Chapter 265: What more do you want to hear?

Ariel slowly opened her eyes. The room she was in was a bit dim but she could make out two people standing in front of her.

’What’s going on?’ she wondered and then she heard Raymond yell, which brought her hazy mind out of the mud.

"She was mine and pregnant with my child."

She flinched and that was when she noticed the bomb on her thighs. It scared her and the scene looked familiar but she wanted to know more about the situation in front of her.

The person whom Raymond was talking to was Serena, right? Why were they together and what was this talk of Serena taking Ariel away from him?

Did she kidnap Ariel as well? Hearing Raymond talk about Ariel in such an angry tone actually made her feel bad.

Sure, she was the one he cared about. But the more she listened, the more she could not believe her ears.

This... Why did it feel like they were talking about her?

"You took Ariel from her family and her memories and gave her a life she never asked for. A different identity she never wished for. You took my child too, and made her grow up without a father. I do not appreciate it and will never let such a thing happen again. I’m taking her with me."

At that moment, she realized that she was indeed the one they were talking about. She was... Ariel.

"Is... Is that true?" She asked with a shaky voice and met Raymond’s eyes. He looked at her like he had seen a ghost and her tears were falling without her permission. "Is what you said true? Am I really Ariel? The one you love? Am I her and not just a lookalike?"

Serena took in a puff of her cigarette and let it out her nostrils before saying,

"Wow, you wake up to see yourself trapped with a bomb on you and the first thing you’re worried about is if you’re this man’s dead lover. People in love can do really stupid things."

"Serena?" Ariel called, looking at the lady whom she once thought was her sister. "Is that true?"

"You already heard all of it, what more do you want to hear?" Serena said, with a mocking gaze. "But don’t worry, there’s not going to be a round two. This time, you’re both going to blow up in specks of dust. Hahaha."

Ariel was dumbstruck. Though it was strange that she cared about this matter more than the bomb on her thigh, she couldn’t overlook it.

She had been in doubt for so long and to think this was how she would discover the truth. She looked at Raymond with pleading eyes and these pleading eyes weren’t ones that told him to save her but ones that wished she would tell her that this was not a lie.

Tell her that she was indeed the woman he had yearned for all his life, the woman he had suffered loving for so many years. She wanted to hear him say it.

Raymond opened his mouth to speak and called her by her full name,

"Ariel Albert." He called and Ariel flinched but then he shook his head and said, "That’s not right. You’re not Ariel Albert, you’re Ariel Stein. My wife."

Ariel’s heart leaped for joy. Nothing could make her feel happier than this. Hearing him call that name has never been so beautiful.

"Wow, it seems I created some sort of stage for your two love birds." Serena interrupted their moment. "Honestly, it makes me sick."

Raymond turned to glare at her. What did she want after all? If she wanted to kill him, he was sure she would’ve been able to do that while he was distracted.

She just stood there, observing them and waiting to intercede in their conversation.

"Okay, I think it’s time to get this party started." She said and suddenly took out a gun.

Raymond reflexively stood in front of Ariel, blocking Serena from shooting her and she laughed.

"Haha, look at you, acting like some guard dog." She laughed. "But I have no plans to shoot her. Rather," she raised her gun and pointed it at him. "I want to shoot you. How’s that? Does that make you relieved?"

"Serena, you can’t do this." Ariel yelled at her.

"Oh? Why can’t I?" She asked. "Hm, or would you prefer I shoot the bomb on your thigh rather?" She shifted the aim of her gun down. "That could work. We can all blow up in pieces. But while I have nothing to lose, you two stand to lose everything and that little brat will love without parents, hahaha."

Serena laughed maniacally, causing them to worry. She was too dangerous.

"Fine." Raymond suddenly said and Ariel looked up at him in shock.

"What?"

"Go ahead and shoot me. Just promise that you’ll let Ariel go after you’ve finished me off." He said,

"Sure." Serena immediately agreed.

"What are you saying?" Ariel asked, her heartbeat accelerating in fear and her pupils shaking uncontrollably.

"Rachael has lived this far without me in her life, I’m sure that she’ll do just fine if I’m dead. It’s better that she loses me than loses you." Raymond said, smiling warmly at her but Ariel couldn’t take it.

She couldn’t stand the thought.

"W-what? Are you doing this to p-punish me?" She asked and wished her hands were free so she could hold on to him but they were bound. "You want to disappear from my life just like I disappeared from yours, is that it?"

"No, Ariel."

"You can’t do that. Even if you want to punish me, don’t drag Rachael into this. She’s innocent. She can’t handle the thought of not having a father. She..."

"Then would you prefer she have none of us by her side?" Raymond yelled at her and her pupils trembled, tears brimming out uncontrollably. "If I die, at least she’ll have you. But if we both die, she’ll fall into darkness. Is that what you want?"

"No. No, but... Wahh." she cried. "I don’t want to lose you."

"Ariel, I haven’t exactly lived a righteous life so I’m probably going to hell but the thought of living you alone scares me more than the thought that I’ll burn eternally. Funny, right?"

Ariel cried, shaking her head and refusing to believe it.

Raymond walked away from her to avoid the mistake of her getting shot in the process and as he walked away, she felt her life was flashing before her eyes and she yelled his name.

"Raymond! Raymond!"

Yet he ignored her and spread his arms wide, ready to be shot.

Serena giggled and roasted her gun.

"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to give you an extra painful and slow death so I won’t aim for your vitals yet. Hopefully, I can give your darling wife a memory that will haunt her for the rest of her life, muhahaha." She laughed and shot the first bullet at Raymond’s side.

Ariel’s eyes widened in horror, and her mind kept denying what was in front of her. This wasn’t happening, right? This was a lie... right? But she watched Raymond clutch onto his side while blood slowly trickled down his hand.

He looked down at her with a face filled with pain and smiled, mouthing the words, "Don’t worry, I’m fine. I’m not that weak so I won’t die on you."
