she would get noticed.
...
Eliana and Zach returned to the party when she suddenly received a message from Jason saying "I need to talk to you, please meet me at the rooftop."
"Is everything all right?" Zachary asked when he saw a frown on her face.
"Everything is fine but Jason sent me a strange message asking me to meet him at the rooftop."
"Don’t tell me you are thinking of going?"
"I...I think I should just go and see what is up with him, maybe he wants to say something important."
"Eliana," Zachary called out in warning.
"Fine, I won’t go," Eliana said and texted it to him. Immediately after she sent him that text, a girl ran into the hall and shouted.
"Call an ambulance!"
Eliana’s eyes widened as she recognized the girl. Why was her assistant here and shouting to call her ambulance?
"Leah, what’s wrong? Why do you need an ambulance?" Eliana asked, seeing the girl’s disheveled state.
Leah’s frantic gaze locked onto Eliana’s."Please save him, he is dying."
"Who is dying?"
"Jason!"
