House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 233: Targaryen Torment III

(Third Person POV)

The Wyrm suddenly released Jaehaerys as there were footsteps around the corner. It quickly slithered away at rapid speeds as Jaehaerys gasped for air.

Baelon was holding a candle when he saw his father on the ground, "Father?!" He said, "What are you doing?!"

Jaehaerys was holding his throat as he coughed, "M-Monster!" He managed

Baelon rushed over and crouched down, "What?" He said, "I heard strange noises, what is going on?!"

Jaehaerys got to his knee as Baelon clutched his son's clothes, "Beast!" He managed, "There was a creature here!! It attacked me!"

Baelon looked around, "W-What are you talking about?" He said, "I heard nothing...."

"You didn't see it?" The King asked, "You didn't see the massive serpent?!"

"No...." Baelon said, "Serpent? Did that Mya send her creatures to assassinate you?! I'll fly over to Harrenhal to-"

"No!" Jaehaerys cut him off, "No, it was not a ordinary serpent....it had dragon scales....it was pale silver...."

"What?" Baelon said

Jaehaerys inhaled some air and exhaled it as he managed to compose himself, "This...." He said while sweating, "Search the castle....this creature will be here...."

"F-Fine..." Baelon said

"Do not provoke any destruction...." Jaehaerys said, "If Drakken finds out we've targeted his other woman, there is no telling what he may do. He will unleash his wrath upon the city....that is the last thing we need....a power greater than Balerion...."

"Your Grace!" A guard exclaimed, "We have a problem!"

The King looked up to see the guards rushing over holding torches, "What is it?" He asked as he stood up, "What happened?"

"Prince Aemon was attacked!" He said, "He claims a serpent-like creature attacked him!"

"Him too???" Baelon asked, "Is this Drakken's doing???"

"What do you think?" Jaehaerys muttered, "Gather all of my children to my chambers! Now! I don't want anyone to be at risk tonight!"

"At once, Your Grace!!" the guards said

Jaehaerys looked at Baelon, "Get your sons over." He said, "We need to discuss this...."

"Are you sure? All of us gathered in your chambers..." Baelon asked

"Yes." He said, "Now go."

"Get them there."

"What is going on?" Vaegon drowsily asked as he bumped into the young prince Viserys, "Why were we gathered here in Father's chambers? Move, boy."

"Ah." Viserys said as he stumbled, "Watch your step, Uncle."

Vaegon simply scowled and looked away.

Alyssa was sitting down, holding Aegon, "I do not know...." She said, "Something must have happened...."

Everyone was gathered in the King's chambers, all except Alysanne and Baelon, the latter who was helping in searching for the creatures.

Aemon was sitting next to Daella who was holding Aemma in her arms, "I...." He said, "I was attacked by a creature....."

He had a grim look on his face, something that Daella noticed. The princess held his hand and squeezed it with assurance. Sitting down in front of their father, Rhaenys and Rhaella were leaned against each other, dozing off as Prince Daemon was laying down in front of them, completely asleep.

Alyssa looked at him, "What exactly happened?" She asked

"I was....." Aemon rubbed his face, "I was looking at the ghost of Aenys."

Rhaenys looked up, "Father....?"

"It....was an illusion...." Aemon said, trying to keep his composure, "And the creature attacked me....I imagine the same happened to Father....."

"A ghost?" Alyssa glanced over at Viserra who was sitting down on a chair, giving her a look, "Who do you think Father saw?"

"Perhaps our sister." Aemon said, "Daenerys."

"Oh." Alyssa said softly

Viserra stood up, "A Ghost.....a serpent like creature..." She said softly, "A Ghostwyrm...."

Vaegon looked at her, "What are you talking about?"

"Nothing..." Viserra said, "I am just saying things...."

Viserys walked over to the window, "I hear there is a war...." He said, "Do you think we'll be safe?"

"Yes, my son." Alyssa said, "I will make sure you are all okay."

Aemon looked up, "This is the extent of Drakken's torment." He said, "We made the mistake of harming his woman. It is all because of what we did."

Viserra looked at him, "What did you do?"

"Aemon....." Daella said, "Do not blame yourself for what happened...."

"It is the truth. I had a hand in it." Aemon said, "I allowed Father to meet with those people..." freewebnσvel.cѳm

"What did you do?" Viserra repeated

"An attack on Drakken's territory ended up with his Lady, Daranne, to die." Aemon said, "That is why he attacked the Vale with such ferocity. That is why thousands are currently dying by his hand...."

Viserra and Alyssa exchanged glances, "Y-You.....killed one of his women?"

"Not directly." Daella spoke up, "He had nothing to do with it."

"But...." Alyssa said, "Aemon was involved in the plan."

"That is not right, brother." Viserra said, "You've angered him completely. You don't understand what you've done."

Aemon frowned and looked at her, Vaegon was also looking at her strangely, "What....?" He said, "Why do you speak as if you know, Viserra? You are but a girl...."

"Aemon, it is okay." Daella said, "Calm down."

Viserra's face hardened. "You've doomed us all." She said seriously, "If Drakken decides to stop playing around and focus his entire army to the Crownlands, what will stop a fierce war from escalating. Balerion is on our side, but the mere use of him will trigger devastation..."

Alyssa cleared her throat, "She...." She said, "Don't mind her."

"No." Vaegon said, "I want to know what she meant."

"Where is mother?" Viserra suddenly said as she looked around, "I don't see her...."

Aemon looked around, "That is strange...." He said, "She would have been here...."

"Where is she?"

[Runestone, The Vale]

Sitting atop the tower of the castle which was partially destroyed, Drakken looked up to the sky to see an incoming dragon.

Below him, the Duskguard were finishing up the resisting Royce Knights. They had made their way to Runestone, killing Mountain Tribesmen on the path. After reaching the castle, they were met with surprising resistance but the Duskguard were not fazed in the slightest and defeated the entirety of the House.

Drakken let the heirs of House Royce live while he killed Lord Royce in single combat; it was not much of a fight, but rather a slaughtering. Despite saying no words, Drakken had a bit of respect towards the Knight who showed no fear of him. And while Lord Royce had no sons, his daughters would continue his line should Drakken allow them to.

One of his daughters desperately offered herself to him as a way to keep her younger sisters, who were no older than 15, from being touched. Drakken showed no interest in her and had them locked up safely in one of the rooms in the castle.

All of those in Runestone who were not fighting were spared, Drakken finding no reason to slaughter.

And now, Queen Alysanne was seen flying towards the castle atop her dragon, Silverwing.

"What is she doing?" Drakken said as he was still wearing his armor, "That foolish woman....."

He stood up and pulled his spear out of the stone, looking straight up at the dragon as it got closer.

He then raised the spear and took aim, holding it steadily as he homed in on the dragon. Then, in a swift motion, he launched the spear right at Silverwing. The spear flew right at the dragon, piercing its belly and blood spewed out as it let out a pained roar.

"N-No!!" Alysanne exclaimed as she clutched the handles of her saddle, "Silverwing!!"

Drakken then watched as the dragon crashed straight down into the ground in front of the castle,

"Stupid fucking woman."
