His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 211: It’s Time to End This
The old lady’s intention was clear: Ethan Sinclair was already married, and Kate Lynch should stop dreaming about him.
Angus Lynch’s face turned extremely unpleasant; he looked down on Quentin Sinclair, who was an illegitimate child.
But if he directly refused, then Kate Lynch’s reputation, as well as the relationship between the Lynches and the Sinclairs, might come to an end. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Thinking it over, although Quentin Sinclair was Marcus Sinclair’s illegitimate child, he was still a son of the Sinclair Family.
For the sake of the Lynch Group, he had long wanted to form an alliance through marriage with them. Since Ethan was already unattainable, if Quentin treated Kate well, it was reluctantly acceptable.
With this in mind, Angus Lynch nodded, "If the two children like each other, then naturally it’s possible."
Kate Lynch never expected Angus Lynch to agree with the old lady. She knew Angus had weighed the pros and cons before saying this, but she still felt very upset, biting her lip tightly as tears streamed down.
"I..."
"Sorry, Grandma, I can’t marry Kate because I don’t love her."
Just as Kate Lynch was about to speak, Quentin Sinclair interrupted her.
Everyone looked incredulously at Quentin Sinclair. Ethan Sinclair watched him with a cold gaze full of chill.
Marcus Sinclair yelled at Quentin Sinclair, "Quentin, what nonsense are you talking?"
Damned Quentin Sinclair, such a great opportunity to marry into the Lynches, and he didn’t want it.
The Lynch Family’s development might not be as strong as before, but still greater than most. He was restricted by Ethan in the Evercrest Group, and an alliance with the Lynch Group could only benefit them.
Was this brat trying to drive him crazy?
Quentin Sinclair naturally understood what Marcus Sinclair was thinking and looked tenderly at Stella Lynch.
Stella Lynch was confused.
Then, everyone heard Quentin say, "The one I love is Stella. Last night I was drunk, and since Kate and Stella look so much alike, I mistook Kate for Stella."
Stella Lynch was bewildered, like someone who suddenly found themselves involved in the gossip.
Afterward, Quentin looked deeply at Kate Lynch. "Kate, I’m truly sorry about last night—I mistook you for someone else. Whatever compensation you want, I can give."
Feeling uneasy under Quentin’s gaze, Kate Lynch promptly and generously shook her head. "Stella and I are sisters, we naturally look alike, and mistakes are inevitable. Fortunately, Ethan arrived in time, so nothing happened. I don’t blame you."
Kate’s words had multiple implications.
First, she followed Quentin’s lead in saying she and Stella looked alike, redirecting focus onto Stella, making everyone believe Quentin truly made a mistake.
Second, she let everyone know that she was with Ethan last night. Even if something happened, it was between her and Ethan, not Quentin.
Third, she magnanimously forgave Quentin, showing everyone that even if she suffered a great grievance, she remained pure and kind.
Nobody expected things to turn out this way, especially not Stella, who looked angrily at Quentin, exasperated, "Are you crazy? Didn’t you say you found me annoying and didn’t like talking to me? How could you like me?"
Quentin walked over to Stella, smiling slightly, "I was too embarrassed to speak to you. I approached your sister just to get closer to you. It’s rare to have so many elders present, so I want to tell you, Stella, I like you."
Stella was utterly bewildered—what the heck?
Wasn’t Quentin a toady for her sister? How could he like her?
Besides, she didn’t like Quentin at all!
Before Stella could speak, Marcus laughed heartily, "Ah, it seems there was a mix-up. Quentin, as a son of the Sinclair Family, you should express your feelings if you like someone—keeping it hidden is no fun."
Quentin nodded, "I know, Dad. From now on, I’ll work hard to pursue Stella."
Faced with this, the Lynches had little to say.
Even though Angus Lynch knew it was Ethan who was with Kate last night, it was inappropriate to mention it at the Sinclairs’. After all, Ethan was married, and any misstep could paint his daughter as an interloper in someone else’s marriage.
Few were interested in the truth of the matter. Everyone just wanted to know how much benefit they could gain from this incident.
Marcus intended to form an alliance with the Lynches, whether it was Kate or Stella; as long as it was a daughter of the Lynches, it didn’t matter.
So, he eagerly went to find Angus Lynch once they stepped outside.
Kate Lynch didn’t get what she wanted, naturally feeling discontent.
After Ethan had escorted her out, she said sorrowfully, "Ethan, thank you for what you did last night and today. Without you, I wouldn’t know what to do."
Ethan appeared somewhat distracted and gave Kate a faint reassurance, "Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone harm you."
Recalling something, Kate deliberately said, "I initially thought Kiana and Quentin had conspired against me, but it turned out Quentin mistook me for Stella—no wonder he kept calling ’Stella’ when he brought me to the room last night."
"Hmm, you didn’t sleep well last night. Go home and rest early."
Kate nodded, reluctantly departing from The Sinclair Estate.
Returning to the living room, Ethan saw that both Kiana and the old lady were gone.
He asked Nanny Chapman, "Nanny Chapman, where are Grandma and Kiana?"
"The Young Madam said she had something to say to the old lady alone, so they went to her room."
Ethan’s expression grew increasingly grim.
Meanwhile, in the old lady’s room, Kiana helped the old lady sit on the couch and then suddenly knelt before her.
The old lady was taken aback and immediately tried to pull Kiana up, "Hey Kiana, what... what are you doing?"
Kiana pried away the old lady’s hands and kowtowed three times in front of her.
Then she slowly gestured, "Grandma, thank you for fulfilling my wish of marrying Ethan Sinclair and being his wife for three years. Thank you for trusting and supporting me, letting me feel an unprecedented warmth."
Tears streamed down Kiana’s face uncontrollably. The old lady looked at her, as if foreseeing something, and sighed gently, "Stand up."
Rising, Kiana hugged the old lady tightly. After letting go, she slowly gestured, "I once thought that if I worked hard enough and loved Ethan enough, one day he’d love me. But now I’ve realized I was terribly wrong. These three years were a marriage borrowed time; it’s time to end."
The old lady truly felt for Kiana, but emotions can’t be forced. If they were bound together for life, it wouldn’t benefit anyone.
