I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 297: Gargoyle
With the help of George, Siderius collected the finest stonemasons in the surrounding town. Finn also called up some of his friends in Scalize that went over to help Siderius.
Nora had already finished her design for the Gargoyle inside the Alchemical Palace and Siderius had traced it to a physical schematic.
Gargoyle, a genus, belonged to the Automaton family in the Kingdom of Man. Technically speaking they weren’t natural beings but purely an artificial product of other families inside the five kingdoms.
Back in his Siderius’ old world, humans exclusively led the creation of Automaton and most of the existing Automaton served human society. Because of that, Automaton was categorized under the Kingdom of Man.
Other Kingdoms had also tried to replicate this. Especially Kingdom of Chaos, which witches created their own versions that they called Puppet. However, their creation was never able to match that of the Kingdom of Man.
Purely because the families under the Kingdom of Chaos were simply not built... to build. That was the purpose of the Kingdom of Man mostly. And the Alchemist.
The first ever Automaton was not a Gargoyle, but instead, a Golem. An artificial being that was able to grow along with the human that had created it.
Gargoyle, on the other hand, cannot grow or learn. It could only do what its creator had granted it to do. But give it enough time, it could also have a soul just like a golem.
The construction began shortly after Ashe left. The Gargoyle that Siderius wanted to make was gigantic. The scaffolding was built first and it was already three meters tall.
Siderius, himself, supervised the entire process, checking on every piece and bit of the Gargoyle while he, George, Finn, and a few other master craftsmen focused on the significant body parts.
They took one of the warehouses of the miner to use for the construction. Everyone went back and forth, busy all day. Surprisingly, working for Siderius was extremely relaxing. They didn’t have to stay later than they needed to or put in more effort than they were paid.
Siderius treated them well and was much more calm than the rumors told them he was. He paid extra for those that did a great work and cut those that were a problem.
Sometimes around break, they could also see Siderius sat down with the workers and had a chat with them.
His appearance was much different, sure, with his white hair and surprisingly large frame. But he had a lot of similarities to the rest of the workers. His hands were covered in plastered. His clothes were dirtied because of all the work. And his face was covered in sweat. When they sat down with him, Siderius didn’t seem that much of a lord but more like a colleague. A treacherous thought that no one dared to say but all thought to themselves.
The construction of the Gargoyle was going well.
One particular night, Siderius went back to his quarters and took out a small glass bottle with brown liquid inside it.
Werewolf Anabolism. He spent a few weeks making sure the concoction was perfect. It was made from the heart of Jonson, the Werewolf in Scalize.
"Usually. Werewolf should provide Stamina boosts. I wonder if it was going to have any different effects?"
The higher your attributes were, the harder it was to use Anabolism to boost your stats. Sometimes, Anabolism of ordinary beasts wouldn’t cut it anymore.
Siderius chugged the entire bottle down. He had been working hard the last few days with the Gargoyle. He could treat it as training for the Anabolism to dissolve as well.
Time continued to pass. The Gargoyle slowly took form. The three-meter high scaffolding was only built for the Gargoyle in sitting position. They slowly realized that when more of the Gargoyle was revealed.
Siderius personally crafted the head of the Gargoyle. It was much less intimidating than the gargoyle people knew about. There was something heroic about it with its humanoid face and one single horn in the middle of the head.
It looked less of a dangerous avenger but more of a watchful protector.
Two weeks later. Siderius was sitting in his office. He flexed his left arm, summoning the silver bracer to look at his status window.

"My Stamina has reached ten points. The next point would trigger another natural mutation. I wonder what it would be?"
Siderius leaned back to his chair and checked on Snowfell’s financial records of the previous six months. Before Siderius left for the assassin, he had arranged everything. With the experience of George and Roland’s wit, there should be no problem in keeping this territory profitable. They had quite a lot of products to trade with other territories.
The quarterly tax to the Royal Court would be no issue. But how much they could keep for themselves, without expending it to maintain the territory, was the important question.
"One... hundred gold coins in profit. That is already deducted everything. That is impressive."
Siderius thought that there would be a little over fifty gold left, but he didn’t expect it would reach three figures.
One hundred gold coins were 1,000,000 bronze coins. That was a number that no commoner could even think about.
Siderius took a closer look and saw what his Lords had done to the territory.
Previously, towns in Snowfell were all separated. Mucktown, Rugtown, Slanktown, and four other smaller towns were all operating on their own. After Siderius gained the lordship of Snowfell, everything began to change. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
If he remembered correctly, he did spend a night drinking with Roland and Henry before he went away, he did say that connecting all of those towns together and establishing a master trading route would be very profitable. But that would require a lot of effort.
Roland may have mistaken this as a task. And actually did it. He did it extremely well in fact that they had established a trading route no worse than Scalize.
Furthermore, because Snowfell had these... premium items, Snowfell was even able to make more profit. Half of the 100 gold coins actually originated from these premium items. The bestseller was Lesser Cervid Libidium, an aphrodisiac made from deers. The second contender was Lynx Calorium, a potion to warm yourself in the winter.
The territory made a lot thanks to the cold weather in the North. The selling of Lynx Calorium had been slowing down after Spring came but the Cervid Libidium was still in high demand.
"Never thought that it would go this way." Siderius mumbled.
A knock suddenly went off out of the door. "My lord. There is someone here to see you. She stated that she is Erin."
