His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 361: Fairytale Husband.
Chapter 361: Fairytale Husband.
True to Nicklaus’s words, the apples were ready the moment she walked out of the bathroom in her bathrobe.
She started at the nicely cut apples in a transparent-covered bowl for a moment and walked past it. Getting to her box Lukas helped her to bring it in, she locked her door and changed into a lacy nightie.
Done dressing up, she stared at the apples, and to her greatest surprise, she realized she no longer felt like eating them. No offense but the sight of it now disgusted her and upset her stomach.
She frowned slightly at her discovery. Tiredly, she took off her sleep footwear and climbed back on her bed to rest.
...
Meanwhile...
Back at the penthouse, Nicklaus freshened up and took his car keys. He walked out of the penthouse and zoomed off to the address that Lukas sent to him.
On his way, he stopped by a pharmacy and got her some stress-relief drugs recommended by the nurse for her.
He was tempted to call her but held himself back from doing so. He can’t afford to wake her from her sleep with a phone call.
Luckily, he found an open grocery store and stopped by for her. He made a little purchase and the lucky salesman who saw him recognized him immediately and could not help smiling at him all through the sale.
Nicklaus noticed this gesture and gave the man a slightly warm expression, "Here," he said dropping a bundle of a thousand dollar notes before the man.
The man’s jaw dropped open, "Sir_"
"Keep the change," Nicklais said to him and left the shop with the grocery bag.
Getting into his car, Nicklaus continued his journey and in the next twenty-five minutes, he got into the yard and packed his car in the garage.
He stood before the door and rang the doorbell after leaving the car. His impatient was extreme as he could not wait to give her the hug she wanted.
Downstairs, Jocelyn was surprised to hear the doorbell ring so late. She came downstairs for some snacks but hearing the doorbell, her feet changed direction from the kitchen to the living room.
She glanced at the wall clock first, it was past 1 a.m. and this caused her to lift her eyebrow warily.
Remembering Arissa has a mother who was an enemy at the moment, her body hair stood and she nervously rubbed her arms to calm down and not overthink.
She stood before the door and peeped at whoever would be there through the peephole and when she saw it was Nicklaus, her heart jumped into her stomach.
She relaxed and hastily reached for the keys.
Opening the door wide open for him to walk in, she tried not to appear nervous under his cold harsh gaze. She wondered how he could look at every other person this way except Arissa.
Nicklaus walked into the house and paused before the door as she closed it behind him. "I’m sorry about the disturbance but my wife doesn’t feel alright," he explained himself for appearing so early before their door.
Jocelyn’s jaw from to the floor. Arissa wasn’t alright? "Oh! That’s fine," she shrugged her shoulders and imagined what Nicklaus might have done if she wasn’t downstairs.
Lukas! Right, he would have called Lukas to open the door for him, she thought.
Nicklaus strolled further into the house, "She feels tired," he informed as if he read Jocelyn’s questioning thought, and Jocelyn was finally able to swallow her saliva. She thought he spoke about something more than the tiredness she complained to them.
"The kitchen, please,"
"It’s that way," Jocelyn replied and that was when she saw the grocery bag he came in with.
Getting into the kitchen, Nicklaus dropped the bag on the kitchen island. After a small search in it, he brought out milk from it.
Jocelyn waited for a short while and when Nicklaus did not say a word to her and went on doing his thing, she returned to where the keys were hung and got Arissa’s room spare key for him.
"Umm, Nickalus," she moved towards him and placed the key on the kitchen counter, "This is for her room. I checked on her before coming here but I couldn’t get in because she locked her door so I thought I should give you this rather than letting you disturb her. Her room is the first room you’ll see after getting to the hallway."
Nicklaus turned away from the milk he was heating and glanced at the keys. "Okay," he gave her a one-worded reply and turned back to the milk.
Jocelyn nodded and picked up the snacks she came for from the fridge and returned to her room. She has always imagined that fairytale husbands exist only in novels.
Who would have thought her friend’s husband would be one of them? The fact he rushed over for a minor tired feeling and even spared some moment to heat milk for her friend gladened her heart.
For once, she felt like she should appreciate Arissa’s parents. They might not be the best of parents, but they were the best matchmakers she has ever come across and she would forever thank them for finding Arissa happiness for her.
Nicklaus finished preparing the milk. When he was done, he poured it into a mug and went straight to the room Jocelyn conveyed.
Silently and carefully, not to wake her up, he opened the door and walked in. When he found her fast asleep, he smiled softly and closed the door behind him.
He walked towards her lampstand to place the milk mug on it. He caught sight of the untouched apple and he nodded in understanding. He had already guessed she wouldn’t touch it.
He placed the mug beside the apple bowl and stood to watch her. Barely a minute later, the smile on his face was wiped off when he saw her struggle in her sleep.
