His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 362: In The Middle Of The Night.
Chapter 362: In The Middle Of The Night.
The flowing wedding gown was beautiful. Everything was perfect, even nature smiled at them. Arissa smiled as she walked down the aisle holding hands with Mr. Stephen.
She fixed her eyes strictly on Nicklaus and her smile turned more wide and more beautiful. It was her day, their day.
Finally, the day of their wedding has arrived. The day she would finally make her wedding vows before God and man have arrived but everything changed when suddenly, the sound of a high-pitched scream escaped the lips of someone from the last row of the seat.
Arissa turned in the direction of the scream in shock and when she saw what happened, her legs trembled and she tripled on her once-white but now bloodied gown.
Right before her eyes, the bodies of the smiling faces who came to attend her official union with Nicklaus lay on the floor in the pool of their blood.
A scream left her lips when she saw Adele’s dead body before her staring at her with open eyes. She turned towards Nicklaus only to find him lying on the floor like the others in the pool of his blood.
"No!!!!" Arissa screamed from the dream and back to reality. She sat up with a strong force and Nicklaus rushed to her side.
Sweat heavily poured down her body and she spaced out staring at a distance. She did not even notice Nicklaus hold onto her shoulder.
Nicklaus shook her body when he felt her so stiff, "Arissa? Hey!" He reached for her face and forced her to look at him.
Nicklaus’s breathing fastened when he did not see any emotion reflecting on her expression. She looked traumatized, "I’m here now. Relax!"
Arissa blinked, "Nicklaus," she reached for his face and traced every angle of it. Placing a finger under his nose, she realized he was breathing and tears left her eyes.
She dragged him into a hug and wept, "Nicklaus,"
"Hey! Careful," Nicklaus cautioned. He hugged her back softly, trying not to stress her because of their sideways position.
Arissa stood up from the bed and sat on his lap, "You came," she muttered in surprise, still holding onto him strongly.
Nicklaus chuckled, "I did," he used his large palm to rub her back in a soothing manner to calm her slightly trembling body.
Arissa relaxed her head on his shoulder and more tears left her eyes, "Why did you come now? Is this morning?"
"It’s morning already and even if it’s in the middle of the night, I’ll arrive whenever you need me," he released a deep breath, fixed his hand under her lacy night, and rubbed her bare back to calm her down.
Arissa suddenly felt uncomfortable at the skin-to-skin contact. Her face twisted with discomfort and her stomach followed. The sick feeling got to her mouth.
She roughly climbed off Nicklaus’s legs, jumped out of bed, and rushed towards the bathroom. Nicklaus frowned when she did that.
He followed behind her only to find her bent over the poo seat and throwing up. "Arissa," his frown tore off and his emotions spread all over the place, "Are you sick?"
Arissa raised her face from the poo seat and held her hair up. The urge to throw up rushed forward again and she bent over and continued from where she stopped.
Nicklaus took a step into the bathroom and the second Arissa heard his footsteps, she raised her hand to him and gave him a stop sign, "Don’t come any closer," she pleaded.
"Arissa_"
"I’m fine, Nick. It’s just an after-effect from my nightmare," she explained and stood straight. She walked over to the handraiser and washed her mouth.
Nicklaus walked over to the poo seat. He pressed the water closet and helped her flush her discharge.
Arissa spared him a glance and rained her hands, "Thank you,"
Nicklaus walked towards her and stood behind her. Holding her gaze from the sink mirror, he dropped a hand on her shoulder and rubbed it down to her wrist.
Arissa took in a deep breath and turned away from the mirror, facing him.
"You look pale," he noticed, "and your lips won’t stop quivering,"
Arissa rubbed her forehead and nodded, "It’s from a nightmare, Nick," Saying that, she walked out of him and strolled into the room.
Nicklaus followed behind her and watched how exhausted she drooped on the bed. He was glad he came and could assist her.
He stood before her closet, rested his back on it, and pressed one of his feet on it. "Do you mind telling me what the nightmare is about?"
"I do, I do mind," Arissa muttered and rolled over on the bed, hiding her whole face. "Can we not talk about it?"
There was a large part of her heart that was scared about how the outcome of the whole thing would be.
"We can’t Arissa. It bothers you and I can’t let it slide off," he said firmly, "Why don’t you want to talk about it? Isn’t it the same reoccurring one?"
Arissa sniffed in the duvet and rolled over. She faced him and forced a smile to grace her lips, "You’re not yet ready to listen to it now, I can assure you of that. When you are, I’ll let you know about it,"
Nicklaus frowned and Arissa stood up from the bed. She walked towards him and held both sides of his face in her palm.
Holding his intense dark gaze, she said, "You just have to trust me on this,"
Nicklaus’s face became sullen. He took her hands off his face and walked away from her. Two steps away from her, he paused and said, "I honestly see no reason why you don’t want to share this with me. We’re partners, we agreed to be one in everything but now you have decided to be this way,"
Arissa faced him, "Don’t say it that way, Nick,"
Nicklaus chuckled and turned to her, "Why? Huh? Give me one reason, why?" he raised a brow at her, "Well I have no other way to say this. This isn’t your first time having this nightmare but all through, you decide to live alone with it. Tell me, is it proper?" his voice raised a bit higher than usual and it caused Arissa to flinch away from his sight.
Nicklaus noticed this and rubbed his forehead in deep thought, "There’s your warm milk. Have it and go to sleep," he turned away from her and walked toward the bed.
