I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 327: Wood Nymphs
Siderius put the saddle upon Red. Jude went inside the cart to check Caterina’s status. Ashe examined her loadouts and equipment. They were all getting ready to go on the road once again.
Quinlan left the merchant guild. He had on his traveler’s clothes, light leather armor for defense, and a piece of cloak outside.
Everia was further north than Eldoria, this made their environment much colder. Even their Spring was like Autumn of Eldoria.
But most men did not mind this cold. Bas followed right behind Quinlan and he still wore very simple clothing and armor.
"You’re going somewhere?" Siderius said.
Quinlan nodded, "We’re going with you."
Siderius smiled, "You also want to try your luck, huh?"
"I would be lying if I said I didn’t."
The two shared a laugh.
"Well then. Get ready. We’ll be leaving at dawn."
It was almost a year ago that Siderius travelled with Quinlan. Back then, he was still only a man on the path of revenge and had nothing to his name. Not a land, not a title.
But he almost finished his path now. The assassin was killed. The circus owner was killed. The conspiracist was killed. The town Bailiff was killed.
The only one left was the witch. Lyara Starcrow.
Getting to her would be much more difficult than getting to the rest. She wasn’t just a witch. She belonged to the ruler class of Eldoria.
To deal with her, Siderius would need to pluck Eldoria of its parasitic illness once and for all. To eradicate all witches.
He had plans to do that. And vengeance is best served cold.
They went on the road again. Everia’s road was much different than Eldoria.
The woods in Eldoria were dead. The spirits in Eldoria were chained. Everia didn’t.
The woods were green and the sky was blue. No amount of Dark Aether dirtied this place.
But the lacking of a Chaos Family did not mean it was a better kingdom. Siderius knew more than anyone else, human could be just as cruel as a monster.
"So... Quinlan. Does Everia have clans?" Jude spoke up.
"Clans? We have the Great Houses, which are basically clans like yours. Just a different title."
"I see. What about your Baron, your Count, and your Duke? Or do you have a different way of managing the lands?"
Quinlan was very patient and explained Everia’s situation to Jude.
"We have very limited titles. The lands are managed by the Great Houses. And each house has a lord that holds an honorary title.
The Iron of the North.
The Gold of the West.
The Root of the South.
The Beast of the East.
And finally, the King of the Houses, residing in the center of Everia."
"Huh. Your kingdom is much more centralized than us. Eldoria had many more territories. If I remember correctly, it must be forty to fifty different domains." Jude rubbed his chin.
"Maybe. But all of your lords heed the call of the Royal Court. Our lords can be very... ’independent’. We’re more united in some aspects and more separated in others."
"Are you not afraid that telling me this would mean treason?"
Quinlan laughed, "These are common knowledge. Eldoria’s spies would already know about them."
The road was long and calm, until it wasn’t.
On the fourth day, when the entire group was sleeping in a temporary camp in the forest.
Bas had the guarding shift while the others would rest. Siderius suddenly felt something weird in the air. His eyes shot opened.
Their place was littered with tiny floating pink dust that glimmered in the night.
Siderius immediately grabbed his Iron Mask and put it on.
"Fairy Dust? There is a Fae Colony nearby."
Siderius stood up immediately and looked around. Fairy dust had fallen upon the face of the others. A thick layer of pink dust covered them.
Ashe, Jude, Quinlan, all were deep in their sleep and were probably seeing a very sweet dream.
Siderius quickly grabbed the filter from his satchel and put it in his mask. He grabbed the Blazing Soul and walked out of the camp.
Trying to wake them up from Fairy Charm would be difficult. The easy way was to find the caster and stop them, either by words or by force.
"Where is Bas?"
The place Bas was supposed to guard had footprints on them. There were many small feminine footprints that grass grew upon.
Siderius squatted down and touched the grass.
"Wood nymphs..."
Siderius knew exactly what had happened. Wood Nymphs were very sensual creatures. They were no different than a benign succubus. However, it didn’t mean that the forest wouldn’t be angry because of that.
Siderius sighed, "I hope you didn’t think with your lower body this time, Bas. Wood Nymphs might look very beautiful, but they are a bundle of trouble."
Siderius grabbed his grizzly-bear cloak and followed the footprints. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
There were at least three to four Wood Nymphs.
Siderius quickly found his way to an oasis in the middle of the forest. The leaves were more green here with a clear blue pool of water in the middle.
Bas was being tied to a tree and a cloth wrapped around his mouth. The bodyguard saw Siderius and immediately tried to yell out for help.
"Well. I underestimate you this time. It seems like you weren’t foolish enough to be charmed by these nymphs."
Siderius entered the oasis.
The nymphs were running around playfully and sang a song that human couldn’t understand.
They saw Siderius and immediately put on their facade.
"Who is this masked knight?"
"He looks so big and strong."
"Do you want to have a fun night with us, warrior?"
Siderius flipped the fire switch over and drew Blazing Soul. The heat from the flaming sword drove the nymphs away. They quickly climbed on top of the trees and hissed at Siderius.
"Better stay away, nymphs. I have no interest in playing with you."
Siderius approached Bas closely and cut him free.
"I hope you weren’t fooled by them," Siderius said.
Bas opened his mouth wide and coughed out a bunch of pink fairy dust.
"Like hell I did. I learned my lesson from last time. But these nymphs were sneaky. They caught me off guard."
"Foolish men! You should have played with us!"
"Our father will deal with you now!"
"Hurt them, father! Hurt them!"
"You should pick your sword up, Bas." Siderius said.
Bas grabbed the sword on the ground and stayed on guard. "What’s coming?"
"The Guardian of the Forest."
