How To End This Marriage-Chapter 141: The Downfall of the Duchess
"Bernice, is it you?" Duke Alexander Agnes mumbled.
"Yes, Alex! It is me! Can’t you feel the warmth of my body against yours? It is me, your one and only wife." Her voice rang in Alex’s ear, pulling him closer to her.
"Did you think I would let you go once I am here with you? No! You always run away when I need you. You always flinch when I touch you, and this will not happen this time until I make you so tired that you can’t get up from the bed." He said, removing his nightgown, exposing his body against hers.
"Can you feel how you are making me feel?"
"Here, touch me! Feel what my heart says about you!" He whispered in her ear while making her hand touch his bare skin.
"I always wanted to see you like this. Finally, I have it!" She said, touching his body and whispering sweet nothings in his ear.
"You don’t know how much you have driven me crazy. Whenever I see you, I always imagine you without clothes, and I finally have you. You have raised my anticipation even more by being in front of me like this." She said.
As she finished speaking, she pulled down the bed screen, pushed Alex onto the bed, and began to remove her nightgown, which she had worn for the Duke. But just then, the door slammed loudly.
"Who is it?" she whispered.
"Open the bloody door!" came the voice from the other side.
"Who is it? It’s so late?" she whispered.
"Don’t go! Stay here with me!" Alex said, pulling her by the waist.
"Let me go see who it is! Something urgent may have occurred." She said smoothly, removing his hands from her waist. She re-wore her nightgown and got up from the bed, walking towards the door.
"Open!" the voice spoke again.
"What the hell is it! Can’t you see I’m busy?" she said angrily, opening the door to find the Duchess outside, knocking helplessly.
"W-what are you doing here?" the Duchess asked, stuttering upon seeing the Princess coming out of the room.
"Oh, it’s you! You’re so eager to see that I’m with Alex, right? Now you’ve seen it? Now get lost! You’re delaying our progress!" the Princess said.
"I-I’m delaying?" the Duchess questioned, noticing the Princess’s nightgown strap slipping down.
"Yes, can’t you see what I’m doing? Or do you want to be the third partner? I don’t mind!" the Princess chuckled, leering at the Duchess from head to toe.
"I want to see him. Without seeing him, I won’t believe what’s going on." the Duchess said, trying to step inside the room when Duke called out, "Wife, what’s making you delay? I’m impatient. I can’t wait to have you any longer."
As she heard the voice from Alex directly, her feet trembled.
"Did you see? He really accepted me as his wife. What more do you want to see? Do you want to see him all bare skin? I can show you, though. He’s so delicious like that. But who am I even saying? You might never have seen him rolling up his sleeve, let alone seeing him without his shirt or pants." The Princess smirked as she spoke to the Duchess, who was filled with tears.
"Awwww, my sweet darling! You’re crying? I can’t believe there will be a day when I see you shedding tears for your dear Duke Alexander Agnes. But now that I see it, it’s something so memorable to me. I want to capture it. But I don’t have the magic orb with me. So bad, right?" The Princess teased the Duchess, who had already started crying, pouring her emotions out.
"You! You all did not do right by me!" she said, fury pouring from her angry eyes.
"I didn’t do right by you? Ha ha ha ha! What a joke!" the Princess retorted. "How many times did I warn you not to mess with me?"
"How many times did I say not to go near Alex? Because he is mine!"
"Just how many times did I try to explain it, Bernice?"
"Now you are blaming me as if I ruined your happiness? If it were your happiness, then he would have been with you from the day you got married! But he wasn’t. He always maintained his distance from you. He always supported me in front of you. How much more do you need to hear that he was never yours, Bernice Balliol Agnes?"
The Princess placed her eyes directly on the Duchess, looking her fiercely in the face.
"You want to hear more from me?" the Princess said, pulling the Duchess into the room where Duke Alexavier Agnes lay completely bare, which terrified her even further.
"Did you see this? This is my man! He was never yours, Bernice! He only treated you like a substitute for me. He thinks of me as a wife. He thinks of me as his Duchess, not you. So get away from our lives and never appear before us again!"
The Princess pushed the Duchess out of the room, causing her to stumble and hit the stair bars.
The Mistress, who had been watching, approached Bernice.
"She doesn’t need to get away from us. She is already doomed!" the Mistress said.
"What do you mean, Aunt? What more has she done?" the Princess asked anxiously.
"The maid has died! Now there is no more proof for her to claim innocence. Now she will be executed no matter what."
"Wow, what have you gotten yourself into, Bernice? I told you not to mess with me. And now even the Duke is on my side, so you are doomed, as Aunt said. No, no, no... My mother-in-law! How could I forget our upcoming marriage? And I will start calling her mother from now on!" the Princess exclaimed with excitement.
"Now go to my son! He must be waiting for you in his bedroom." The Mistress said with a smirk.
"Oh yes! I almost forgot! Mother, please prepare the execution ceremony for this woman, as I’m sure the Duke and I will be tired tomorrow, so you understand, mother." she said, acting shyly.
"Yes, yes, you two don’t have to worry!" the Mistress replied as the Princess returned to the Duke’s room. The Mistress pulled the Duchess by her arm and dragged her across the floor, causing her to bleed in various places.
"You will never be in their life. Now prepare for it!" she said, pulling her harshly while the maids glared at her with anger.
"Yes, she deserves this. She is a witch. From the moment she entered our lives, she has been a thorn in our throats, and now she will get what she deserves." one of the maids said.
"She killed my sister. She shouldn’t live in peace. She should be in more pain than my sister was. I have wished so much to see her married, but she ate her. She is a witch. She ate my sister entirely. Her soul must be crying in heaven because she didn’t want to die."
The maid’s sister cursed Bernice as the Mistress continued to drag her across the floor.
"Don’t worry. You will all get justice! Whatever she has done to you, she will get a thousand times more than that." the Mistress said, dragging her to the cells in the underground floor.
Suddenly, she heard a moaning sound from the floor above.
"Young people can’t be gentle," the Mistress said with a shy smile.
The Duchess looked up one last time, but the sound only hurt her further.
"Now you will not be a thorn in my son’s life," the Mistress said again.
"I know your son will be at peace from now on. I will not let him be in an unhappy marriage anymore. I have freed him from this painful marriage. I have freed him from the responsibility he should have held for me. I have freed him from the tie that was binding us together."
"I have freed him from everything. You should be happy, right? This is what all of you were wanting to know. And now it is all crystal clear before you. The new duchess, the new wife of the young Duke Alexander Agnes, and the newly appointed emperor of this empire, while the princess will be the empress." She said, smiling as she looked at the mistress.
"Yes, it’s good that you have come to know all the truth now. Even though it is all late, at least you understand your wrongdoings. Or who would want to dirty their hands by killing you?" She made faces as she spoke.
"Yes, yes, I have learned the truth. Now, when is the execution for me? Tomorrow? Now? This moment? When? Tell me! I should know when I am dying so that I can curse all of you to lead a most pathetic life, just like the one I have been given!" Bernice glared at her.
