HUNTED-Chapter 333: Aila’s Plan
The trio didn’t stay in the office for much longer. After Aila found out the reasoning behind some of the lycans’ inability to shift into their human forms, she wanted to help instantly. Though, they still had other matters to discuss. So, Chase and Damon followed her through the garden and towards the guest housing near the woods.
But that didn’t stop them from discussing further. Their pack members were busy with their usual tasks and training, so their private conversation was fine to discuss.
"So, Chase, you are the man in charge now. How does it feel?" Aila grinned, looking over her shoulder at Chase, who followed behind the Alpha and Luna.
"A lot of fricken work," Chase grumbled, but Aila knew he didn’t mind. The hunters, their enemies for centuries, had helped them with Cassius, and it was all down to Chase.
He was the one who convinced others to help or possibly found those who thought similarly to him. From what Aila remembered on the day, a lot of the hunters appeared to be on the younger side, at least from eighteen to mid-thirties. There was only the occasional older person that caught her attention.
"I’m glad you’re the one in charge, though," Aila replied as they traipsed through the edges of the forest behind the house’s gardens. Some were fenced off to add more privacy to the pack members living in the house, but others let their gardens merge with their neighbours and the forest.
Pack life was pretty open. If they stripped naked among each other, then what was a little bit of sharing over gardens.
"Chase, we need to make a plan. We can’t pretend to play ignorant on our lands about the mess outside. The human world is aware of our existence now, and the news is making it worse, and many are seeking out our kind. I’m not talking about just werewolves, either.
The vampires were never placed on earth to protect humankind, so they will not care about snapping a few necks or drinking from them," Damon spoke and paused to stare at Chase.
Damon and Aila had discussed their ideas, but they needed to have something in place in the meantime to keep the mass of humans from literal witch-hunting and getting themselves killed in the process. It was a messy business that would get out of hand and make the supernatural creatures appear as the bad guys. Sure, some of them were, but like any group, there was good and bad in both.
"I can see you are already planning on something but hold off on it for a while." Chase held his finger up before Aila could interrupt. "We are going to be making an official statement. The hunters association with a few government officials will be going on live tv. That should calm the public for now, keep them from acting out."
Aila’s hands went to her hips as she thought about the hunters also going public on the news. From the reports, the news could only state that they were private mercenaries that nobody knew the name of. Technically they were. But it was big for Chase to reveal who the hunters were, and how would they explain who they were?
For years they’d hunted the supernatural creatures down; hearing this would only make the public panic more. "Don’t worry, Aila." Chase stepped forwards, his hazel eyes on hers. "Our reveal will not make anyone panic. I will state that we have known about supernatural creatures for years and have acted as another force of protection in secret for humans. I will not say how much we hunted them."
Aila flinched at that. It was a flaw in his speech. There were too many to make such a lie about.
"What about those of the hunters who do not follow your beliefs?" Damon asked. "They could also speak up to reporters."
Chase nodded like he’d already thought about it. "That’s true, but there is so much coverage on this that it will be hard to discern what is the truth. We will use that as an advantage for now."
Damon nodded along, looking pensive as his gaze followed the trees. "I know you well now, Aila. What is it you’re planning?" Chase asked as he raked his hand through his hair, but the wind blew it back over his forehead. It had grown long, and the boy she’d first met was starting to look more and more like a man.
Not that he never had been in the first place, but his build was similar to Damon’s, which was impressive considering he was only human.
Now Chase’s face had the first signs of stubble growing, and although he appeared tired, it did not take away from his good looks.
Damon’s chest rumbled at that, and Aila rolled her eyes at that. Damon was the only man for her. She was just thinking about how much had happened to him in a small amount of time as well and how he seemed to look better for it.
"We are waiting on Gabriel’s return.." Aila began after clearing her throat and ignoring her mate’s piercing glare. She would make it up to him later. "But.. I think we should all work together."
Chase tilted his head at that, confusion forming on his features. "What do you mean?"
A small smile tugged at Aila’s lips. "This is what I mean." She gestured at Chase, speaking to Damon like she was continuing from another conversation they’d had. Well, she was. They had discussed it in bed a few times, and Damon agreed with her. Whether they would pull it off was another matter.
"We’ve all been living separately, not working together. Granted.. the hunters were another story, but being exposed to the public can be turned into an advantage. I’m not saying we follow Cassius’ plan of world domination, but I think we should create a group that had the world officials and important figures from each of our kinds to discuss matters that will help everyone.
"I’ve already got Ajax getting a hold of his people. We just need Gabriel and a witch or something.. Chase, we need your help to make this possible as well. Otherwise, it all falls through, and I think everything will remain chaotic." By now, Aila had Chase’s hands in hers as she spoke passionately about her idea.
Chase had watched her, seeming in awe for a moment before a smile grew on his handsome face. "I’ll see what I can do. We’ll make this statement first, then we’ll coordinate how to make this meeting happen."
Aila squeezed his hands. "Are we really doing it?"
Chase squeezed back. "Looks like we are, Luna."
At that point, Damon stepped between them and slid his arm over Aila’s shoulders. "That’s great, but let’s have less hand-holding. My wolf is feeling a little touchy about it." To prove his point, Damon’s eyes glowed like two full moons in the night sky. Aila stroked his rock-hard abs comfortingly and kissed his chest before looking back at Chase.
"Alright, now that’s sorted.." Aila began as she started to walk with the weight of her mate’s arm over her shoulders. "Let’s see if we can help my most trusted lycan." She didn’t bother mentioning Harry’s name.
Harry seemed to be fitting in really well. Considering he was a rogue before becoming a lycan, his rough manners fit well in the Silver Crescent pack. Was it because their pack was full of hardcore warriors and members like Chiara, who was a little more on the wilder side? Possibly. They also didn’t seem to mind or be afraid when he shifted into his lycan form.
If anything, most were in awe at the beast he became.

As they walked, Aldric’s house came into view. Unlike some of the other houses they’d given the lycans, his appeared tidy. At least three-quarters of the lycans who came back with Aila remained in their lycan forms, and it was her responsibility to help them return back to normal. Or as normal as they can be.
They approached Aldric’s back garden, and it became more apparent why his house seemed tidier. Aldric had been sleeping outside. There was an old blanket on the floor, and the back door to the house was open, but there was no rubbish or leftover bones from animals he hunted around. The lycan was a few feet away from the garden, standing tall with another and seemed to be mind-linking one another.
It was strange to see them in such nonchalant positions. Their large gangly arms were folded against their chests, nodding to whatever discussion they held. "Aldric, is this a bad time?" Aila called out.
The lycans bared their necks at the approaching Alpha and Luna. The other lycan then turned away as Aldric remained, his head still bowed. "It is never a bad time for you, my queen. What can I help you with?"
Aila untangled herself from Damon and approached the overly large beast. "Actually.. It’s what I can help you with."
