His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 396: Hot Dramatic Position
Chapter 396: Hot Dramatic Position
"Why did you hide the truth from me all these years?" Arissa started the moment she stepped out of the dining hall
Nicklaus shut the door behind her and Mr. Adams feet walking towards the living room paused. The hairs on his arm stood in both happiness and unknown fright.
The feeling wasn’t a comfortable one.
Nicklaus walked towards Arissa. Pulling her sideway to himself, he placed a hand on her shoulder and rubbed tenderly on her skin.
"I think we should take a seat first," Mr. Aldams suggested not turning towards the couple. He proceeds toward the living room without waiting for their approval or disapproval.
Having no other choice, Arissa followed behind him. She stared at Mr. Adams’s back and wondered how many lies she would have to uncover about her whole life. At this point now, she would no longer be surprised if someone brought proof to say that Laura wasn’t her biological mother. Gently, Nicklaus made her to sit on one of the couches and he sat down beside her.
Mr. Adams occupied the couch opposite the couple. He rubbed his palms together and stared down at the floor.
"I never for once imagined a day like this, where I have to tell you the truth would come." He began, "The deal was for me to return to my maker with this secret and not say a word to someone else outside the deal,"
Arissa stayed quiet. She stretched herself to make herself comfortable on the couch and Nicklaus took her into her arms, creating comfort for her by himself.
Mr. Adams raised his face and stared at an open space, "You were my daughter and I made sure to treat you like one. I should have told you but I never had the courage. I thought you wouldn’t really understand," he paused for a moment and met Arissa’s eyes, "It wasn’t easy for me to listen to you call Alfred your father. It wasn’t easy for me when I had to comfort you, each time you cried about being neglected by Alfred and Laura and it wasn’t easy when I had to stay away from you because Alfred felt threatened by our closure. All of those things weren’t easy but I was able to push on. Bearing all of those things was far better than having my job taken away from me until I can’t see you anymore," he said.
Arissa nodded. Her expression remained blank and one wouldn’t be able to tell what ran through her mind at the moment.
She fixed her eyes sternly on Mr. Adams. A lot of things she had to say ran through her mind but after a few seconds, she only let out a low sigh and asked, "Why do you want to have a word with my husband?" ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Mr. Adams was taken aback by her blunt tune. He expected her to ask him a few questions concerning his link to her and not questions concerning Nicklaus. Sadness covered his whole body language.
Arissa read Mr. Adams’s expression perfectly and replied as if asked, "My husband is my priority," she sounded so supportive as she intertwined her fingers with Nicklaus’s own.
The corners of Nicklaus’s lips raised into a proud smirk. He turned to Arissa and dropped a tender loving kiss on her head.
Mr. Adams released a low sigh and sat up straight. Arissa’s voice meant business and he thinks he should move straight to the point and not around in circles.
"I want to know your plans. Who or what would you choose if asked to? Arissa or_"
Nicklaus’s body stiffened upon hearing Mr. Adams. For that reason, he stylishly cut him off, "They won’t do that, leave that alone,"
Arissa felt how the question affected Nicklaus. Her brown eyes squinted in suspicion, "Wait, what?" She looked up at Nicklaus and back to Me. Adams, "What’s going on? Why would you have to choose between me and someone?"
Nicklaus’s face hardened. He took his hand off Arissa’s waist and sat straight. He never expected Mr. Adams to ask him such a question. His eyes fell to the floor.
Seeing Nicklaus’s reaction and Arissa’s questioning look, he pinned a hard annoyed glare on Nicklaus, "You didn’t tell her anything, did you?"
Arissa blinked in confusion. "What’s all of this about?" She asked facing Nicklaus.
"It’s about_"
"SHUT UP!" Nicklaus roared coldly at Mr. Adams causing Arissa, who was seated beside him to flinch a bit out of fear.
Nicklaus’s heart skipped a beat when Arissa flinched away from him. He wrapped his arms gently around Arissa. Keeping her put by his side, he faced her and without meeting her eyes, he said, "Let’s talk inside,"
Arissa shook her head, "No. I want to talk here and now. We were alone together a few minutes ago but you told me nothing of this nature. Rather, you allowed me to find out about it from someone else... and now you want us to go back inside? And then what? So you can hide more things from me?" she called him out.
Nicklaus struggled to meet her eyes. Unable to, he transferred his aggression to Mr. Adams, "Leave my house," he ordered.
Arissa’s mouth parted open in shock. Her blood boiled from the inside when she tried to measure what Nicklaus was supposed to inform her.
She folded her arms across her chest and stared fiercely at Nicklaus. Her eyes demanded an explanation for the sudden order.
"Tell me everything. Don’t leave even a sigh out of it," she commanded Mr. Adams when Nicklaus looked determined to say nothing. "Also, you go nowhere until you say all I have to know about. And let me warn you, pray you don’t lie to me,"
Mr. Adams locked eyes with Nicklaus. Nicklaus’s eyes ordered him to leave while Arissa ordered him not to. Taking in a soft gulp, he tried not to step on any one of them. He was in a hot dramatic position.
She faced Nicklaus, "Also, if you badly want him to leave here, ask him to give me answers."
