The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 112: Guilty Conscience
Naturally, this test had to be conducted in front of the entire class. As a result, the day’s schedule was adjusted. The usual seven class periods and one study hall were reallocated, with teachers from various classes coordinating to each take a period. When all was said and done, this actually added two periods to the day.
When the bell for the second period rang, Juliana Taylor walked into the classroom and said, "Regarding the recent exam, I know some students in our class have reservations about Vera Xavier. Some have even sent anonymous letters to the principal’s suggestion box. Therefore, after discussing the matter with the principal and the other subject teachers, we have decided to create a pop quiz for Vera. Of course, the rest of you are welcome to take it as well."
After she finished speaking, she glanced at Elise Langdon and Cara Preston. Seeing the triumphant look on Elise’s face, she immediately understood who was behind the so-called anonymous tip.
’She truly detested their petty schemes.’ She turned to Vera Xavier and said, "Vera, do you have any objections to this?"
Vera had guessed yesterday that Elise Langdon and Cara Preston wouldn’t let this go, so she wasn’t surprised to hear Juliana Taylor’s words. She said confidently, "Of course not. I’ll go along with the teacher’s arrangement."
Juliana Taylor nodded. Elise Langdon raised her hand, then stood up and said, "Ms. Taylor, I have an objection!"
Juliana Taylor was genuinely annoyed with Elise Langdon by now, but she asked patiently, "What is your objection?"
Elise Langdon declared loudly, "Vera is currently deskmates with the class president, and we all know the class president has the best grades in our entire class. During the test, who’s to say Vera won’t copy their answers? I suggest we move her desk up next to the podium. That way, she can’t cheat, and her score will be authentic and reliable!"
Juliana Taylor frowned. Vera said coolly, "Elise, don’t go too far."
"How am I going too far?" Elise sneered. "You wouldn’t dare refuse, unless you have something to hide!"
Vera looked at her and said, "I have no objection to moving to the front to take the test. But you’ve questioned my integrity so many times, so I have a demand for you as well. If I can prove my score is genuine, you must apologize to me."
"Fine!" Elise scoffed. "If you can really get a score like you did on the placement exam, I’ll even get on my knees and bow to you!"
"There’s no need for kneeling. We’re all classmates; let’s not be so dramatic," Vera said calmly. "You just have to stand at the school gate for three days holding a sign that says, ’Vera, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have doubted you!’ That’ll be enough."
Elise shouted, "Fine! But if you can’t score at that level, it means you cheated, and you’ll get the hell out of this school immediately!"
"Deal!" Vera nodded.
Elise said triumphantly, "Ms. Taylor, fellow students, please bear witness for us!"
Juliana Taylor disapproved of this kind of wager, but seeing the calm expression on Vera’s face, she thought it might be good to teach Elise a lesson. It might stop Elise from stirring up trouble at school all the time.
The other students in the class were just there for the drama, hoping things would escalate. They immediately cheered and agreed to be witnesses.
And so, the Language Arts test began.
Elise whispered to Cara Preston, "Cara, just you wait. I’m going to make a complete fool of Vera today and get her kicked out of this school!"
