His soul-Chapter 128: Another sadness
Francia froze when she saw Gina’s new car, after almost a week of not coming to work suddenly Gina came to work driving a very expensive black Porsche.
"You’re making fun of me, aren’t you, Gina?" asked Francia curtly.
"Insinuating what? Don’t talk nonsense," Gina answered slowly while wearing an apron.
Francia immediately raised her hand and pointed at Gina’s new car parked in front of the shop. "That sports car, you intend to make fun of me with your new car right?!"
"Why are you doing this? Why are you driving that car, not seeing each other for a week you’re acting really weird. You’re not pregnant, are you?"
Francia pursed her lips, she quickly followed Gina who was walking towards the kitchen. Currently, Francia already has a permanent chef who works in the shop, so Gina’s task is now very light because she only serves buyers without having to cook.
"Don’t talk yet, I’m bringing chicken," said Gina quickly holding Francia who was about to speak.
"Need my help, Gina?" asked Roby the chef.
"Nope, I can do it myself," Gina answered briefly as she continued to walk towards the window to tidy up the chickens she was carrying on a large tray.
Francia, who couldn’t bear to see Gina struggling, finally helped her by holding the tray with both hands when Gina was about to start putting the fried chicken into the previously cleaned display case.
"Thank you boss."
Francia pouted. "You’re the one who deserves to be the boss here."
"Gosh, Franciaaa....."
"What? Did I say something wrong?"
Gina put the empty tray she was holding onto the table and immediately led Francia to sit down to the empty chair, Gina knew Francia would continue like that if she didn’t give an explanation.
"Ok, what do you want to know?" Gina asked quietly.
"Everything, starting from how you got the cut on your forehead and the whereabouts of that luxury car," said Francia curtly as she folded her arms across her chest.
Gina took a deep breath while shaking her head looking at Francia who was staring at her without blinking, because she couldn’t help it anymore, finally Gina recounted how she got a tear on her forehead. Francia was seen hitting the table many times when Gina said the name Vanessa, the crazy woman who she named Medusa, really matched the nickname she gave.
"And that Medusa got worse after you got the new car?" asked Francia annoyed, interrupting Gina’s words, she was fed up when Gina again mentioned Vanessa’s name.
"Yes."
"And you still survive in that house?!"
"That’s my house, Francia. Where am I going?"
"Jesus...you can live wherever you want, Gina. I can help you find a place to live, if you want you can live with me. I’m sure Bela will be happy if you stay with us."
Gina shook her head. "No, I can’t leave the house right now. There’s still a lot I want to know."
"What else do you want to know? Don’t you already know your stepmother’s real face?"
"A lot, Francia. Besides that there is my biological father, I can’t let him live alone with Vanessa and her children. Moreover, my father had a heart attack, I have to be careful in what I do. I’ve lost my mother and grandmother, I don’t want to lost my father again, Francia. Not for now," Gina answered at length, her eyes welling with tears as she spoke.
"Okay, I understand, but you have to be careful. That woman will definitely do even more crazy to hurt you, you can’t be careless, Gina," Francia said softly while squeezing Gina’s hand tightly.
"Yeah I know, you don’t have to worry."
Francia smiled, she just removed her hand from Gina’s when there were several customers who came. Gina quickly went back to the cashier’s desk to continue her work. As long as Gina serves Francia’s customers, she doesn’t take her eyes off Gina, she feels sorry for Gina who has to live with her very crazy stepmother.
Gina could not say the real reason she stayed in the house, the conversation with her grandfather two nights ago made Gina inevitably have to stay at the Sanders family’s house. Even though she was still very angry with her grandfather, Gina couldn’t refuse the old man’s request, especially when she spoke, her grandfather shed tears.
"Give me a chance to see you grow up in this house, Gina. At least when I meet Sandra up there I’m not too ashamed of her, at least I can tell her that I once gave my love to you, Gina."
The words that Yohanes Sanders said with tears replayed in Gina’s memory, the old man even kissed both of Gina’s hands while talking. In a state not yet 100% healed the man spoke with Gina until almost morning, Yohanes Sanders apologized to Gina many times for his selfish actions 19 years ago. Gina, who was initially annoyed at the man as she recalled how she and her mother had been neglected, finally melted when she heard Yohanes’s apology.
All the hatred that filled Gina’s chest since childhood finally faded when the grandfather touched her face with his wrinkled hand. That man’s cry when he touched her injured forehead made the wall of hatred that had been standing firmly in her chest shattered instantly. Gina couldn’t be angry anymore, she even cried when her grandfather burst into tears again when he said her mother’s name.
Gina wiped her tears when she remembered the conversation with her grandfather two nights ago, her chest felt more relieved now when she chose to forgive all of her grandfather’s mistakes.
While serving a customer suddenly her smartphone in her trouser pocket vibrated, at first Gina chose to ignore the incoming call. However, because her cellphone wouldn’t stop, Gina finally chose to reach for her cellphone and accept the incoming call.
Gina’s face immediately went white when she received an incoming call from her father, Francia who happened to be standing beside her became confused.
"What’s the matter, Gina?"
"I have to go to the hospital, Francia," Gina said hoarsely. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Hospital? Why do you have to go to the hospital?" asked Francia confused.
Gina’s tears fell upon hearing Francia’s question, her tongue was numb. She couldn’t speak anymore, Gina was too shocked to open her lips. Realizing that something was wrong, Francia grabbed the cell phone that Gina was still holding, her eyes widened when she read the message Julian had sent to Gina.
"I’ll take you to the hospital, I know where the hospital is," Francia said quietly with teary eyes.
Gina nodded her head, in a hurry Gina removed the apron that was attached to her body and immediately threw it on the chair behind the cashier counter.
"Give me your car keys, I’ll drive," said Francia again as she raised her hand.
Gina’s heart was beating very fast at this moment, the overwhelming fear suffocating her chest again. Gina wasn’t ready to lose again, not when she just got close to her grandfather.
