Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Seriously Insane

The moment he saw the eyeball radiating a cyan evolutionary light, Feng Bqing’s expression changed instantly.

"A fifth-tier wondrous item! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

Mrs. Yun was a Butterfly Stage evolver. The price for using a fifth-tier wondrous item, two levels above her own, would be unimaginable.

A smile appeared on Mrs. Yun’s dark, aged face. She had always carried this fifth-tier wondrous item with her. Throughout their journey, she hadn’t used it when her comrades died tragically, nor had she used it when the disciple she had painstakingly taught was killed right before her eyes.

She had held back this whole time, because she only had one chance to use it.

Her mission was to protect Dr. Liou Wenxin. She would only use this fifth-tier wondrous item—the Eye of Dream Weaving—if Dr. Liou was in danger.

And now, the time had come.

The Eye of Dream Weaving’s cyan light illuminated a large area around Mrs. Yun and Feng Bqing. The amber pupil of the eyeball glinted with a lifelike spirit, as if it were still alive.

Feng Bqing’s body faded into a shadow and retreated. The fifth-tier wondrous item was of a higher tier than even he was; he didn’t dare be careless.

However, the Eye of Dream Weaving’s gaze was like a physical substance, locking firmly onto Feng Bqing. The pupil shot out a beam of cyan light that struck him.

In the next instant, Feng Bqing was forced out of his incorporeal state. His eyes were vacant, as if he had fallen into a stupor.

At the same time, the shadowy hand clutching Su Ze and Liou Wenxin dissipated, and the two of them regained their mobility.

But the darkness blanketing everyone had yet to recede.

A smile suddenly appeared on Feng Bqing’s stupefied face, but it quickly turned to sorrow, then to anger, excitement, pleasure, madness, and a whole host of other emotions.

He was clearly under the influence of the Eye of Dream Weaving.

Su Ze could tell that the Eye of Dream Weaving, like his Head of the Wailer, was a wondrous item specializing in mental attacks.

Mrs. Yun held up the Eye of Dream Weaving, sustaining its effect. She too seemed to have lost her mobility. Her arm shook uncontrollably, her hair turned white strand by strand, more and more wrinkles appeared on her face, and her back grew increasingly stooped.

Already past the prime of her life, she was now striding rapidly toward its end.

"Mrs. Yun."

Liou Wenxin stood helplessly in the darkness, as fragile as a dandelion puff that would scatter with a single breath.

Su Ze could only watch in silence like the others. There was nothing they could do; they couldn’t interfere in a battle of this level.

Attacking Feng Bqing now with their skills, which posed no threat to a Sacred-level life form, might even make things worse.

They could only wait for the outcome.

Su Ze took two steps to Liou Wenxin’s side and gently patted her on the back without a word.

He and Liou Wenxin had been grabbed by the shadowy hand and dragged away from the group, so now only the two of them were standing together. The others were several dozen meters away.

But when Su Ze’s gaze swept over the others, he suddenly paused. He looked again, more carefully, then lowered his voice and said to Liou Wenxin, "We’re missing someone."

Their team had eight people in total. Subtracting Mrs. Yun, who was locked in a stalemate with Feng Bqing, there should have been seven people left on the ground. That meant there should have been seven glows of evolutionary light.

But now, Su Ze and Liou Wenxin counted several times. There were only four glows of evolutionary light in the group across from them. Adding the two of them made only six people. They were clearly missing one person.

Under the shroud of a Sacred-level expert’s ability, it was impossible for this person to have escaped. So, they had either run into trouble and died, or they had deliberately retracted their evolutionary light to hide.

The two orange glows of evolutionary light from the group were still on, which meant the one who had disappeared was at the Pupa Stage.

Su Ze breathed a sigh of relief. If someone was deliberately hiding at a time like this, they definitely had malicious intent, but a mere Pupa Stage would be manageable.

"Liou Wenxin, retract your evolutionary light with me. Then we’ll move from this spot. Make sure you don’t get separated from me," Su Ze whispered.

If the hidden person’s target was Liou Wenxin, then the two of them standing there with their evolutionary lights aglow would make them living targets.

But as long as they retracted their lights and hid in the darkness, the other person wouldn’t be able to find them either.

"Okay," Liou Wenxin agreed. She and Su Ze immediately drew their evolutionary power into their bodies, and the red evolutionary light around them instantly vanished.

Su Ze took Liou Wenxin’s hand and led her over a hundred steps before stopping.

Just then, the stalemate between Mrs. Yun and Feng Bqing above them finally changed. As Mrs. Yun grew progressively older, the cyan light from the Eye of Dream Weaving began to flicker, like a flashlight with a bad connection.

Meanwhile, the emotions on Feng Bqing’s face began shifting faster and faster, sometimes cycling through several expressions in a single second.

Finally, Mrs. Yun faltered and plummeted from the sky.

The four people below Mrs. Yun quickly caught her.

"I’m fine." Mrs. Yun pushed away the people trying to support her and asked, "Where is Dr. Liou?"

Liou Wenxin wanted to run over, but Su Ze held her back. "Wait. Don’t make a sound. The person who’s hiding might be waiting for us near them."

At that moment, Feng Bqing also seemed to regain his senses.

Everyone present, except for Mrs. Yun, felt their hearts sink. ’Feng Bqing didn’t die?’

But in the next moment, a foolish, dopey grin spread across Feng Bqing’s face. He shouted, "I love you, Mommy!"

Then his face filled with grief. "My husband doesn’t want me anymore, WAHHH..."

Next, his expression switched to one of agony as he screamed, "It hurts so much, I’m going into labor!"

His features twisted with rage. "You bitch, how dare you cheat on me!"

His face became righteous. "In the name of the moon, I will punish you."

He gestured wildly. "Make my monster grow!"

...

It was as if he were possessed by a drama queen, constantly switching between different roles and reciting different lines.

"Is he... insane?"

No one could believe it. A Sacred-level expert, an invincible being in their eyes, had been driven mad just like that?

What on earth had Feng Bqing experienced in that short amount of time?

Fifth-tier wondrous items were too terrifying!

’So Feng Bqing wasn’t just ’a little’ crazy anymore.’

Su Ze hadn’t expected this outcome either. After going mad, Feng Bqing no longer seemed hostile toward them, lost in his one-man show.

"Qiangzi!" Feng Bqing suddenly yelled toward the distance, as if something incredibly important were leaving him. His face was full of reluctance, tears and snot streaming down as he chased after it.

As he chased, he shouted, "Qiangzi, how can I live without you!"

"Qiangzi! Qiangzi..."

"Qiangzi, take me with you, Qiangzi..."

To the repeated cries of "Qiangzi," Su Ze and the others watched as Feng Bqing flew farther and farther away, until he vanished from sight.

And as Feng Bqing departed, so did the darkness that had enveloped them.

As the darkness receded and light returned to the world, Su Ze immediately spotted Li Gaojie not far from them.

"I knew it was you!" Su Ze had long suspected that Li Gaojie was the one who had been hiding.

And Li Gaojie instantly sprang into action, charging straight for Liou Wenxin.
