Chapter 82: Chapter 82: I Am Invincible at the Pupa Transformation Stage

Not far from Gu Chengguang’s small courtyard were the offices of the Li Min Association, the Dongli Kingdom’s highest governing body. A little further beyond that was Dongli University, the kingdom’s most prestigious institution of higher learning.

Su Ze followed Zhang Tai to Dongli University’s combat room.

The Dongli University teacher in charge of the combat room saw Zhang Tai approaching and hurried to greet them, warmly ushering the pair inside.

Inside the combat room were several massive arenas made of Super Alloy.

It was morning, so there weren’t many students in the combat room. Most of the arenas were empty.

Zhang Tai shouted to a student warming up not far away, "Zhang Kun!"

Hearing his name, the student turned around. When he saw Zhang Tai, he quickly jogged over and called out, "Dad."

Su Ze was taken aback. He sized up the young student. He looked to be about twenty, with a sturdy build and a simple, honest face. On closer inspection, he really did bear some resemblance to Zhang Tai.

Zhang Tai introduced him to Su Ze with a touch of pride. "This is my son, Zhang Kun. He’s at the Pupa Stage and has absorbed three vials of a Tier 2 extract. In this year’s mid-year school tournament, he ranked first in Pupa Stage combat!

"Su Ze, you don’t need to challenge every Pupa Stage user in Dongli. If you can defeat Zhang Kun, I’ll persuade Mr. Gu to seriously consider your proposal."

Then, he introduced Su Ze to Zhang Kun.

"Hello. I look forward to sparring with you," Zhang Kun said, extending his hand.

Su Ze also extended his hand and shook it. "Hello, Mr. Kun. Please go easy on me."

"Alright, you two warm up and then get in the arena. I’m going to step out for a smoke," Zhang Tai said, then left with the teacher managing the combat room.

Su Ze asked, "Mr. Kun, are you warmed up?"

Zhang Kun nodded.

"Then let’s get right in the arena."

Zhang Kun hesitated for a moment, then said, "Okay."

The two chose the nearest arena. The moment they stepped onto the platform, they caught the attention of the few students present in the combat room.

"Look, it’s Zhang Kun! He’s about to fight someone!"

"Mr. Kun is unbeatable!"

"Who’s his opponent? How come I’ve never seen him before? Is he from our school?"

"I don’t know. Never seen him. It’s probably a coaching match. Mr. Kun is just giving him some practice."

"Yeah, that must be it. I saw Mr. Kun’s dad bring him in. He’s probably the son of some bigshot."

"Gotta say, though, that guy is really handsome!" a female student exclaimed, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Su Ze.

Zhang Kun was something of a star student at Dongli University and was quite well-known. It was only natural that his appearance in the arena would draw attention.

"Go, Mr. Kun!"

From below the stage, people cheered for Zhang Kun from time to time.

Su Ze asked, "Can we begin?"

Zhang Kun nodded. "Let’s begin."

...

Outside the combat room, Zhang Tai lit a cigarette and chatted with the teacher beside him as he smoked.

He hadn’t even taken two puffs when he suddenly saw Su Ze walk out of the combat room.

Zhang Tai blinked. "Why are you out here?" he asked.

"It’s over," said Su Ze.

"Over?" Zhang Tai was stunned. He suddenly heard a commotion from inside the combat room. Thinking something had happened, he and the teacher rushed back in.

As soon as he entered, Zhang Tai saw many students gathered around one of the arenas, murmuring amongst themselves with looks of utter disbelief, as if they had just witnessed something incredible.

Zhang Kun was sitting slumped on the arena floor, his eyes vacant. He was in a complete daze, not even reacting to the wound on his chest that was slowly bleeding, as if he couldn’t feel the pain.

Zhang Tai leaped onto the arena in a single bound and checked Zhang Kun’s injury. He immediately breathed a sigh of relief. It was just a flesh wound, nothing serious.

"What on earth happened?" the teacher asked the surrounding students.

Someone answered, "Kun... Zhang Kun was defeated by that guy in a single move!"

"One move?" The teacher was astonished. He knew how strong Zhang Kun was.

Zhang Tai pulled his son to his feet and asked the teacher, "Mr. Meng, can you pull up the surveillance footage from the arena just now?"

"Yes, I’ll go get it right now!"

Zhang Tai half-dragged the dispirited Zhang Kun and followed the teacher to the monitoring room in the back.

A moment later, the surveillance footage was displayed.

Both Zhang Tai and Mr. Meng stared intently at the monitor, not wanting to miss a single frame.

The footage showed that after they confirmed the start of the battle, Su Ze launched the first attack. He used a Charge Skill to instantly close the distance, then jabbed a finger toward Zhang Kun.

Zhang Kun reacted quickly, using his best defensive skill, but Su Ze shattered it with that one finger jab and continued straight for Zhang Kun’s heart.

At the last moment, Su Ze pulled back, leaving only a cut on Zhang Kun’s chest.

If he hadn’t pulled back, that finger would have pierced right through his heart.

The match was really decided in a single blow!

Or rather, it was a blow that could have decided life and death!

Zhang Tai and Mr. Meng glanced at each other, both seeing the shock in the other’s eyes.

Su Ze’s power was just too immense!

Moreover, it felt like Zhang Kun hadn’t even forced Su Ze to use his full strength.

Just then, the shell-shocked Zhang Kun finally snapped out of his trance. His eyes still vacant, he looked at Zhang Tai and asked, "Dad, am I too weak, or is he just too strong?"

Zhang Tai suddenly felt a pang of regret for using his own son to test Su Ze.

...

Outside the combat room, Su Ze recalled the fight and couldn’t help but shake his head.

’So this is the strength of the number one Pupa Stage student at Dongli University?’

’Is he too weak, or am I just too strong?’

’I didn’t even get a chance to use my new skill, Furious Waves.’

Su Ze analyzed the situation for a moment and concluded that he was, in fact, just too strong. Ever since he had absorbed and digested the Undying Salamander extract, and then the Mutated Giant Crocodile Extract, his power had been skyrocketing.

His strength hadn’t just increased because of two new skills. The two extracts had also granted him a massive boost in his physical constitution. His power, speed, and durability were on a completely different level compared to when he was back in Heiyan City.

The Mutated Giant Crocodile Extract, in particular, had given Su Ze a boost far beyond that of a normal Tier 2, S-rank extract, and that was without him having fully digested it yet.

For Su Ze, strength was his most cost-effective attribute. An increase in strength created a chain reaction, amplifying the effects of Ant Power and increasing the explosive force of his needle strike.

Therefore, even though he was using the same combo of Ant Power plus needle strike, the power Su Ze could now unleash was far greater than before.

He had used this combo to one-shot Gao Long and Li Gaojie, both of whom were powerful experts at the Pupa Stage. Zhang Kun was supposed to be even stronger than them, but the current Su Ze was also far stronger than the old Su Ze. The result was still a one-hit knockout.

’So... I’m already invincible among those at the Pupa Stage...’

Su Ze felt his ego swell, but he immediately reminded himself, ’I can’t get careless!’

’There’s always someone stronger. Who knows if there’s an even more powerful existence among the Pupa Stage users in Luofan Country?’

’The plan hasn’t changed. I still need to digest the Mutated Giant Crocodile Extract as quickly as possible and then absorb a third extract.’

’That’s the only way to be safe.’
